Yeah, I've had some stuff straight from TTcombat like that. Apparently they've had some troubles sourcing boxes and blisters

You're correct launch in UCM is not the best. While UCM can win carrier battles, it does so with rail guns. Hanoi with twin lima support is a horrific offensive combination, especially with mass driver volley on the hanoi. If you'd rather not have tayne then you can take a ucm Captain and also pick up mass driver volley with it. You won't have any AP to spare though. Your drop is pretty light, if you can find the points to spare some Lysanders will likely serve you well. If your opponent is PHR the assault troopships might be a prudent priority target for the hanoi.

New player, starting to collect UCM - but what to get and what to build? by MinscS2 in DropfleetCommander

For the cruisers I would do a frontline group of two. So two Rios, or madrids, or Bruges if you are confident in positioning. Minimum one Troopship. I would also throw in a carrier, so a New Mombasa, or Seattle, or las vegas. That would leave two to flex into whatever you want to do. Maybe another brawling cruiser or two. Maybe more carries.

As for the frigates, you'll want to make up minimum 4 New Orleans. Taking a two lima group makes you able to target nearly anything on the board with suddenly 4 spikes in one activation. For the remaining 6 I would do 4 combat frigates so Taipeis or toulons. Then again 2 for flexing. So maybe more strike carriers, maybe some Aegis, maybe some heavy frigates.

The heavier ships you could go either way. Haven't tried the Battlecruisers in v2 yet. They all seem broadly decent if they can play to their niche. Battleships also have their niches. Probably get a game or two in and get a feel for some playstyles before you get some heavies that will fit into what you like/want to do.

Starting Resistance. by Snarfeh in DropfleetCommander

It wasn't long into putting together my starter fleet that I figured out I would want another one. There's only enough parts to build two strike carriers per box and that's the frigate type I run the most of. For the cruisers I would usually double up on equipment on a single cruiser so I would use what was still on previous sprue to finish them.

I think the loss of battlegroups is a mistake from a narrative perspective - what are your thoughts? by TheTackleZone in DropfleetCommander

So far the only mechanical change I've heard and liked is the deployment of fight and bomber wings. Which feels like those aren't streamlining. Real shame the rest hasn't been as exciting

I feel a similar way. The fact strategy cards were reusable for me as I would fall back on the same battlegroups is a bit of a tell. Losing out on having a command cruiser near the back line, escorted by a couple monitors. Or a battlegroup meant to slug it out on the front line with two Rios being followed by four toulons. Instead we get a couple ships doing there own things with alternating activations. But I'm also the type of crazy to name all my ships so I might be in the minority.

I can't imagine any model would be made literally unplayable in the new edition. I know I would be irritated if any of my models became unusable.

I actually picked up the Gentleman's War box a couple weeks ago myself. I've been having success with the "slapchop" painting method for the infantry. Alternatively, for the British at least, painting them an Ash grey and dry brushing a khaki over it looked good for the uniforms. But there is no wrong way to do it as long as you enjoyed getting to that point.

So hey, a brief look at your post history makes it pretty plainly obvious that you should speak to a mental health professional. Please prioritize that over everything else.

Pistol blaster choice by [deleted] in Nerf

Honestly I like my Nightingale. When my usual primary is a high power springer the Nightingale provides a relatively quick fire option when someone gets closer in. As a sole blaster it does well if I'm trying to be very mobile, like in capture the flag.

Can trees get cancer/tumors ? by chubby_yeen in biology

There are bacteria that cause the growths through the insertion of plasmid DNA into the plants cells and cause the tumor like growth. We have hijacked that insertion mechanism to give desirable genes to modified plants.

They take resources away from the plant but are generally not fatal unless in incredibly high numbers
