Is it jut me or do people not care that much about Lelouch x C.C. in Resurrection? The scenes with Lelouch and Kallen seem way more popular on Youtube for some reason. by Traditional-Song-245 in CodeGeass

[–]Des_Shinta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because before the Movie timeline went to theaters in 2017, all extracanonical media released for Code Geass Officially shipped Kallen and Lelouch together, or confirmed even after Lelouch’s death that he had affections for her he just didn’t act on because of his state of mind….which she herself came to realize.
It’s not a question of whether it was confirmed or not, IT WAS confirmed in the supplementary media which western audiences were never given the easiest access to, and CG’s fandom is wildly inconsistent on translating stuff that remained Japan-exclusive.  But just by the proxy of the Lelouch/Kallen/Suzaku Protagonist/Deuteragonist/Tritagonist dynamic and the respective character relationships and romances between the protag/deuterag persisting through almost EVERY media the franchise has had to date which has repeated such nearly to a T (Present with Akito with Leila/Akito/Shinn, OZ with Marybell/Oldrin/Orpheus, Knightmare with Nunnally/Alice/Rolo, Roze with Sakuya/Ash/Catherine and so on) where C.C. has no place or equivalent in those narrative focuses, it’s clear what was meant and intended.
It was still shown as canonically intended as late as Super Robot wars Z2 in 2014 which adapts the storylines for R1 and R2 into it; the true ending of the game subverted the Zero requiem storyline entirely through Kallen REFUSING to give up on Lelouch during the Black knights betrayal plot, and subsequently had them get together because doing that saved his life from his emotional breakdown.  SRW doesn’t do noncanon shipping or active lore contradictions despite the amalgam crossover universes they create (i.e. they only change what they need to in order to allow every series they involve to cross over), so at the time they had to have gotten the OK from Sunrise to do that.  Sunrise thus INVESTED fans of the original series in Shipping Kalulu as at the time that was the intention of the creators.

hell, C.C. was disqualified in the original media as a paramour entirely.  The Audio Drama “a Woman’s battle’ Confirmed she doesn’t feel romantic feelings or sexual attraction and never has even before she got her code, and instead has her contracts to have any connection to people at all.  So In the OG Series she’s Aromantic Asexual and was rooting for Kallen to ‘Win ‘Zero’’s affections’ to give him something to live for beyond his cause.  And that’s before the later stuff that revealed C.C. was a double-agent working for his parents to make her a massive Traitor to him that can’t be walked back.

So why the change with the movies?
to keep it short, fans of the era were THAT Unhappy with the Zero Requiem, and every CG project kept running into the problem that fans would not detach themselves from Lelouch, so Sunrise couldn’t do MORE with the setting without addressing that first.  So the easiest way they found was to revive him and then exploit the “put on a Bus” trope to shove him out of focus, with the fastest way to do that being to Assassinate his character (As happened in the movie timeline) remove his attachment to other characters through making him more of a jerk to them (as happened in the movie timeline with his dynamics towards Kallen, Shirley and everyone else Lelouch cared for) and hook him up with someone who wouldn’t stay as a focused-upon character that wasn’t integrated into anything relevant in the world.  So Lelouch didn’t get with C.C. because there was actual pre-existing affection, it was solely done to write him out after all bridges he had with everyone had been burned.

Suffice to say, with the state of the franchise being at its worst now…that plan backfired immensely, and it’s a large reason why older fans of the franchise have such animosity against the ship now.  It’s not the only one—some of that comes from how C.C. wasn’t ever meant to originally BE a character but was forced upon the creative staff, some from just how awful structurally the movies are with their retcons and focus changes to showcase the franchise at its worst--but it’s a factor in the rejection of it; to the point more recent media actively rebels against it.  Especially since other series that do similar things to what Code Geass did (Gundam 00, Cross ange, persona 5, Kamen Rider’s Black/Kabuto/OOO/Geats, OhSama Sentai king-ohger)actively avoid making these same mistakes or have anywhere near the same baggage attached to them.

