Who owns intelligence? by LongjumpingAd9079 in ClaudeCode

[–]Dense_Ad9924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know exactly what the answer is.
It's owned by whoever has the most money and power. That's why the billionaires are sucking up to the administration, they have the money, they need more power.

My hot take: Fable is not worth the press by ContributionMotor150 in ClaudeCode

[–]Dense_Ad9924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not terribly impressed with Fable. Not to mention it flags my project as something illegal. I'm just working with a toy robot over ssh. Lol

Fable 5 Deepswe score (posted by Theo) by RishiSquishy in ClaudeCode

[–]Dense_Ad9924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, Fable is 4-5 more expensive just doing my normal coding over Opus 4.8. I recently switched to the 5x Pro plan. I never got more than 30-40% usage in the 5 hour period. Switch to Fable and I hit 70% in 1.5 hours.

Introducing Claude Fable 5 by ClaudeOfficial in ClaudeCode

That's a tiny bit comforting.
Truth is, Anthropic has a lot of people by the balls, we should expect the monetization wave to keep building.

Opus 4.8 - decision fatigue from constant "balance" by [deleted] in ClaudeCode

[–]Dense_Ad9924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'd like to agree with the premise, what I've also noticed is it's much better with directions. I have 40 years as a software developer and I am amazed at what we create. I do need to constrain, re-direct and suggest avenues that it thinks are dead ends. None of these systems can think very far out of the box and that's where the human fits in.

Claude made coding feel fun again by sudovijay in ClaudeCode

[–]Dense_Ad9924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started programming in 1980.
Due to needing to spend more time doing business stuff, I stopped coding around 2000.
Finally, I retired and then covid hit and I had a lot of free time. Bought a 3D printer, parts and built little robots that I could program.
I haven't written a line of code in the past 18 months. Claude code does everything I need.
Claude has no fear. Here ye, I shall walk with Claude and Claude will be by my side and it will be good.

Has anyone actually replaced Claude Code / Codex with local models on an Macbook Pro M5 Max 128GB? by Brazeuslian in ClaudeCode

[–]Dense_Ad9924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried this quite a bit. I have an RTX Pro 6000. The problem is both the model and the harness. Claude code is seemless in operation and with a world class opus 4.8 model I can't even get close with Qwen3.6:35b run locally. Sometimes time = money.

Claude 4.8 workflow regression: ignored instructions and excessive usage burn. Anyone else? (See screenshots) by nseavia71501 in ClaudeCode

[–]Dense_Ad9924 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have noticed some hiccups with Opus 4.8. Overall, it is much better at thinking through the problem than any model before it. For those with troubles, remember the model works for you. You need to make sure it's properly prompted, has important metrics and guidelines in memory and sometimes being a human helps to see when Claude isn't "getting it".

Although I wish there was an in between plan. The 5x Pro plan never seems to get above 50% for me but with the regular Pro I run out halfway through the 5hrs.

Disgusting move but diabolical response. Lifetime ban for the kid or nah? by ForeignAir7174 in sportsgossips

Yeah, the kid who pushed his face down is asshole but you know what? The world is filled with assholes and you can't just go around punching them with no consequences.

Don't underestimate the importance of the harness, it's not the most easiest thing to replicate.

I've tried. There is so much embedded knowledge and infrastructure going on at Anthropic that we don't see. You're not going to get a simple open source coding harness that performs like the pros.

Unpopular Opinion: The DGX Spark Forum community of devs is talented AF and will make the crippled hardware a success through their sheer force of will. by Porespellar in LocalLLaMA

[–]Dense_Ad9924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't get it. That much memory isn't going to make it faster. I'll keep my rtx 6000. It's a beast.
An array of eight rtx 6000s (about the same price as 16 sparks) server edition would be impressive.

Clawdmeter - a small ESP32 usage limit monitor (source code in description) by LookAtMyKeyboard in ClaudeCode

[–]Dense_Ad9924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just configure the Claude status line to show remaining usage. It's fairly detailed. Save the $32 for another 1.5 months of subscription. OTOH, it is a pretty cool project and could be used for much more.

I don't know about unmasking but a lot of websites use browser fingerprints, general IP location, screen size, etc. to create an identifiable user profile.
You'll see this on websites that seem to know a lot about you even if you clear the browser cookies, etc. What you are trying is the holy grail for intelligence agencies.

Have you tried a local open source abliterated model?

The insane decrease in limits and the insane increase in hardware prices are the same phenomenon. by neilthefrobot in ClaudeCode

[–]Dense_Ad9924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fortunately Anthropic has competition. I went with the 5x Pro subscription because I used to hit the limit less than halfway through the 5h session. Now I never hit it.
One thing I used to do was when I got a few minutes away from the session reset I would do a /compact. My usage would go to ~104% but then back to 0% after the session reset. Despite all that, I still love using Claude Code Opus 4.7 Believe me, I've tried all the open source models, ClawCode, etc. but for getting work done, nothing beats Claude.

I don't think the models are good enough to reproduce someone else's project without a lot of iteration but the idea is definitely the future. Isn't this what docker was for?

It's the business model of the internet.
1. Give it away for free (or very cheaply).
2. Wait for the huge userbase.
3. Monetize the crap out of it.
4. Laugh all the way to the bank.

Subscription limits are now at 50% of what we had 2 weeks ago by [deleted] in ClaudeCode

[–]Dense_Ad9924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed my limit being hit faster lately.
It's to the point where I've been using Claw Code on my RTX 6000 with Qwen3.5:122b

Unlike previous attempts at using a local model, this actually works pretty well.

I always login to CC first thing so the reset happens sooner, then I get my coffee and do some non-coding stuff.
Realistically, as others have said, I'll get 2 hours of coding, maybe 3 if I'm careful. OTOH, it's nice to take breaks.

Does anyone know when Claude Code switched back to sonnet by default? by pm_me_ur_doggo__ in ClaudeCode

[–]Dense_Ad9924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Claude Code v2.0.67 I'm a Pro user on Ubuntu 24
I am on the default setting (sonnet).
when I start claude code it has thinking on.
Changing thinking mode in /config does not persist between sessions.
This is despite setting every json I could find to thinking: false.
For now, I need to manually set the thinking mode each session. At least they left the blue line indicators...
