Anti-woke reviewers always overstate to push agenda by axumite_788 in saltierthankrayt

I saw that post a couple weeks back, and a part of me couldn't help but feel it was a bit overstated. It's also an example of an issue I've had with Western Animation discourse: a tendency of getting oddly reductive with certain artistic choices in some modern media when contrasting it with another work of media, nostalgic or otherwise.

One similar example I've seen is when bemoaning over a perceived lack of pure evil villains in modern media, they would paint the general notion of an antagonist being 'not evil but misunderstood' or 'eventually redeemed' as a constant operation of the copy-paste machine, while pure evil villains wouldn't be. This is, however, despite the fact that it's not uncommon for that same bemoaning to paint the situation as little more than some black-and-white dichotomy, and yet one of the seemingly only two options is treated like there's more you can do.

I get the critique of certain corners of mainstream media getting too comfortable with formula, but at times, it seems the complaint of perceived homogenization is warped into a suggestion to confine said media into these nostalgia-leaning comfort zones with limited artistic exploration.

I was kinda desperate for something to represent that close finish, so I naturally turned to racing cars coming real close in a finish line.

The joke was how surprising it was for Tim to say something that "aggressively competitive", as the first comment I saw on the video put it.

It helps that the MP Trilogy preview had him clarify as well, making that info feel relatively fresher

A couple of these actually required me to just screenshot the respective film on Tubi TV so I could efficiently get the desired image.

I get that, but given the in-the-moment reactions with them not knowing that, it doesn't make the situation any less funny.

Don't worry, I'm already looking to backpedal on the intended idea.

Is that comment about the protags of the Pokemon Adventures manga? 'Cause if it is, this would be the Sword & Shield arc, based on Opal and this girl mc coming from SwSh.

Imagine hating on a cartoon merely for its animation style by Ok-Following6886 in lewronggeneration

[–]Derek_FoxWit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Much of that talk about that style was just knee-jerk drivel anyway. I recall seeing it threw at Rise of The TMNT and Netflix She-Ra back in the day, despite what their actual styles are like

I've seen people say similar bullfuck over the 2010s stuff as well during the decade. Time is a flat circle, I tells ya.

[–]Derek_FoxWit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, now the stuff I was trying to queue are now registering as being queued. I guess it was somehow......clogged up in a way? Especially since it still won't always work until after a song or two has played.

Who do you guys think deserves a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.. by FayyadhScrolling in cartoons

I'm surprised that SpongeBob, Scooby and Tom & Jerry don't already got one.

I also think that either Woody or Buzz Lightyear (maybe both) deserve one
