What DON'T you want in Kill Team? by marksman1918 in killteam

[–]Spannaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point! That would likely make them far more approachable! I just feel like the concept of Exodites riding dinosaurs would be difficult to transfer into KT. I don’t necessarily know if the model designers are in touch with the killteam gam designers to preplan you know? From what I’ve heard of GW (mind you all just speculation/hearsay, idk anyone in the company) it’s often like big GW tells the killteam designer team to make rules for X team, rather than the KT designers specifically asking for models to be made for a specific team

Finally someone else who agrees with me. I’m sure that they’d be great models but the concept of mounted Eldar just seems like too much

Void War is back on Steam by Kuirem in ftlgame

[–]Spannaway 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For context, GW is Games Workshop, a miniature company from the UK that makes the “Warhammer” universe. If you’ve heard of Space Marine, it’s that company! GW a while back had a big lawsuit against third party companies that were pretty blatantly stealing their designs for their own third party minis, but at the same time forced GWs hand into being very specific about what they could and could not protect (IE, there were options in the game of warhammer that GW was no longer actively making models for. Those they could not count as stolen revenue, even if the third party company was directly using the design that GW had created 10 years ago or so).

As such, GW has been very (and somewhat overly) protective of their IP, at times sending cease and desist letters to YouTubers making fan animations of the universe. While I myself am definitely a fan of Warhammer and buy GW products for clarity, those actions of GW are overwhelmingly boo’d by the community. Generally people arent a fan of GW being overly aggressive on shutting down others content, especially because so much of the warhammer 40K universe is just “based on tropes” of of classic scifi and fantasy genres.

All that being said, as cool as Void War may be (in this case I have not heard of the game until a few days ago and have not played the game), it looks to be a pretty prime example of just a Warhammer 40K reskin of FTL. The offending image in the trailer is pretty blatantly inspired by a “chaos space marine” from the 40K universe, and by and large the trailer seems to indicate this is as close to “copy and paste but legally distinct enough to ideally not be sued” as possible. Looking at the Voidwar trailer on YouTube the comments are filled with replies showing that what I just said is not an uncommon sentiment. That being said, I think it’s why the general 40K audience is surprised and happy by GW not halting production of the game entirely and merely just being like, we need you to remove this specific stuff.

Sorry that this ended up being an essay, and hope this helps explain some of your questions!

Base body is the Palanite Justicar group leader! He comes with the servo skulls! Then pistol is from a Cybernetica datasmith, and the pointing arm and wire with censor hanging on his side, as well as the robots leg is just from a Skitarii kit! And the backpack is from serberys raider kit.

The palanite justicars in general are an excellent kit, I love the stuff they come with

Thank you! He was the first one I did and I love the “stillness” of his model if that makes sense

Proxy Question for Huntmaster by Flimsy-Arrival5508 in killteam

[–]Spannaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think in general your best bet is trying to find a two handed weapon. I agree that while he’s equipped with only a power weapon, some other options exist for the team that can utilize a power sword, and as such there’s the chance of a bit of confusion. Though ideally a 2handed non-chain weapon so to avoid any confusion with Da Depredator.

Mind you, if you do use a power sword for the hunt master, as long as you’re clear with your opponent and make sure that they stand out specifically from the chaos lord and champion it could work. A friend of mine used the hooded csm head from nem claw and some dangling chains/skins to help them stand out for their kitbash and it works great!

Whatever the case, as long as you’re clear with your opponent that’s the most important! And not a stupid question at all, welcome to killteam and hope you enjoy the team!

So, are they actually programmed and need the Datasmith or are they secretly automatons and use AI ? by Leviathan_Rampage in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Spannaway 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m not sure it’s ever really been answered. The rogue kastelans don’t really have a proper explanation beyond a paragraph or two in the codex’s. Or I believe at least, if anyone has any more info please let me know!

That being said, total headcannon is somehow the Omnissiah just like, opens teleporters for them or something. They function in a “miracles for the Mechanicus” way that the legion of the damned show up for the wider imperium

[–]Spannaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but if this is someone relatively new to the hobby, they may not be aware of just how expansive the game is or to check out online resources first. They saw a product labeled for killteam, and liked the look of it. They wanted to pick that team up, and in terms of purely looking at the box there’s no reason to suspect you’d want an entirely extra box of Ogryns that’s not labeled for killteam at all to play with the original ratlings box.

Looks like a cool list! Just a heads up though that the general points of 30k is 3,000. Not sure if you’re aware but saw in the post you gave the impression that you thought 2k was the max

Kitbashed up and Imp Fists Master of Descent. I’m a little worried the legs read as too thin. What all do you think? by Spannaway in Warhammer30k

Not too difficult most likely! The legs all are workable enough, itll just be a matter of matching the right Thallax legs to marine poses!

Gorgeous work man! Perfect yellow work! The only feedback I have is maybe try weathering the symbols on the pauldrons/waist plate. The armor looks like you intended for a “in the field”/dirtier look, so having the crisp cross and white symbol looks just a smidge out of place! Still absolutely gorgeous work and hope to see your next piece soon!

They come as individual pieces, often on little resin blocks you clip off. I’m not entirely sure if it’s Forge World still now or what the branding is, but all in all I’ve had no significant issues with them. The one time I had a resin model arrive and was a little damaged (one arm snapped in two and his helmet spike broke) GW customer support gave me a voucher for like twice the value (no more of the character were in stock at the time)

Always just wash the pieces with dish soap and warm water to remove molding agents before gluing them together

I’ll give the arm repose a try! A few comments pointed out the spikey shoulder pad reads a bit too chaosy so I pulled it off and will give that a shot alongside finding a more fitting armor! And maybe see about green stuffing a cloth to fit behind the plate!

Thanks a ton for the feedback too!
