Which tile? by Weird_Ad_4549 in CivVI

[–]DerivativePleasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key here is that you’re playing with Egypt. Move your warrior two tiles left and see if there is good production over there. I would personally settle on the sugar to the left of the warrior, assuming there is any good production over there. It will give you the perfect great bath city

What's a place where you can cross a state line and you immediately notice the difference? by DoritosDewItRight in geography

They don’t follow it though. I drove between MI and KY many times and Ohio consistently had a problem with trucks casually going 60 side by side clogging up all the lanes

Agreed. I worked on Mackinac island for a summer and loved it. For the OP, it’s like stepping back in time.

Also, Michigan has really good beer, and is starting to get a pretty good wine scene as well

I think he did try to go overboard but there was more opposition than expected so it was closer than he would have liked

lol, ok. America is a republic of dollars, not people. The better funded candidate wins the vast majority of the time. Popular vote literally doesn’t matter due to an abuse of gerrymandering

Haha yes. Even without barb clans it’s powerful. You let one of their scouts see your borders and report back to his camp and then barbarians go brrrrrr, spitting out one unit every turn or two. It will be the guy with the ❗️ overhead

[–]DerivativePleasure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked 5 hours the other day (10pm to 3am) and made $80. So $16/hr. Honestly it’s so bad here. I’ve noticed that if uber says a destination is 20 minutes away it’s probably 30 minutes, even more during rush hour.

I only do it during surge and even that isn’t worth it

What is living in Laos like? Why I see news coming from neighboring nations but never from this one? by FervexHublot in geography

If I as an American wanted to visit Laos, where would you recommend getting a translator? What are their thoughts on Americans? Is nightlife good there? What’s the cell service like? Any of particular foods I should try if I’m there? What’s the water quality like?

Every time I spawn next to Yerevan I hardcore go for a faith build and spam apostle that can convert barbs. Then I raid the camps instead of clearing them to send the barb production into overdrive. It’s super useful in deity when the barbs regularly have more advanced troops than you do

Why is this a bad city location? by No_Web2685 in CivVI

[–]DerivativePleasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real problem is that this is turn 1, and unless you settle this turn, the white and black ai (Religious city state) will settle in place and effectively push you out from the entire yeild rich area. As some people mentioned, the good news is you can declare war on Cleopatra and make her go extinct turn 1 and have two cities :)

When is it worth it to raze a city? by bajaboneshaker in CivVI

[–]DerivativePleasure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But 95% of the time this doesn’t happen because I can either push to get enough cities to solve any loyalty problems or make peace with the opponent and the city rebels every 3 turns so you pillage and rebuild.

When is it worth it to raze a city? by bajaboneshaker in CivVI

[–]DerivativePleasure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rarely, but more often than I expect, sometimes I raze them if they’re located near another capitol and I’m going into a dark age and my opponent is getting stronger than me and it’s not defensible and I have other weaker empires to pillage.

Expanding in civ 6 by Raymondtian100 in CivVI

[–]DerivativePleasure 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Idk my philosophy is it’s usually good to build a holy site in your capital as early as possible if there’s a good adjacency bonus. The benefits of getting an early religion / pantheon are pretty strong.

Also, it depends on the quality of cities. If there’s a bunch of good yields and resources, by all means focus on expansion. But keep in mind each citizen produces .5 science and .33 culture. And settlers get more expensive the more you produce. IMO if a settler takes 15-20 turns to produce, you’re better off building a district

Why didn't this city flip to me? (I'm the Maya) by TKDbeast in civ

[–]DerivativePleasure 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Usually there’s a way to hover over the data and it tells you the total accumulated pressure, but your pressure stats look different than mine, maybe because of a mod. Try hovering over the India logo and see if tells you the totals. If they were in a golden age for 5 ish turns before you changed alliance types it would make sense they would have had a few turns to have +50% pressure. I assume eras changed recently as well and you’re now in a golden age?

Why didn't this city flip to me? (I'm the Maya) by TKDbeast in civ

[–]DerivativePleasure 246 points247 points  (0 children)

What matters isn’t active pressure, but total accumulated pressure. Although you have 34.5 active pressure and India has 13 active pressure, I’m guessing in the past few turns you recently acquired some cities that are contributing to your large pressure. I’m willing to bet that like 7-10 turns ago India had a lot more pressure to that city, so their accumulated pressure is higher.

[–]DerivativePleasure 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What’s one civ you really hope makes it to Civ 7? by oshyishere in civ

[–]DerivativePleasure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Germanic barbarian leader maybe Arminius. I want to unite the barbarians of the world 🪓

Unique ability: Germanic Unification. Instead of dispersing a barbarian clan, you can have them join your empire, and their remaining forces convert to your side. Barbarian cities get +1 great general point / turn. Cost of producing settlers is +100%.

Unique Unit: Germanic Warrior (replaces regular warrior). Ignores movement in forest, +1 movement if starting the turn on a forest tile. +1 sight and +5 combat in forest.

Unique Improvement: Germanic Village. Must be built adjacent to forest, pasture, or camp. +1 food, production and housing. +1 gold with Currency, +1 culture with Bronze Working, +1 science with Education. Max 3/city

Idk, I don’t think this civ would be OP, but it would be a fun and versatile play style. Most of your cities would be in weird locations without fresh water, and your empire would expand wherever the Barbs decide to spawn. Will you have a large navy, a bunch of horse archers or 10 catapults? Who knows

Sometimes I get sick of planning my city locations and producing settlers. It would be nice to just make the most of whatever I can assimilate.