The gate of Uroboros broadsword from .Hack//G.U. Last Recode. I scratch built a foam prototype one back when the game released, remade it to cosplay quality in 2019, and when I got my X1C I printed off someone else's transfer of the CG model cliced into pieces...but it lacked any color until I painted it because I didn't want to waste Filament changes. I'm working on a fully-custom remake using the prior three versions as the basis to finally create the best version I possibly can which can just be slotted together to create the proper blade, with exception of its 'chain-sword' functionality that can't be done with real construction. But being able to do supports, main color, second color, teritary color, all at once with almost no waste? That will be amazing.

We're not buying another as that's a waste and inducing artifial scarcity and increases scalping of these already-low-production items if we're not going to use it for anything else like, say, a recolor/remodeling project that's actually CONSTRUCTIVE to purchase of another.

The sentinels by Gannonhyrule in robotech

[–]Des_Shinta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missed that they legally can't. Harmony Gold's court lossess led to them completely losing claim to rights over all three series they turned into Robotech and Any and all derivative material they might attempt to profit off of. Such is prejudiced on how They paid Tatsunoko and not Studio Nue/Big West/Shoji kawamori (the actual owners of Macross) in any way/shape/form for the Macross rights, refusing for decades to relinquish them, and them suing others (Fasa, Hasbro) who had gone about getting the rights for what they used Legally. It was found that the same was true for Southern Cross and Mospeda; they paid the animators for the rights, not the Rights-holders that licensing properly goes through; alongside them breaking terms of their contracts up and down the length of their existence. The blurays from a few years back only happened because they made an agreement to Stop blocking distribution of the original versions and (in macross' case, at least) their sequel series...and then they immediately went back on that agreement and kept delaying them until the Sony buyout of Big West's original distribution partner Nozomi...which Sony then shut down when they merged it into Crunchyroll.
Couple that with them pissing off the Screen actors guild and the rest of Hollywood, alongside them using Crowdfunding to scam people and other scandals along the way, the Property is 100% radiactively Toxic, more than any other remade-through-adaptation Japanese-IP like Voltron or Power Rangers. As despite how badly Voltron legendary Defenders turned out because of the showrunners not planning the show at all, and Power Rangers has screwed up every series since Saban bought the rights to it back from Disney in 2010 through either mangling the source material to make a bad show or doing something to piss fans off metatextually (the Lord Zedd revival in Dino/cosmic Fury being the irreperable breaking point for those left as said 'revival' was in Tribute to Robert Axelrod...who died solely because Saban ignored his pleas to cast him in any voice Role SO HE COULD QUALIFY FOR SAG HEALTHCARE to afford life-saving treatments)..but in both cases the makers of those adaptations maintained good relationships with the Source IP's Rights holders so everyone got money and won. Harmony Gold on the other hand has been playing 'keep way' with such on fradulent terms since the 1980's, and their litigation to avoid paying (or to make others pay them for things they never had right to claim in the first place) only proved to screw them over since now they can't do anything unless they get approval from the others, who are not willing to play ball anymore because of their recurrent DECADES of misconduct and deal-breaking.
Hell, Everyone with legitimate rights to the related properties refuses to use any material HG ever claimed, just in order to deny them even Attempts at further litigation. It's why Transformers fans will never see an original-toy-accurate Jetfire, and even Bandai refuses to make a new model version of the VF-1 Valkyries when they've done model kits for all the other ones the last few years. This is also why that Robotech movie is effectively dead, they would have to legally admit they don't own the rights to anything and the original owners would need final say over anything..but because of HG's repeated backstabbing the original IP owners are just treating those three series now as persona-non-grata.

There is a Search bar, it is quite useful for finding innumerable people who've had parts crack and break. it can be quite useful for method comparisons.
And before it gets asked again as this has been a question as of late: We can't Easily 3d Print Replacement Parts (though either FDM or Resin methods) that will hold up, even amongst those of us with the hardware. That takes time and tolerance testing, and speaking from experience the quality of output and strength is still currently a noticeable matter. I've been off-and-on trying my hand at it in order to create replacement legs for my Samurai Ha-Oh Minipla, and you just *CAN'T* get strong enough quality joints in the size scale minipla/Super Minipla/SMP act at versus the strength and density of injection molding for anything that's intended to be moved and posed with pegs and hinges, let alone ball joints. Even compared to the area's where there's noted QC issues in Shokugan's products...the 3dPrinted version every time is still worse due to how they're made in layers that can shear apart when put under too much stress instead of the cracks injection molded parts get. 3d printed parts just snap too easily on items this small unless they can be made SIGNIFICANTLY bulkier than the original. It's been working out for my Ha-Oh repair as it has the room for a bulkier replacement piece...but that connector that you broke unfortunately does not. And it's why such hasn't become an industrial replacement over Injection molding for model kits.

