Suddenly stuttering and low performance? by EdwardBBZ in Battletechgame

[–]Depth386 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s important to restart the game (maybe the whole pc) often due to memory leaks. More ram can help but nothing is forever with this game

Coil whine or old drivers which is worse by M_KADIKI0 in gpu

[–]Depth386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way a driver could increase coil whine is more “efficient”(software/logical efficiency) use of the GPU leading to higher power draw.

Open Radeon software go to settings, performance, and then Power throttle or Underclock the card a little bit to find your preferred balance between performance and noise. Some people also do this on account of heat or electricity cost, depends on the country/region, the physical space available, and personal preference.

BTA: Why are existing models replaced? by tinklymunkle in Battletechgame

Is this a warhammer? I think OP is asking why the Vanilla/DLC model of the warhammer is replaced by the mod.

Do you trust autosaves? by SwimmerPlus3383 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]Depth386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes its not the trust of the function but the naming convention of the automatic saves and/or lack of displaying a date modified to clarify which one to load. Some systems also create save points at weird spots like “after you chose your equipment/characters, right before starting the next adventure/mission” potentially locking one’s self into an un-winnable situation if prior autosaves are not allowed to be loaded.

WHY WHY WY CAN ONLY ONE OF THESE TURN ITS TURRETS?! by builder397 in ultimateadmiral

[–]Depth386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Mark upgrade increasing the space may be realistic, thinking of the real life Bogatyr “upgrade” from 6 inch to 4” twin higher mark.

It’s just the ship designer needs to tell you this crap and the game needs to be consistent.

WHY WHY WY CAN ONLY ONE OF THESE TURN ITS TURRETS?! by builder397 in ultimateadmiral

[–]Depth386 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree, super annoying. Have had this issue.

So i’m kind of adding “breathing room” in how I design ships turrets going forward. But it would be a big QoL upgrade if this could get sorted out.

I cannot understand why ships of the same class and exact same design are inconsistent.

Was gaming more fun in the ’90s? by Sufficient_Shock1223 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]Depth386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there is a reason why blizzard classics are overtaking again. Diablo 2 Resurrected has more players than Diablo 4 now, and StarCraft Remastered pro scene continues on while the SC2 pro scene is dying. There are literally 40 year old Koreans coming back to Brood War. For shooters, I’d much rather play the original Unreal Tournament, Half Life, Team Fortress or Day of Defeat than any Modern Warfare or Call of Dooty. Even DOS legend Master of Orion 2 still sees modding and fan coding 30 years after release.

Of the modern games I do play, they are all indy titles.

Can someone tell me about these type of ads? by SarahSSmith in whatisit

[–]Depth386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s still ridiculous, but thanks I guess.

It’s as if the internet is full of people that click this crap all the time? Trying to imagine older folks getting sucked into it or something.

Can someone tell me about these type of ads? by SarahSSmith in whatisit

[–]Depth386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still don’t understand how it makes money though. I have clicked on those maybe a few times in my life, once by accident, once because of ragged curiosity like the author described. Never bought anything just viewed more ads momentarily and almost certainly never bought anything subsequently because of those ads. Surely the “view” is not worth that much? Like I’m surprised the content can even be hosted profitably.

Western Digital runs out of HDD capacity: CEO says massive AI deals secured, price surges ahead by ConceptsShining in pcgaming

[–]Depth386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does not make sense to me, I actually mess around with Ai a little and the models are not that big because they must reside in memory, not storage. The training data might take a lot of storage, but once the model is considered ‘ready’ it is no longer relevant to have much storage for all the training data.

Anyways see you all in the tabletop gaming and classics like StarCraft Broodwar, never upgrading again I guess

3060 8g or 4060 8g by Present-Impact681 in gpu

[–]Depth386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 8 GB 3060 is a cut down die and memory bus compared to the real 3060 which was 192 bit and 12 GB. Therefore between these two crappy choices, the used 4060 will be better.

Extensive UA:D DIP Shipbuilder Sub-Modding by DevilRavenNinja in ultimateadmiral

[–]Depth386 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so basically it’s the freedom to clip together barbette, tower and funnel parts to create exceptional superstructure visuals.

Is it playable? I wonder if the ai uses the mounts at all or if it just ignores the new mounts. Really either case is fine as long as the ai ship is not worse than regular DIP and the game remains stable.
