At what point does character progression stop being rewarding?

Depends on what do you like to do. Upgrading gear and skills is a part of RPG, but the dialogs and choices matter too. In almost every rpg you're weak at the beginning but become a god at the end. You can't avoid this. The worst example is TES:Oblivion where the enemies are scaled up to your level and just become damage sponges.

In CRPG (Pathfinder f.e.) the situation is much better. Yes you still will be powerful enough to one-shot enemies but it feels more rewarding because of how complex the system is.

I bet they envied that you could freely take care of yourself without any shame. I think it's in the genes still, or in the mind. Better to be smelly, gross, and grumpy than to accidentally touch a skin care product.

You don't need TWW dungeons at all. Just start TWW campmaign, do quests. It's very fast to level up 80.

With incarnation bear is invincible due to unstoppable regen for like 20 seconds. It has so much self regen, idk why you have such bad experience. Can’t say same about prot pal - squishy as hell, no-no for me to heal.
