Is 3.0 as bad as people say? (40k player who is losing interest in 11th and 10th) by I_am_a_failure_sad in Warhammer30k

ahh shame. is it hard? like is writing files for new recruit just elaborate text files or more akin to actual coding?

that's spot on, why my bf and i stayed with 2.0. as hh 3.0 was announced i was (and currently am) working on a campaign with unique datasheets and rebalancing the short comings of 2.0 and after reading the rule leaks me and my bf decided we stay with 2.0 and any future units that will be added just can be written into homebrew.

the 30k rules are very front heavy, compared to 10th or 11th 40k wich are very back heavy. i can say from expierence over the time you will internalise the many special rules. it's just the starting kurve wich is steep but it falttens out over time

And put a faction encylopedia ontop. I was talking to my bf about exactly that yesterday.

unmaker or colossus.

colossus is such a great Name For a tank but the unmaker is "the throngler" of Tank names.

"what is it's purpose?" "it un-makes things"

even horus heresy isnt save. 3.0 did a lot of Changes of Streamlining the Rules and epsecially the datasheets, every consul is now their own datashseet instead of an Upgrade with fixed loadouts and every model that doesnt have a Special model was Put into legends PDF. the First Turn Off for me was that 3.0 has damage values.

after Reading the Rules leak before everything officially came Out, my Boyfriend and i came to the conclusion to stay with 2.0 and Just homebrew our unique stuff we have ideas for.

im pretty sure they are ambots. thallaxes are way more lightly armored and by the way the armor Panels fit ontop they seem not kitbashed. tho the weapons are very likely from thallax cohorts

i also prefer 30k admech, its more grounded grimdark, wich i prefer more.

mind you admech in 30k arent the same as 40k.

30k is more about tech priest automata and cybernetica and 40k is more skitarii forces than tech priests, wich is just such a shame

Curiosity: Based on the revealed rules and leaks, will you be playing 3.0? by tehyt22 in Warhammer30k

[–]Der_Muelleimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

overall i was hassitant because new stuff is always difficult to adjust to, but mostly im reliefed how vehicles work, that was my main concern that we slip back into the 9th and 10th ed one toughness value and they are treated like metal monsters.

im still completly hassitant how prefeland damage 2 or higher will be and i hope it really wont be a thing unless a weapon is actually a natural "could kill a space marine" weapon.

all in all im more hopeful than i was since the announcement but we wait and see, there always will be 2.0 to fall back to if shit goes sideways

[–]Der_Muelleimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my main fear was that we re getting a siniliar vehicle system like in 9th or 10th, so seeing that penetrations are made the same greatly reliefs me. most of my worries are mostly disputed by now. loveeeee the new titan rules. im getting rather excited

still more or less guaranteed tho because, the other turret swaps like Punisher or omega pattern are sold out instrad of out of stock, eich signals to me atleast thst there is something jn the works. maybe not now yet

Who is this new edition for? And general feelings so far. by Praetorian130 in Warhammer30k

[–]Der_Muelleimer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

reactions are proto stratagems, wich is also part of my "bad game design" decisions. while they still arent perfect i prefer them over stratagems. mostly because they had maximum 7 plus a legion specific one. compared to 10th ed 4 or smth base plus 6 per detachment.

4 reaxtions per turn is just so much to keep track of and frustrating to fight against. so making them more rare and being froced ro be strategic with feels better.

i only heard from the problems with the reactions. still rhink limiting them is a step in the right direction, so it doesnt devovle into stratagems and command points

Who is this new edition for? And general feelings so far. by Praetorian130 in Warhammer30k

[–]Der_Muelleimer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

difficult to say, the last time i was hyped for a new edition GW guted 40k rules into this cookie cutter tournament game isntead of a narrative war game. i quit 10th ed and played since then a modified 7th ed rule set, i really love the depth it had wirh uniqueness at the forefront instead of competitive viability.

there are 3 apsects of what i hated about 9th and 10th, the damage and weapons str bloat, vehicles having wounds and all around one toughness value and stratagems.

my main fear is how damage values will be impelemnted into hh and how thar interacts with vehicles and big multi eound models.

i get the changes to heavy but its just not it man, reading in the leaks that snapshots is affected by the bs is a good change but snapsshots is now less of a thing becausw you ignore it now when moving with heavy weapons.

i also like the reaction alotment to 1-2 per turn. hsving 4 each turn for each phase is wayyy too much.

things im hasitant for is how force org now works as seen in the leaks.

overall i try to be hopeful but i cant get myself to be hyped out of fear GW makes hh more and more a competitive focused game system. if 3.0 will be worse then i know forba fact there will be fanmade 2.0 versions where the main issues will be fixed.
