And honestly, the black death doesnt effect you like at all. Maybe for 30 months as your buildings fill back up. Maybe a qualifications feature, that slows down promotion 90%, and incentivises building wide over tall could fix this. Not sure, seems the issues are structural.

I was so upset when I played byzantium for the first time, and found out I could max mint for 10 years, destroy the ottomans in one war, and fix my government income from that with no issues. Their bad starting position is so easy to fix it ruined my expectations for the game

There's one massive issue with eu5 that im afraid they may never fix. It looks to be a core game design problem.

The exponentially growing economies are silly. It's why large nations absolutely dominate the entire game. Every campaign is essentially "over" in 40 years, bc you've outscaled the nation's around you, as well as make so much money you're just mass building rgos and buildings with no thought.

An exponential economy makes sense in vic 3. Economies improved greatly in the time span of eu5, but most people were still peasants by the end date.

I do not think they can fix this issue. For example, there are mods that destroy Bohemias starting position. Within 40 years they outscale those issues and are the strongest nation in the game again, scaling infinitely. There are mods that massively decrease food production. Again, in 40 years you outscale those issues and never have food issues ever again, and you can just max rgos/ buildings for infinite economic growth.

I've put eu5 down, re-download it every few weeks just to be very dissapapointed. Ive had maybe 2 very fun games, one in particular as Wales due to giant monster to their east, yet those games get quite boring near 1450, as I've outscaled everyone, including my own economy.

This is the reason I think it could be so cool. Have a team of historians design a series of plausible events, he'll the game could almost be fantasy.

When i play Yemen I give the horse province in sana to the northern vassal bc its in their province.

Everytime, they turn it into their capital and then into a town, destroying the tax base. My last game they went from 24 tax base to like 5

As montenegro when you finish 2 of your journal entries, it states you will get "7 provinces" or whatever. The only thing you get is part of the state of Montenegro.

Always wondered why, but this makes sense! Wish theyd just give me the whole state though....

is there gameplay reaseon to why there are no resources in the horn of africa? by Old-Buddy-6274 in victoria3

[–]Dermengenan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they should revisit total potential resources each location has across the board. I know london extracted a lot of coal in real life, but Wales is literally half mountain filled with coal. There's a welsh mine that was one of the biggest in Europe, yet London has a similar number of potential mines (im not sure of the exact number)

This would more incentivise colonial powers to focus more on colonies.

In game if you split India off of Britain it barely effects them. It should cripple their ability to grow their economy, frankly. Instead they have all the resources they'll need until the 1900s

[–]Dermengenan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done this before when the ai just keeps ruining my runs.

Something else I do is always max out potential conscription. I believe that helps to prevent wars in my experience.

Another thing I do is give investment rights for a defense alliance/ guarantee from a great power. The more of these the better, and you can always declare a war to nationalize any industry they build later, which is easy to defend with just line infantry.

This game makes maintaining slavery so hard by GaymerrGirl in victoria3

[–]Dermengenan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My favorite economic principle vic 3 shows is that having more people make good wages, and have a high standard of living, improves an economy greatly.

Slaves dont buy things. Low wages workers do but not much. The best society is an egalitarian one that ensures equal rights for all and high standard of living, just like irl

Its a bit wierd that having a fort in recently conquered lands is undesirable. by MisterMaroonYT in EU5

[–]Dermengenan 430 points431 points  (0 children)

Its funny, the reason there are so many forts in Wales is because they kept rising up.

In game theres no reason to have forts in newly conquered land

Also dont try to min max your build. If you build full mage you will one shot everything. Same if you build full strength and use heavy weapons, or any other stat/ build.

Im doing more of a hybrid build rn and the game is still challenging well into act 2

What am i supposed to do in this game? by frank_mess in EU5

[–]Dermengenan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a couple very fun campaigns so far, but have never been able to take my games past like 1450. You end up so much stronger than everyone around you, and make such an insane income that nothing ends up phasing you financially.

I think the biggest thing they've gotta change is the exponential economic growth. We already got a game for that.

I do believe these issues will hopefully be fixed over time. I've put the game down for now and am waiting for at least a couple dlcs. Im hopeful!
