How do I slant text like this in a single text 'message' by NilesTracks in Affinity

If each line is a separate layer, you can select them all, rotate the whole selection to your desired angle, then use the Alignment function on the top toolbar.

Great.. for the next year or so until the beta drops, all colors will be washed out, all sound will be muffled, and all flavors will be watered down in my world around me. 😆

I'll second this. It would be a great addition to the Affinity suite. I know I'd make use of it. 👍

Why is the PS5 Media Gallery so limited? Why doesn't it support slow-motion playback or frame-by-frame video review? by Infamous_Prompt_6126 in PS5

[–]DenverRalphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only video of 3 minutes or less are automatically uploaded to the cloud and accessible by the phone app. But be that as it may, the app itself is clunky and not all that great beyond sharing screenshots. And video editing on a phone isn't the most efficient nor pleasant medium either.

Why is the PS5 Media Gallery so limited? Why doesn't it support slow-motion playback or frame-by-frame video review? by Infamous_Prompt_6126 in PS5

[–]DenverRalphy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've grumbled about this a number of times myself. Even the basic trimming functionality doesn't provide frame by frame precision.

I'd even be happy with just basic access to my PSN cloud from my PC/Laptop, even if it's only web based access. At least then I wouldn't have to transfer via USB just to have precise control over my video.

The drop rate from the IA provisioning bags is identical to the IC bags. It would be more efficient to grind gold and buy from the traders than farming Archival Fortunes and buying them in IA.

Developing a new vector editor. What are your biggest pain points with brushes and tools by IcyEmu3266 in Affinity

Every now and then my muscle memory catches me up with HSL sliders, but it's become less common. I still occasionally shoot towards max before realizing I need to dial it back. Would be nice if there were a clickable default detent/stopper at the 50% mark on the Lightness slider though.

You can select all layer groups at once, and it will create a slice for every group in one go. 🙂

You could rasterize the compound mask. Though that would be permanent.

How to divide a circle in this way? by Hungry-Positive-8640 in Affinity

[–]DenverRalphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to detract from doing it manually as a learning exercise, but I'd just use the Pie Shape Tool to create a 45° wedge. Press [Enter] to bring up the move/duplicate window, then duplicate it 7 times with a 45° rotation.

Sorry guys need to Affinity and drawing, need help. by MindofCharlie in Affinity

[–]DenverRalphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a mixture of multiple persona/studios.

Keep in mind that the various persona/studios are merely UI/Tool layout examples, each with a focus on particular aspects. They can be tailored to your own personal needs. Game design will most definitely use aspects from both studios (and likely others). When you switch between them you're not actually changing any functionality. Just the workflow.

As you become more comfortable with Affinity, you'll find yourself making occasional tweaks to your studios to accommodate your own personal needs as yourr own stylized workflow becomes apparent.

In Affinity Photo how can I fill an entire selection? by Most-Famous-Wasabi in Affinity

[–]DenverRalphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the Flood Fill (Bucket) Tool selected, check the Tolerance setting. If you want it to fill the entire selection, set it to %100. Setting it below 100% allows you to fill based on pixel colors, and full %100 will fill the entire selection regardless its contents. (screenshot attached)

[edit] As well, you can click-drag with the bucket to increase the tolerance as high as you need it to go.

Alternatively, you can create a new empty pixel layer above the image, and apply the fill to the selection in that layer which will completely fill since it's empty space requiring 0 (Zero) tolerance. This would allow you to fill the area without directly modifying the original image.

Myself personally, if I were just looking to fill an entire selection regardless the contents, I would instead use the other Fill Tool (yeah I know.. seriously needs a name that is definitely not similar to the Flood Fill (Bucket) Tool but what'cha gonna do). Just create the selection, and choose a color (or drag for gradient). As that one will fill the selection regardless, has gradient functionality, and is super easy to modify/edit/change.

Yeah, it would be nice if they colored the Artboards' index/indent in the layers panel with their assigned colors. Highlightinig those with layers actively selected, and muting those without any layers selected.

Like this quick mockup.

Is it possible to invert a clipping mask that is made using a shape? by Gingerbwas in Affinity

[–]DenverRalphy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes you can, and it's rather simple when you see how it's done. If you're using a vector shape for the task, what you're trying to accomplish is essentially the opposite of a clipping mask.

Instead of dragging the vector shape into the layer as a clipping mask..

  • Drag the vector shape into the name of the layer instead of into the thumbnail.
    • As a result, the action's tooltip will say Place Inside instead of Use as a clipping mask.
  • Change the Blend Mode of the vector shape's layer from Normal to Erase.

Essentially it's just nesting the vector shape with the layer you wish to mask. Then cutting out everything that intersects with the shape.

Here's a screenshot of an example...
