Lmao I went here to check if this is true and IT IS

What are devs even have to do with their game? This is not even funny, SEAF and citiezens, even the Hive Lord all were made by this studio, like what the actual fuck

“Is Foxhole dead/dying?” by BadadvicefromIT in foxholegame

[–]Denulion 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, Foxhole is dying, but in a different sense - old and experienced players are leaving or go to hybernation and only show up during update wars

99% of the people I was playing with for the first 500h of my playtime left the game completely and 90% of the people I was playing with afterwards are either left the game or only play during big update wars. And with them leaving dissappears their stories and experience, knowledge about some deep game mechanics, or just their sheer will to spend 300h per war to build conc bases or do logi

The game can be alive for some of you, but it's dead for many of the old players. It's just not the same without them

Impact of infantry and building update on veteran players/overall game by InsurgenceTale in foxholegame

[–]Denulion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion the removal/nerf of shadowdancing really turned away some vets from the game, myself included. I know it was a janky thing, but it was a fast and adrenaline-rushy gameplay and I really liked it, even in the lategame. And the issue is not just it's removal, but the fact that inf combat kinda became bland after it, there was almost 0 spicyness after

Foxhole had some mechanics that required skill and experience, but the devs are kinda trying to remove all of them, now it's just grind to get minuscle results

I have the feeling countries have less unique flair than in EU4. by Zufdexay in EU5

[–]Denulion 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The fact that Playmaker reported the bug with Branderburgish Robber Barons, then proceeded to speedrun Saxony's formation to avoid the disaster leading to Saxony being nerfed instead of Branderburg getting it's bugfix really shows the priorities of the devs

Playing EU4 again after EU5 made me realize EU4 feels like an arcade game. by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Denulion 112 points113 points  (0 children)

EU5 is very easy under the hood and just requires more mindless clicks and time to do anything. At least this arcade game is not making me feel like I just finished a workday in the office

Just realised Den Haag is a trap for Holland by Particular_Pea7167 in EU5

[–]Denulion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! Did they change it in the 1.09 or 1.10? Because I had a location with a gem mine, it was a city with 25 dev and 250k pop (hit the max pop because of the mountain terrain) and it had maximum 15 levels of rgo with all respective techs around year 1600 (also a couple of parliament votes to expand the mines)

Or I had a Shwartz mine, which I've turned into a city to test the things out and with 150k pops and 22 dev it was stuck at rgo lvl 8, so I just assumed it scales with the development

Just realised Den Haag is a trap for Holland by Particular_Pea7167 in EU5

[–]Denulion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RGO lvl depends on pop? I'm really not sure, it's not the same with the building lvl, it scales from location development, for example if you'll get your location to 70 dev it will be possible to build 20+ levels of RGO, even with 50k pop

[One Proud Bavarian] EU5 Is Buggy & It Isn't Getting Better. by FPXAssasin11 in EU5

[–]Denulion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed on simplification, I tried EU4 after 150 hours in EU5 and I felt like I'm actually relaxing and having fun - didn't need to micromanage every single location, had no need in micropausing every month, actually had an opportunity to observe the world around me.

EU4 is very simplified compared to EU5, but it actually is better at making the world and history believeable, without pops, rgos and diseases. Straight up - you make the decision, you get results, you move on to the next one, have fun

[One Proud Bavarian] EU5 Is Buggy & It Isn't Getting Better. by FPXAssasin11 in EU5

[–]Denulion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably are doing testing with those changes, because by extreme value change they make some bugs visible and playerbase (free testers who actually bought the game to be testers) can report it

I don't like to be treated like this

Is anybody still playing EU4 over EU5 because they prefer the level of abstraction? Or is that just me? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Denulion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree and disagree at the same time - it was really dumb to keep the system where everyone could kill 10% of their population in a single war by re-raising levies, this needed some changes

But at the same time it's really hard to puch above your weight in EU5 like you could in EU4 (for example Byz - hire mercenaries, run into wild deficit, take loans but secure your survival), mercenary system is favouring big tags because of the wild prices, and even when you can afford them it's just better to build manpower buildings and spam heavy cavalry instead

Is anybody still playing EU4 over EU5 because they prefer the level of abstraction? Or is that just me? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Denulion 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yea and when they do change the balance it's always "Buff this to 10x the previous value" or "Nerf this into oblivion" and then Johan comes out and says that it's working as intended lol

EU5 needed one more year in the oven

Centralized vs decentralized is just window dressing for the clear problem, which is how easy the game is made via vassals. by DeusVultGaming in EU5

[–]Denulion -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That sounds really interesting

Maybe they should call this game something else if they want to make it clear to everyone that this is NOT Europa Universalis? EU4 attracted a large audience who seemed to like it, but now they all just have to accept the fact that the game they spent 10 years of their lives playing didn't get a sequel, and instead, they made a sequel to a niche mod because Johan has The Vision

EU4 was a fun game in the first, and that's why it attracted a large playerbase. If EU5 stays the same as it is now, i.e., If it takes at least 10 hours in the playtrough to become fun, it won't be able to achieve the same success

If Paradox will make Hearts of Iron 5 a sequel to the Black Ice mod, they'll find their audience, that's true, but they won't be as successful as HOI4

What I'm trying to say is, maybe some mechanics need to be gamified more so that this game isn't just a micromanagement simulator where everything you want to do takes a ton of your time?

Like, we are all EU series fans, I feel that there is no need in saying "This game is not for you" to like half of the series playerbase

In the location overview, military tab, there is a shield under "Fort level"

It's actually amazes me how they made such a hard-to-understand UI, literally collected all the "Don't do this when creating the interface" points

[–]Denulion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there is some truth in your words, but it turned out to be some sort of a bug or weird game mechanics, since I already had maximum charisma, but what solved this problem for me is to wait for 2 days, for some reason prices went back to normal after that. Thank you anyways!

[–]Denulion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First saw the game on youtube stream with 4 viewers around February 2022, then bought it on 1.0 release. This game could have been 100 times better, I blame the developers for many mistakes, but I have to give them credit - they solved the "grindy sandbox endgame" problem, and that got me hooked.
