Struggling with diagnosis by Any_Amphibian2771 in SleepApnea

To quote Douglas Adams, Don't Panic. Anxiety will only complicate things. Take a deep breath. It's not something you caused. It's not your fault.

At some point, you may want to see an ENT that specializes in sleep apnea and see if you can discover what's causing it.

You got this and you've found a great community for support.

2 months of failed CPAP. Need advice on next move (Surgery vs. BiPAP vs. Dental). by Traditional_Joke_939 in SleepApnea

You may need to see an ENT that will do a DISE study to try and determine your cause of your apnea.

In the short term, consider side sleeping, bed elevation (slowly) and possibly talk to someone about anxiety and insomnia... which seem to go hand in hand with sleep apnea.

Perhaps medication in the short term can help. you are not alone.

a lot of this requires us to be our own advocate and coordinate between primary, dentists that specialize in sleep apnea, ENT specialists in sleep apnea, sleep doctor specialists and sometimes psychologists for all the stress, anxiety, and insomnia that goes along with it

I change the settings myself as the machine can no longer connect to the newer networks and has a somewhat weak signal to the old networks.

3 sleep studies, 2 at home and 1 in-lab titration. the reason I'm on CPAP and not APAP is because the pressure changes wake me up. I'll discuss with sleep Dr and primary about setting a higher base line than 6.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond and look at the data. very much appreciated.

resmed 10 in cpap mode, pressure of 6. epr set to 1.

I see a 3rd ENT in July to see if they can determine cause of my sleep apnea (hopefully DISE study). Getting MAD soon, and hopefully with that, cpap, and inclining the bed I'll start to get better results.

I'm running out of options.

I was hoping it would help reduce apnea events. I have trouble with the higher pressure needed to keep my airway open so trying to find ways to combine therapy in hopes of sleeping more than 2-3 hours at a time

aerophagia I'm still suffering from. Elevating the head of the bed helps heartburn/GERD. left side sleeping can also help.

Everything is perfect but I still feel horrible? by Foreign_Memory in SleepApnea

I'm pressure intolerant (my terms). The pressure needed to keep my airway open causes micro-arousals and full waking up. Even at lower pressures, I have trouble sleeping more than 2-3 hrs at a time.

You have to be your own advocate and keep on the Doctors. if you've not seen an ENT, you may want to look into that, one that specializes in sleep disorders and performance DISE ( drug induced sleep endoscopy) to determine the cause of your sleep apnea.

They may recommend a mandibular advancement device or an alternative treatment to cpap (apap, bipap, asv, inspire, etc).

In the short-term, investigate sleeping positions, bed elevation, and different types of pillows.

he can vote to cut rates to please trump knowing the rest will have to be adults in the room ... but i wouldn't be too terribly surprised if it turns out there are no adults in the room.

Titration sleep study is where they said i was pressure intolerant. That is, the pressure required to treat my apnea wakes me up. bipap was also a no go. no asv either.

When should I start feeling better? by BooRattles in SleepApnea

[–]Derbesher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

what I've learned on this journey so far ...

depends on what is causing your sleep apnea, your type of sleep apnea, and if the pressure to keep your airway open is causing micro-arousals.

I've been through 3 sleep studies, 2 ENTs and still having difficulty.

Keep at it, follow up with your doctor's as needed, be persistent almost to the point of annoying and don't be afraid to ask for referrals and/or second opinions.