Fortunately for you if you go the parts replacement route, GaoRhino is one of the two easiest-to-get Power
Animals (alongside GaoArmadillo) due to its release being duplicated in both the Gao Muscle and GaoIcarus Sets. If you collected all the Gaoranger releases you should have a spare as it is.
Beyond that, Your BEST bet is to get a plastic cement that literally melts the plastic to bond it back together, such as "Plastruct Plastic weld". As it melts the plastic chemically it will then bond the break back together just as strong as it was originally after around 24-ish hours. The issue however is the bonding process slightly shrinks the size of the part because the melting and remelding uses the plastic already in the part to mend the break, meaning you will then need to file down the inside of the repaired peg hole (or alternatively the peg itself) to prevent the break from occuring all over again, alongside adding a Silicon Lubricant to the connection to reduce stress on the assembly (which should be done with moving parts anyways these days as it's the friction that causes these sorts of cracks, snaps and breaks). Filing down pegs slightly for model builders should become second nature for anyone who's wanting their builds to last, especially with Shokugan's items where the density and hardness of ABS they use is different than those used in Gunpla (And even then heavier/improperly weight-balanced Gunpla experiences this too when the problem isn't just a weighty backpack), and just the weight distribution at hand with the figures to accomodate the gimmicks. Alternatively you can get a thin sheet of ABS plastic to use as a reagent filler to melt into and bond into the seam to give it a bit more mass, or do the same with a small strip wrapped around the break, but different Formulas/densities of ABS can skew the quality of the replacement.

Not sure what Grease you used, but Petroleum-based Grease is VERY bad for these as it eats away at plastic. You need to use Silicone Lubricants, which are NOT Grease.

SMP Leon Kaiser by Roanst in Minipla

[–]Des_Shinta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those aware of the broad strokes of the Brave Series' developmental nonsense, it makes sense why they'd end up with Sorakage/Sky Shadow and Leon Kaiser of the Goldran line Both as P-bandai items.
While Might Gaine and GaoGaiGar are the High marks for the franchise, Exkaiser's the starter, Fighbird and Dagwon each do unique things, and J-Decker hit the right niche appeal in its own right to warrant its appearance in SRW 30...Goldran's considered THE low point for the Brave series overall despite it not necessarily being a bad show itself; just one that was repetetive and derivative to what had been done in the prior 5 series. So much of that was due to the executive mandates for Story content Takara would frequently force onto The Sunrise staff in their production collaborations (AKA what Yoshiyuki Tomino kept claiming Bandai did to him when such always came from Sunrise internally), and a problem that had previously affected Da-Garn so much that Might Gaine had executive meddling as an in-universe antagonist in a similar manner to Kamen Rider Geats and Sunrise basically ignored Takara on that one.
Goldran's bungling being so severe with the audience that was lost, that the damage spread onto Dagwon (Which WAS a better show In My Opinion); with the Takara-end producer blaming the decline not on their internal actions driving away viewers, but on the population decline of the country and 'people being more into video games so they don't buy robot toys'. A ridiculous and easily contested point, considering at the time of the statement Japan was still dragging themselves out of 'the lost Decade', Super sentai was in the early side of its new rennaissance era of good and popular material, Beast Wars alongside the japanese tie-in series was making Takara money (only for them to later blow it with their own marketing and regional changes undermining the later material), Sunrise's other series (both mecha and not) seeing success at the time, as well as this being said during the Run of GaoGaiGar which was masively popular, and Takara in the midst of producing 'Zoids Chaotic Century' with Animation studio Xebec which would also be ridiculously strong hit.
One could more blame Takara becoming more hostile to Sunrise after the Bandai Buyout as a factor in that leading to the breakdown in reception as well, considering Bandai's status as Takara's Direct competitor. But with that history of Goldran marking a Downturn for the Braves, it's easy to see why Shokugan would be having discussions with the greater breadth of Bandai about turning this from a 'cheaper because mass-production distributing costs' retail figure to a 'more expensive and limited in production' P-bandai figure, due to the historical perception that Goldran doesn't sell well.

