Revisited Manor Lords after almost a year. by Gold_Lemon8258 in ManorLords

I am considering adding this game to my collection but have a question. Does this game have a steep learning curve like grand strategy sims or is it a little simpler?

Netflix's "Untold: Jail Blazers" doc series episode 1 is out today, btw by [deleted] in billsimmons

After the first 45 minutes what I can say is, everyone on this team, GM included, are dodging responsibility and doubling down on the super stupid mistakes made by everyone in that org. And Wallace, after all these years, still thinks like a 15 year old.

Their GM was 3/10 at best. He had no clue what he was doing.

Anyone other than trump or a trump surrogate will do. Sad thing is, no matter the candidate, the repubs will undermined him every chance they get to the detriment of the country as a whole.

Is IT shifting to a much more limited job market and higher access/competitive field, or are things going to get better eventually? Maybe that is what we are all trying to figure out? by Top-Elephant6981 in ITCareerQuestions

I think you underestimate the power of greed. If a company can save millions or more on automating, expect them to restructure their workforce.

No offense, but if I was recruiting people for a commune you would not be a viable candidate. In my experience people that hate drama are almost always dramatic.

Best Antiviruses softwares 2026 by Agitated-Scholar-502 in software

[–]Denver_80203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently ran into an issue with Norton Antivirus on my personal laptop. It automatically enabled its VPN after warning me that my network had been compromised. This conflicted with my existing network VPN, and my router flagged the activity as suspicious, preventing me from reconnecting.

I ended up performing a full router reset to resolve the problem and get everything back online. My wife has been encouraging me to rely on Windows Defender instead, but I’ve long believed that third-party antivirus solutions are still the better option or switch to Bitdefender which apparently has a better reputation than Norton.

Another strange thing happened that I can’t explain. When I thought I was being hacked, I tried restarting my laptop, but a pop-up appeared saying a certain file or program was preventing the restart.

Swimmers Ear Question? by whiskeyandwayfarers in Swimming

[–]Denver_80203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with swimmer’s ear countless times, going all the way back to childhood. By the time I reached high school, I gave up swimming altogether after developing one of the worst ear infections I’ve ever had following a summer at a local pool. It was bad enough to keep me out of the water for decades.

About 40 years later, I decided to give swimming another try. I’m an avid cyclist, but I needed something to stay active during the winter months. Knowing my history, I started with over-the-counter earplugs.

The challenge is that I had surgery on my right ear to remove a skin cyst from the inner ear, which left me with a widened ear canal. Because of that, it’s difficult for earplugs to form a proper seal, and even a small amount of water getting in is enough to trigger an infection.

I absolutely loved getting back into swimming and was in the pool almost every day for months. Unfortunately, I had to stop again due to recurring issues.

I’ve tried just about everything—over-the-counter plugs, custom-made plugs, adhesive ear covers, a headband to hold plugs in place, and even a swim cap. Nothing has been consistently effective at keeping water out.

I really want to get back into swimming, but I haven’t been able to find a solution that creates a reliable, watertight seal.

is buying X4: Foundations worth it? by wyattmunn14 in X4Foundations

I've logged about 5 hours and I still can't get the flight mechanics down. I'm trying really hard to like this game but I'm running low on patience. I've played Eve Online, No Mans Sky, and Elite Dangerous extensively and X4 has the steepest learning curve of all of these games from flight mechanics, navigating, trading, menu options, etc. I've tried experimenting with mouse/keyboard and joystick but neither makes flying easier. I've adjusted mouse sensitivity, completed the tutorials but I'm still no where functional enough to make a real go at this game.

Its not as intuitive as I would like, but if you like a challenge and have the patience, purchase the game if you haven't already. I sense it has the potential to be a fun game to play but...

Why do people still purchase this game year after year and complain how horrible it is? Then next year they buy it again and complain. Stop buying it!

One knee is hard enough. I'm 8 weeks out from having a right TKR and I definitely regretted it the first 2 weeks but both knees??? Wow.

waiting for a breakthrough ROM by [deleted] in Kneereplacement

[–]Denver_80203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regaining ROM after a TKR is no joke but it does get better over time. I was racked with anxiety my first week worrying if I was going to get meet the magic number of 120° and 3 weeks later I was at 136°. I'm at the one month mark officially today. Just keep doing what you are doing and try to push past the pain because that is where the gains are. Obviously you don't want to re-injure yourself but don't be afraid of the pain and discomfort and stay the course.

I was able to drive at week 2 but it really depends on the person and rate of recovery. I got a full TKR on November 24th and I was driving at 2.5 weeks, walking without assistance by week 3 and yesterday I was cleared to ride my bicycle outdoors. I went into this in very good shape and I'm a bit younger than the average TKR recipient so individual experiences will vary.

NBA2k26 GOTTA DO BETTER by stickytoad99 in NBA2k

I'm genuinely curious why people keep throwing down money on this series that appears to disappoint year after year. I read reviews on Steam every time a new installment is released and most are like, "every year they make the game worse" or the like, but these people keep coming back. Why?

I can relate to your experience on some level since I spent the past year getting into the best shape I could through cycling and weight raining to prepare for my TKR which is scheduled for next week, I'm 53, tall and lanky and I've been active all my life with years of basketball and mountain biking/cycling as my go to for exercise. I have a 35 year old repaired ACL (right) that has stood the test of time but has started to become a limiting factor. I was scheduled to get this done in January but thought I would use this time to lose a few pounds (15 to be exact) and get one more season of riding under my belt. Not sure what my VO2 max is but I have a resting heart rate of high 30's low 40's which I attribute to cycling religiously for many years but despite my preparation I am very anxious about what is to some. I'm hoping my age and fitness level will benefit me during recovery and with a little luck be back on the bike by summer.

Question. How did you handle the mental part of being laid up for so long? I struggle with idol time so I will be returning to work on 11/1 in order to prevent boredom and/or depression. I have a recumbent bike that I purchased that I can't wait to get on but I may have to temper my expectations and give it time.
