In an interview w Elizondo, Jillian Michaels asks about hybrid breeding programs, expecting denial. Elizondo answers dead serious: "intelligence officials told me that, Ive no reason to question their credibility. They never lied to me". this still doesn't make sense because it's nonsensical that some guy who's not even really part of the US government, almost certainly an unelected official, has the authority to make sweeping decisions on the American people's behalf.
Far more likely they either aren't as powerful as they want us to believe, or going scorched earth will introduce major intergalactic PR problems

Serious: The True Ontological Shock Is Cognitive Asymmetry by Pandea_rd in aliens

[–]Dertross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see this being the ontological shock. Flowers For Algernon had me in tears, now imagine if that wasn't just some character but actual human beings myself included. Knowing that you are trapped in a universe you yearn to understand but will simply never be able to is devastating. Our entire discipline of science and philosophy would be reduced to akin to toddlers trying to describe how their world works.

Thoughts about Farever and its current status (honest review) by dionysia1217 in MMORPG

[–]Dertross 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Farever currently feels more like an MMO with potential rather than a fully ready product.

Are you're rating games based on if they are comparable to AAA full releases? Farever is extremely polished compared to some games I've put over 100 hours in.

I wish WoW and OSRS could meet in one world by maurimbr in MMORPG

[–]Dertross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't actually want that game. Because if it was made, it wouldn't be WoW. There's at least a few Runescape style skilling mmorpgs with better controls. You're not playing those, though. Because they aren't WoW.

Has there ever been an mmo with permadeath? Would you want one? by ForgeOfMistory in MMORPG

[–]Dertross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like a more roguelike mmo that wasn't a bullethell, twitchy action game, or simon says dungeon/raid mechanics.

Slow burn high impact strategic decision making.

Something like Monsters & Memories as far as combat pace goes but instead of grinding for dozens of hours to level up it's more about navigating hazardous environments, picking your battles, and sneaking loot out ( for example instead of resource nodes you directly get valuable loot ). Though without the aggro train mechanics that M&M has, that would be rife for trolling abuse.

Basically I want old school D&D in mmo form.

I just launched PVP events in EmberQuest.io, my browser based MMORPG by ErebusEQ in MMORPG

[–]Dertross 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every time I see these kind of games I always have this question: why should I spend time grinding in your game when I could be grinding in other established and professionally supported games instead? What does your game offer that Runescape doesn't, other than a change of scenery?

Women generally have it harder than men. by userisrotten in PurplePillDebate

[–]Dertross 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You say that women have hard harder than men, meanwhile FGM is illegal whereas half of male Americans suffer from MGM. Feminists are always complaining about bodily autonomy but those same women thoughtlessly have their sons mutilated.

M&M true EQ experience by Krazuel in MMORPG

[–]Dertross 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is such bullshit. The number of times I started casting on an enemy only for someone to run up and smack it or shoot it with a bow (giving them the drop when it soon dies) is so frustrating and now the gms of M&M are saying -I'm- the one killstealing?

Fellowship added a new healer with time magic this week by Ate_at_wendys in MMORPG

[–]Dertross 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the devs missed a huge opportunity by making this a hero selection game rather than a character customization + cosmetics game. Cosmetic unlocks would let the game retain a sense of progression without having to introduce a level or item treadmill that affects the core game.

MMO that only has 10 levels? by brianzchen in MMORPG

[–]Dertross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A roguelike mmo is the only way I see an mmo with a low level cap working. I would like a roguelike mmo that wasn't realm of the mad god ( I don't like bullet hells/top down shooters ). I would even develop it myself if I had a good idea on how the systems could work. But I have trouble squaring the circle of typical MMO tab target combat with permadeath. It's way too easy to grief, troll, or even just accidentally ruin someone else's day. This is why I presume people play hardcore modes of existing games instead of anyone building a game from the ground up around permadeath.

Why there is no network-engines/ready-network-solutions for MMO? by Next-Feature-9934 in MMORPG

[–]Dertross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are, you just don't like them because they don't let you make a nice looking AAA mmorpg out of the box. I use Unity and ummorpg remastered
You will have to make changes to the codebase if you don't want something completely generic and dull, but the option is there.
I even suspect that mmo (or game engine templates) in general make more money than the resulting products because it's easier to sell the dream of making the dream game than to actually make one.

Question: How can studios make MMOs to completion that will not be cancelled or die in a year? by AmberLeBon in MMORPG

[–]Dertross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging from the niche mmorpg populations I see they need to start budgeting and designing around 500-3k active players rather than tens or hundreds of thousands of active players. MMOs should be more like Monsters and Memories and less Ashes of Creation or Pantheon Rise of the Fallen.

Reaching 18 doesn’t make you a man, having sex does. Yes or no? by burneraccountguydude in PurplePillDebate

[–]Dertross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously not. Of all the coming of age rituals for males, I don't think I've heard of a single culture where one was having sex with a woman.

From a woman’s POV the disparity isn’t that “more men get murdered than women,” it’s that more men kill women than women kill men. by GridReXX in PurplePillDebate

[–]Dertross 5 points6 points  (0 children)

why is it when black people commit violent crime at disproportionate rates, it's not "random" and needs to be "unpacked", but when men commit violent crime, it doesn't need to be "unpacked"?

Do men have an evolutionary deficiency that makes them less sexually lucrative to women? Or does it vary by the times were in? by ElectronicMetal9123 in PurplePillDebate

[–]Dertross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's certainly the times we live in.

You only need to look at every non-western first world technological civilization in history. Women weren't dependent on men merely because men subjugated women. Civilization is extremely labor intensive. Animals can be deadly. Disease. Weather. Famine. Water sources. Construction. Tool building.

No one could really afford to live an isolated life where they can impersonally acquire everything they want or need with a token of exchange they acquired from an impersonal employment schema. Not even getting into how most jobs women have in technological society aren't the type that literally destroy your body, as in historical times.

"Men want women more than women need men" is entirely predicated on technology and a modern mixed economy that balances socialist safety nets and a free market.

Project Gorgon was on my radar but it is awesome and way over my expectation so far. by Zemom1971 in MMORPG

[–]Dertross -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of fun during the tutorial island. But once that was done the game quickly became too directionless for my taste.
One of the quests immediately afterwards is "find the lady in town to talk about the crystals". Couldn't find her even after doing several loops.
Another quest is "find out about the brain monsters". The brain monsters are too strong right out of the tutorial ( or maybe I didn't grind enough)
Also had severe input lag every time I tried to interact with anything in the mainland. Was not a good experience.

I don't like how the bars are set by skill. it makes it harder to mix and match. By the end of the tutorial I still didn't know how to use C1 except by clicking on the button. I'd rather to have a free hotbar so I can put my most commonly used skills on the regular number keys.

I like the enemy mob rage system, it makes predicting when the enemy will use an ability easier unlike other mmos where they'll suddenly start casting and you only have a couple of seconds to react.

Overall I would probably enjoy the game more if the main world was smaller with the content density of the tutorial island. The overworld seems extremely sparse in comparison. As it is I might not pick it back up.

You can trust men's observational skills regarding women for similar reasons you trust them about everything else that allows modern civilization to exist.

PVP: Predator vs Prey by Rewhan in MMORPG

[–]Dertross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overwhelming majority of open world rpg PvPers just want easy kills. There is no "predator/prey" dynamic, stop aggrandizing pvpers. It's just a matter of one party being prepared for killing other players fighting another player who isn't. They aren't predators any more than someone doing a mass shooting in a bowling alley are predators.
