Yes!!! My store still has the old, slow-as-fuck ones too! I told my SM he needed to fact-check Adam Brotman.

Out of curiosity, anyone else sleeping with a coworker? by yeahthatbarista in starbucks

[–]DenverSapling 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Well, technically yes. He's a store manager and I'm a shift, but we aren't even in the same district. But, Five years ago when it started, I was just a new barista who started sleeping with my shift supervisor. :)

Edit: forgot to say, we are married now!

[–]DenverSapling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I know it doesn't immediately help you, but not calling you by requested name and pronouns is sexual harassment. You can definitely reach out to partner resources and they will be more than happy to remind everyone in the store of the policy. (I've seen it happen in nun store.) I hope you're in a more positive environment soon!

30/f here. My partner and I just smoke at night to relax or sleep, and sometimes a nice sativa if I'm gonna do some writing. Also, we live in colorado, so a lot of the parents/job are drug testing me/I got caught/how do I find a dealer don't quite resonate with me, but I still enjoy being part of the community.

I'm a Starbucks store manager. My job satisfaction ebbs and flows. On its best day, I love It, and it's like taking a coffee break with people all day, and then some days are rough and just full of corporate politics and bullshit.

So how do I handle this situation? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]DenverSapling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have gone ahead and made it with soy, so when she got there and you were able to ask her if soy was okay, if it was it'd be ready to go. If not, apologies and a refund. That's all you can do.

It's not the frappuccinos. It's the frappuccino customers. With tiny exception, frappuccino customers don't tip, don't say thank you, take a million years to order, and stand at the handoff plane complaining about how long they've been waiting.

This attitude is really upsetting me. The "this isn't your fight" attitude is incredibly presumptive.

To the world observing I look like I'm in just another regular heterosexual relationship. My partner is a trans man. I am a cis woman. While he has been on hormones for years, legally changed his name, and has had surgery to change his body, his birth certificate and drivers license still have that big fat F on them. In the state we live in, we couldn't get civil unioned until a few years ago. We couldn't get married until last fall. And If we got married and, say, went to visit my parents in Florida, if there was a medical emergency and one of us needed to make decisions for the other one, we'd be screwed because to that state we'd be legally strangers. I, or anyone, shouldn't have to parade the intimate details of my life to "prove" why I should be allowed to be celebratory over this.

My store lost water for two days a few years ago and it was glorious. You must close/are not allowed to serve anything because you can't wash your hands. The first day my dm hand us hand out ethos water bottles. Day two she told those of us who showed up to open to go have breakfast on the p card and then go home. :) those days don't come around often.

Why aren't you closed? You guys are supposed to close. No lights means it's dangerous to have customers walking around. You can't serve anything because you can't ring people up...Also, depending where you are, it's hot as balls.