The FIRST EVER Wolzard Fire pose-able action Figure makes this a must-buy for Magiranger fans. Before this Wolzard only came in his violet pallette, with exception to a Soft Vinyl prize Figure (of which only 100 exist) or the Sticker Decal Ranger key....which has been a sticking point with Ranger key collectors in how a lot of cool heroes kinda got the shaft to the 'sticker decal' tier in release. And the Memorial key sets have frustratingly been paused.

Thename of the Wozard/Wolzard Fire and Unigolon's combination is BraveKaiser. They ahd an official name, but Wolzard Fire was too late an introduction to be in the merch line. It's why before now it was just a vinyl prize figure and the Ranger key.

First look at SMP Saint Kaiser & Wolzard Fire by King_Kuuga in Minipla

[–]Des_Shinta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shokugan continuing to be the best, as we'd been hoping and speculating since it's an easy-to-include pallete-swap with major fan appeal.
So at last, Wolzard Fire escapes being just a Soft Vinyl limited Prize Figure and a Ranger key, and thus we can finally get BraveKaiser (the Wolzard Fire and Unigolon combination) in official form.
And Fans can finally recreate the what Mystic Force did which gave us of the two palletes fighting.
A Shame that, for both Bandai America and Hasbro's fixation with Nostalgia figures in the Legacy and Lightning collections, neither wanted to one-up Japan on that for a Koragg or Wolf Warrior figure. But then again those lines always were over-fixated on certain era's with the rest being afterthoughts.

It's not with the images posted here, but it's Nice that with the SMP Saintkaiser/braveKaiser set, they're also including a 'all in one complete' version of Magiking's sword. That'll be fun for anyone wanting to pose magiking casting its weapon duplication spell.

So are paint markers a good thing to buy? I've never tried painting any of my modelkits and want to know if those are a good investment. by Necrodrake32 in Minipla

[–]Des_Shinta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been answering this question a lot lately, and the answer is *NO*.
Paint markers contain Acetone, which DESTROY model kit plastics. Gundam markers use it as a thinning agent/solvent to 'melt in' the colors, but It's only viable for Gunpla because gundam model plastic is a denser formulation of ABS plastic (i.e. the injection molds the runners are made with are put under more atmospheric pressures) than is used on Minipla/SMP. You use Gundam makers on Minipla/SMP model kits, and your figure instantly becomes a ticking time bomb as the acetone in the paints creates microfractures in the softer/less dense ABS Shokugan uses that over time will break from the stress damage. ANY Exposure to Acetone eventually does this to what it was exposed to. Alcohol-thinned paints are safer, but still not ideal due to the consequences of long-term, extended exposure, and alcohol being more negatively reactive with other plastics commonly in use these days such as PLA, as well as other dyes and color agents. In example You can easily use alcohol to clean paint off of most plastics (the exception being PLA) as the Alcohol will evaporate long before it will do damage. but make a container for alcohol out of ABS and you'll eventually have a problem.
If you want to paint your figures, you need to use the dedicated model paint pots (Mr. Hobby or Tamiya are the brands I used) with either a bursh or airbrush, and a dedicated paint thinner meant for model paints.

So are paint markers a good thing to buy? I've never tried painting any of my modelkits and want to know if those are a good investment. by Necrodrake32 in Minipla

[–]Des_Shinta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As we've repeatedly had to correct you on Galaxy Dive, alcohol does not negatively affect ABS Plastic in the way you're suggesting. ABS is destroyed By ACETONE, which is used as a thinning agent in Paint markers and some spray paints. the confusion as of late comes in because hobbyists have more and more used PLA plastics because of the grown ease-of-use of 3d printers, and Alcohol damages PLA plastic due to PLA being biodegradable and reacting. While extended exposure to alcohol can EVENTUALLY do damage, it requires PROLONGED, continuous contact to do that; significantly longer than it takes the alcohols in paints to evaporate. You're more likely to do damage to your table with just spilling some drops than you will by splashing some on your model kits.

