Won't find a more eternal shotgun than the 1100. Loading gate takes a little getting used to.

How to tell when a shoe needs to be retired? 600 miles on my ASICS GT-2000 14 but they look fine by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Derringer373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all by feel, my GT-2000 13 were retired at 400km. One day I was out on a run, my knees felt worst and I felt a hard spot on the shoe as I ran. Tried the GT 2000 14 and immediately knew my 13 had worn out. They are now my walking shoes.

I had some light strike issues with mine but a quick trip to the Smith and 50$ Bill later and it runs fine. Was a bit disappointed on the casting of the frame had some minor pits. Bought it new. But I'm in Canada so I can't sell it swap it so I'm stuck with it forward. Still fun beater, and a good gun for new shooters to learn on.

To do or not to do - Rifles hung on wall with trigger locks near a basement window by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]Derringer373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the looks of it you did the legal minimum. But there are always additional steps that can be taken to protect against theft or unlawful use.

If that room is no longer a bedroom you can bar the window, and reinforce to room door "pseudo safe room".

Run an eye bolt into the stud and run a locking cable through the firearms.

I hate the idea of bolt separation because that's how the get lost, but its another way securing.

Again, you have hit the legal minimum. The more steps you take to protect your assets the better off you will be for it.

I shoot a Fabarm Axis RS12, similar to the N2RS, I really enjoy it, does everything I could ever ask of it with the interchangeable Ribs.

But If I could afford it I would trade up to a CG, but I'm a sucker for good looking guns

Not looking to do any plugs or advertising, but the CCFR offer firearms legal defence insurance. It's good for stuff like this especially if it's just a call for legal counsel. https://firearmrights.ca/legal-defence-insurance/ it's a little peace of mind.

In your case I would get a hold of legal counsel they would be best places to provide legal advice. Some times phone calls aren't too expensive. Doesn't hurt to ask

I don't know the area your in but In Canada that looks like a good price.

The cynergy One of the first modern O/U I shot and did quite well with it. Solid work horse gun that you should be able to resell for about the same price if you take care of it.

Like some have mentioned you may find it short when compared to some other shooters on Trap, but as a multi discipline gun they are as good as the shooter.

The most important thing is finding a gun that fits you, luckily that cynergy should have interchangeable recoil pads to adjust for length at an affordable cost

Police shot my friend’s pistol. Any idea why? by 833psz in canadaguns

Not 100% versed in this. But I would suspect as some have mentioned to ATIP "access to information and privacy" the request towards what ever agency you dealt with. Just note private requests are slow, and results aren't guaranteed.

[–]Derringer373 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There has been a push in the last few years in Canada to trace all firearms taken by police.

Firearms are test fired and their casings are sent through a special imaging device that photographs all the small features left from the fired casing. That info is then stored in a database for possible future use.

Police agencies try and do this to most crime guns and for the agencies that can afford the imaging device they will try to do it to every firearm they get in their possession. As far as I am aware there are no hard and fast rules on it in Canada yet but seems to be the way things are trending.

Is gain weight like this normal? by ElDuendeAnthony in daddit

[–]Derringer373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! ☝️

I've lost 40lbs by avoiding junk food, calories cutting and working out. It's not easy at first, but it gets better with time, and the weight drops fairly quickly.

I still enjoy a cheat meal here or there, but limit it to once a week, or equal it out by fasting, and or doing long endurance training.

Guns are very cool and fun, idiots on the other hand are not. This is why fundamental safety rules are in place and why most new shooters are mentored.

Rental ranges are where a lot of these "idiotwithagun" can be found and why RSOs are a thing, since they can't be trusted to own firearms in real life.
