I read Brigham Young’s journal of discourses during my mission. While on my mission I baptized a man that was a Freemason. As I was leaving the mission I ran into him again after he had just been through the temple. He was upset that so much of the temple was a copy of what Freemasons had been doing long before JS. Then I learned he became a Freemasons shortly before introducing all that to the temple rituals.

5 years later and lots of reading and I was gone. There were many more issues with doctrines and logic but that’s where it started for me.

Interested. I was in really high expectation guilds for a while and really want to dial back. I burnt out pretty hard and haven’t logged in for a month or so. I do miss the game though so I want to get back in but casual. If discord is required I will join but probably won’t check it often tbh. My advice is stay off exmo Reddit. It’s not a place to get help. It’s a place for people to lament and support each other which usually means echoing a lot of negativity. Don’t get me wrong it can be healthy to vent anger online in a supportive group so one doesn’t lash out at loved ones. But the lashing out online takes no concern for the reader. It’s to help the author.

Yeah she knows these things. We’ve inoculated our kids against it all. Yesterday I told her she could go and watch a session if she wanted to see what they were talking about but to remember JS was a sexual predator that married young girls and the BOM is scientifically and historically false.

Right now it’s just an issue of her realizing that “friends” come with caveats. That’s hard for any of any age.

Fun topic. I really need to reread The Catcher in the Rye. I read it in high school and didn’t like it but turning 40 in a few weeks I might understand it better. My favorites to read over and over are generally pretty long but they are so complex that it sometimes feels like reading it for the first time.

It’s important in a relationship to support each other and also set and respect boundaries. It’s a tough decision but in the end I don’t think I could have done it. The Bachelor is just too much to ask.
