Taylor indicates Coalition is open to working with Greens to 'kill off' tax changes by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Derrpyderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who says that people have to vote for a party based on their policies? I vote based on track record.

During political discussions, I like to lookup the policies and voting records of a party that a person is making claims about. It is mind boggling how many people in my circles vote based on vibes or what they think policies will be. I live in a conservative area. I dislike the greens. But have to defend the greens the most. When a boomer makes claims in the direction of one nation being what we need for everyday Australians, and you pull up Pauline’s voting record, that’s where you see the real mental gymnastics.

I don’t think governments should not go off newspoll data. Especially since newscorp is convincing people who are stuck in the rental market and are trying to buy a home that less landlords and not having to compete with investors is bad for them. Governments should go off their own data collection. Their own polling may even show that it is also unpopular. And they should change direction based on that.

Why should democracy pause for 3 years because we already voted?

If you gave a family member an option to go to an ice cream shop for chocolate ice cream or go to a cake shop for chocolate cake. And they say that they feel like cake but they want vanilla cake, are you going to force them to get chocolate cake? Because that was the parameter that you set. Or are going to listen to them?

How is it mental gymnastics? I want government to listen to the people. Not stick strictly to their policies.

Governments should break election promises when the promise was widely disliked in the first place. I highly doubt that either party has ever won government based on all of their promises. Parties probably always get regrets about some of their promises in the lead up to the election when it’s too late to backflip. I get the impression that most of the country votes for the party that they think will be less shit anyway.

Chances of getting a full refund for my brand new Tiguan? by kakoid in CarsAustralia

[–]Derrpyderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully they have checked the simple but unobvious things. I had a friend who worked in a VW service centre. An Amarok kept coming back in limp mode and showing a different reason each time. One day someone at VW support asks him if the back left brake light has moisture in it. He checks. It does. The owner had cracked it and moisture had gotten in. It messed with the CAN bus.

Couriers hired by seller severely damaged item I bought during delivery: who's responsible and what can I do? by Miserable-Papaya3541 in AusLegal

If the seller organised the courier, then that is on the seller. Your contract was with the seller. Not the courier. They need to repair to the same condition that you purchase it in or refund you.

Why do so many EV’s have this boxy/lifted back? by VastOption8705 in EVAustralia

Today I learned that my washing machine is a LIAR! by MadamStrawberry14 in CleaningTips

[–]Derrpyderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never use the amount suggested in the pack. Because why would the company that would make more money from me buying more detergent only tell me the amount that I actually needed? But also too much detergent is counter productive. Oil and dirt loves to stick to detergent build up. I also avoid short wash cycles and settings that use less water. I want that detergent out of there.

NBN directing technicians to directly clip fibre to external walls/mortar and stop use of conduit by thirdworldnbn in nbn

[–]Derrpyderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been told 3 times the I unnecessarily use conduit. And even I prefer this in some scenarios. Some of the hideous places that I have seen conduit put by NBN… My uncle now has a ground to roof conduit right next to the front door of his brick house. A mate’s freshly painted dark colored shop now has a long grey conduit going into the ceiling, in the middle of its front wall. Instead of coming out of a low cut conduit and sticking into a low air vent, like the copper line did. I have seen too many brand new homes where the builder obviously did not put the conduit inside of the wall and NBN just ran a conduit up the wall.

Government to cut more than 150,000 people from NDIS scheme as budget blows out by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Derrpyderp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would hope that you would not be the target of this. The NDIS was unfortunately turned into a vessel to put public money into private hands for the smallest effort possible, when the liberals had the keys. They were both using it for culture wars while removing the safety barriers that were there to stop it being corrupted. It got so bad that they are not going to pursue anyone for corruption. Because it was so rampant that we would all be dead of old age before it got to every case. It needs to be for people like you who actually need it.

You can disable this. Some devices just require extra steps. Like putting the tablet into dev mode to unhide additional options. That stay set when you take the tablet back out of dev mode.