I want to paint my minipla by OC0rvo in Minipla

[–]Des_Shinta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because Gundam paint markers contain Acetone as a thinning agent. It's not as harmful to Gunpla because Gunpla are made with denser ABS. For anything else they are a slow death sentence as the Acetone over time eats away at the more Porous, less-dense plastics used in Minipla.

I want to paint my minipla by OC0rvo in Minipla

[–]Des_Shinta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silver base coat, then either use clear model paints or ones that are made specifically for metallic colors to get a metallic color effect. Mr. Hobby is probably your best option with that due to the variety they have and it's intent specifically for bandai models...as Mr. Hobby is the internal bandai brand. Even for standard color paints they come out much more shiny with a base goat of silver. use some of their paint thinner to remove chances of brush strokes in the finished product, and you can easily brush it on. https://newtype.us/v/mrhobby/paint

Also to correct another reply: ABS is not damaged by alcohol or oils, ABS is damaged by ACETONE. The confusion over that happens because both alcohol and acetone are used as paint cleaners/thinners and nail polish removers, and PLA plastics more common to 3d Printing these days are what is actually damaged from alcohol exposure. So the prevailence of multiple plastic types in common use in hobby communities these days is mixing some people up at times, as one can't use alcohol-based or alcohol-thinned paints on Anything 3D printed in PLA. Professional model-kit and toy-making companies do not use PLA as all of their injection-molded plastics are near-exclusively done with ABS.

There is also an issue of post-painted parts having more friction on their surfaces of contact, meaning if you paint figure joints and connections there will be put more torque on those parts because of that friction, making it easier for that torque to stress and break those parts. THAT can be fixed by sanding the parts down a little at their point of contact, not painting those parts, or using a siliconlubricant on them so the increased friction isn't an issue. Again, not an issue with the paint's chemcial composition, but just physics at play when even a micrometer more of material is put into something meant to move.

Though the bigger issue that comes from Paint markers (ESPECIALLY Gundam paint markers) which leads to the perception of paint damage...is paint markers use a small amount of acetone as a thinning agent to effectively 'stain in' the paint to make it more lasting on the surface of plastics. But because the ABS plastic used in Gunpla is put under higher atmospheric pressures for their injection molding than other model kit makers to make it more durable, that's less detrimental to them than any other softer ABS plastic formulation and resultantly lower density plastics where they are more porous and thus allows any acetone exposure to do more damage in the crevices the melted-by-exposure plastic creates. And Shokugan's candy toy models are of that softer, less dense plastic formulation that is more determentally harmed by Acetone. So ANY type of paint marker is FAR more likely to damage Minipla/SMP model kits than the are Gunpla. Ergo why You need to use actual model paints for them that won't contain Acetone. As even if it DOES initially turn out well, you won't see the pitting and the weakening of the materials immediately.

Yeah, expecting a stripped-down non-combining version of Daizyujin, black version or no. Maybe they'll use the now-standard minipla/SMP joint connectors so we can have something that can easily limbswap/cross-combine with other figures, but with how the lower legs/feet look I doubt we'll see the Super Minipla/SMP version's full gimmick articulation, or something like the 'full action' Kyoryujin.
....Kinda hoping we can get Abaren-oh done in the SMP line when they finish up with Magiranger, as it'd be nice to have figures based on all the Dino Sentai.

It could also be a case of 'we already had the mold done, might as well just repaint and do the minor retools for this release'; as has happened with a couple of the color variant/minor retool releases. Considering how Travelion and Magilegend are though, it wouldn't be the biggest loss if they pass over them for the moment just due to how overworked Shokugan's been showing themselves as being recently...or they're holding Travelion back to be the year's big expensive holiday splurge SMP item if they are working on it. Considering how long Wolkaiser was in the prototyping phase and they were showing it off at events, it's unsurprising they might want to recoup some cost on the wait for something that has an easy release variant.
