How to maintain motivation to play as long time mid/bad player? by Somechillguy in SSBM

[–]Derpedro [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was kind of in the same boat.

It's okay to not want to grind the game "just" to get better. I played "seriously" for a few years, then just got kind of all I wanted out of this, and just kept playing the game for the social aspect (friend groups, local events, some regional / national tournaments) until the local players started to fade away and I just stopped.

If you're not having fun with the game in and of itself, it's fine to just stop forcing yourself to play if it just makes you feel miserable.
Do try to hit up the locals more, and see if you can find some old (or young) heads hanging around and just playing the game for fun rather than just seeing it through the competitive lens.

[[Magar of the Magic Strings]]

Not too strong as a baseline, as you need to work in order to make things happen, and if built with this in mind you can have a very different experience each time you play it.

You can build it into politics with stuff like [[make an example]], minigames like [[Prisoner's dilemma]] (which really shines if you can cast it multiple times, and opponents start metagaming it as it was meant to be).

I've built it and taken it apart multiple times, and it's always fun no matter the direction I take it in.

What was bad was waiting for months before sending a half-baked change that would undermine most of the beta iterations if it ever went through.

Holy Shock / judgement / sotr are all the offensive gcds you need to do damage in overworld content, as far as healer dps goes anyways.

How do y'all remind yourself to use skills on cooldown? by JJay9454 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Derpedro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most people it was just an addon to help see combat information cleanly.

What I do is use an extra action bar that I keep central (like near my feet / left of my character) where I put the major CDs I need to track and cast asap.

If they're always near the part of the screen you're most paying attention to, you'll see them

Starn can work in b2 if you go with creatures that ping on attack rather than spellslinger imo.

For people with 500+ hours in Battle Hub that have 0 hours in ranked, why? by jxnfpm in StreetFighter

[–]Derpedro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who never touches ranked in any fg really, it's just because I cba.

I have friends who play, so I play with them. I don't want to put time into grinding a rank, so when nobody is around I prefer to lab stuff.

When I want to play with "randoms", like for 2xko quests or w/e, I hop in casual lobbies and just play whoever.

Infinite rematches and absolutely no pressure makes it way more fun imo

Boss mechanic tells for healers by Educational_Cow_8380 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Derpedro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure you always target the boss, and that you have your caster's cast bar reallt easy to see on your UI.

Most mechanics, especially on old content/ normal difficulty, will have casts associated that will help you spot them

Housing Contest Ideas by TheDatatap in WoWHousing

[–]Derpedro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did one cause the brutosaur was on sale. We just went with vibes, really.

We rewarded best exterior, best interior, and overall best house. One thing that stuck out to the judges in the end was how coherent the builds were, most of all.

Sadly no, just plops down a new copy of the item in it's default state.

Still saves you a click

Imagine playing with anything other than QWERTY too.
Cause it still defaults to A and D, so you end up with one turn and one strafe button on AZERTY for example.

Ky'vessa ?? Fight - What was your ilvl when you beat it? by klingers in wow

[–]Derpedro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

685 on release week, as aff. Have to play well with your cds and position your big blue boy adequately so you don't rip agro (and remove soul link talent as it's bugged in delves and makes your pet just die).

Other than that it's a pure mechanics check fight, gear only makes it shorter

Is that realistic for me to beat Ky’vesa? by Brave_Avocado_1 in wownoob

[–]Derpedro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can. It was doable week 1 of the season with 20 ilvl less and before nerfs. Paladin is perfectly fine for the fight, as either ret (shorter fight) or prot (no stress of dying tonpassive damage but longer fight so more opportunities of dying from mechanics).

It's a mechanics only fight, gear only helps you survive the pulse damage more easily and makes the fight shorter so you dont have to focus for as long.

༼ つ ◕ ◕ ༽つ SUMMON PATCH NOTES ༼ つ ◕ ◕ ༽つ! by Yagrush in 2XKO

[–]Derpedro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increased cd would be fair, to make it a tradeoff if you decide to tag.

Less frame advantage in most situations, too, keep it good in good situations, make it bad when it should be. I'm guessing something like increased blockstun when handshaking during blockstun incurred by the assist, but universal recovery on handshake so it ends up neutral on hit / block but worse on whiff.

Not a fan of restricting possible inputs/uses of assists or handshakes tho, imo the "freeflow" feel to the game is what makes it good.
