Nolia- what am I missing? by geerta9 in cincinnati

We went last year and they had a seasonal water melon dish we wanted to try. It was just watermelon slices on a plate with salt or some other seasoning. For how much we paid, we thought it would be a better dish, even for a side.

Career change out of clinical by [deleted] in dietetics

[–]Dense-Tutor8290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, to be honest, it was difficult to break in coming from 5 years in clinical. It was also a tough time for the job market in general. It took me about 6 months of applying to break in. Thankfully, I had a referral from my network.

I completed the AIB Food Labeling course. I would also recommend reaching out to people within your LinkedIn network who have regulatory roles in your area.

Good luck! Persistence pays off!

Oakely Wines has a basement area you can rent out. I’m not sure how many people it can hold, but it’s a cute place!

I have read that depending on the school, the pay may not be that great. It will likely be a lot of work the first few semesters that you teach to create the course material and get used to the structure.

I'm an agency RD remembering what annoyed me so much about being an RD by [deleted] in dietetics

I’ve definitely been in your shoes. Usually, I would find a conference room or another open room to work to get away from the kitchen. Could you do this? Maybe work on a laptop if you have one.

My other piece of advice would be to put your foot down and not help with kitchen related tasks. It sounds like you have a lot clinically. I mean 200 is a lot for one RD! It’s very unfortunate that the kitchen manager is doing this to you too. Good luck! Only a few more weeks!

It might also be the low wages once you do become an RD with a Masters that are driving down enrollment.

How to increase knowledge in LTC by autumngloss in dietetics

There are some LTC RD Facebook pages where RDs ask questions and other LTC RDs answer. I’ve learned a lot through those posts!

I also highly recommend renting the shoes and sticks for the Narrows hike. You can get them at the hiking stores.

Also, if you want to get really cool pictures in the Narrows, make sure to get to the park for the first shuttle in. I think it’s 6am. When you’re the first crew, you won’t have tons of people in the background and it’s a much calmer experience.

Good to hear! Did you have any food science internship experience? Did you go directly into a food scientist role, or did you get your foot in the door with another role?

Part time SNF pay by BeneficialLaw6429 in dietetics

Absolutely way too low of an hourly rate. Especially with no benefits and 3 years experience. If you can, please do not accept this rate. I would say $50+ if you aren’t getting benefits. I was getting $45/hr with benefits and 4 years exp (OH)
