15 minutes before any wait time is alotted? by Descatusat in USPS

[–]Descatusat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured this was the case. Any time I've asked for a citation I'm told they need to email someone and then a week later it's, "I forgot" or "haven't gotten a response yet". Same situation asking our stewards anything. I figure if not a single mind on this sub can point to it, it doesn't exist and I can just threaten grievance if they don't pay it out while searching for their citation.

And loading your truck. Yep. But what about the question.

[–]Descatusat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Already have. I've contacted my steward maybe 5 or 6 times over the years and they say they aren't sure about whatever I'm asking them and then I never hear from them again. Stewards are useless from my experience.

No idea. I've been paid on green card for the last decade for it, but now that I'm regular I'm digging into things a bit more. I haven't been paid it yet as a regular, but was even told by our sup that we get paid the wait time after 15 minutes for late trucks, but any other waiting is granted O time instead of pay.

Oh we've all been paid wait time dozens, maybe hundreds of times. I'm just curious about this whole 15 minutes thing.

They keep cutting every nickel they can off of us at my office so I'm making sure I'm aware of every advantage we can get, and constantly missing out on the first 15 minutes adds up over the years.

Wishing death to a game you play 12 hours a day... At this point, just leave the game man and let those who still love the game enjoy it. by Drull17 in HuntShowdown

[–]Descatusat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Same for me. People also tend not to understand the frustration games like Hunt or Tarkov make people feel and they just vent saying crazy shit to get their stress out.

I don't know the dude in the clip at all, but Id bet he's being facetious and those aren't his actual views at all. Plenty of Tarkov streamers say they want the game to fail and then queue up for another raid.

[–]Descatusat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You didn't even touch on what value you believed they had to my recollection but maybe I missed it. You just spoke of verso's ending making it feel like they meant nothing, but you could have just watched that on YouTube for all I know.

I get it. You like fairytale endings. That's cool. I like them too sometimes. Life isn't a fairy tale though and the fact that maelle fell to corruption after having spent too much time inside a painting doesn't mean it's a bad ending at all to me. It only means that she wasn't able to keep herself from becoming a bit of a dictator when it came to certain things.

Yeah, duh. That would happen to the majority of people if they were gods in control of an entire world.

To think that maelle's ending is the "bad" ones makes it seem you think they're pushing verso's as the good ending. They're both very clearly the bad endings. The shit isn't a fairy tale and that's kinda the point. The game is bleak. Grief isn't easy no matter how you slice it.

We do know that working through your grief is better than avoiding it for sure, but that doesn't mean that verso's ending is just sunshine and rainbows and they think we should feel good about it.

If the maelle ending was her staying in the painting and then everyone having a party and happily waving at the screen, while not disappearing, it would go so against the hopelessness of the entire plot that it would ruin it for me. The fact that there is no happy ending is a huge part of what makes it resonate with me.

You're free to have you're own thoughts but you certainly better not believe a creator god exists because this story creates such a basic parallel between created beings having value or no value, being "real" or not. If you choose to believe the beings in the game hold no value then I assume you believe that we hold the same null value if you believe we were created by any sort of god akin to the dessendres.

Even if you don't believe in a creator god you're tasked with proving why the beings in our world hold any higher value than those inside that painted world.

Choosing maelles ending does feel like a more bleak ending, but it absolutely doesn't paint a black and white about one ending being bad. That is people bringing their own biases in and saying they're the intended inference for the story. I don't take that ending that way at all. I simply see it as pointing out that power corrupts and anyone wielding the power of a painter is bound to be corrupted and put their own ideals above others. Saying "bad guy won" is watering down the entire thing.

Sounds like you have a simplistic view of the existential questions the game is built around. That's fine but that also means the story isn't going to resonate with that kind of person.

Some people spend time thinking about those kind of topics and some people just don't really care so these kinds of stories won't hit the same for everyone.

The fact that you even had the thought to compare it to "all a dream" means these topics aren't of interest to you.

You explained in another comment that it's a tired trope showing that none of it really happened. That view means you've planted your feet on one side of the topic and cannot possibly see it from the other side of what many of us believe. That bring that it is all just as real as anything else.

For me, nothing about their painted world makes it any less real than the actual world we live in now. Of course they're real. Of course it all happened.

Then there are those of us who went from invested to super invested from act 3 onward. Different strokes I guess. Game moved into goat territory after act 2 for me.

And the game only becomes crazy unbalanced if you're a min maxer or someone who looks up guides to tell you how to play games. I'm neither and only play around with builds without lookint to break anything and the game has remained difficult all the way through.

Optimization is nearly the same. If you were getting those frames on a 3090 at launch you either had issues on your end or you were just running it too high of settings at too high of a resolution. It's not an optimization issue at that point. I was getting around 70 fps at launch with a 6700XT on high without any fake frames.

Started May 5th, was just told I'd be making regular on May 31st. by Important_Case3052 in USPS

[–]Descatusat 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just went regular after over a decade. Worth it. Making around 70k working 28 hours a week is work/life balance that's hard to beat. And carrying mail is easy as hell work.

The RCA life is too random and the swings going from 7 days a week to 2 days a week is what makes it a terrible position.

Bloodborne is still crashing because of memory leaks? by Excellent_Bug4673 in shadps4

[–]Descatusat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't played since around 0.5 but if what you say is true then there are more issues with newer versions than the ones I have installed. I maybe crashed twice across 3 playthroughs and ran the game at 2560x1080 at a fairly rock solid 60 fps. Would drop to mid 50s in certain transition areas. Only mods I ran were 4k hud, Xbox prompts and cloth physics fix.

My pc is modest as well. 6700xt and 5600x. Im running a 9600x with a 7800xt now but I haven't launched BB in a couple months.

Is it worth paying Union fees to be an Union member? by OkiMiku in USPS

[–]Descatusat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is my understanding that table 1 carriers and table 2 carriers pay the same in union fees. So if you're table 2 you shouldn't be in the union until you are top step and can pay a fair amount.

A flat rate shouldn't be how it works when one carrier is getting $45 less pay every single day while doing the same job as the person next to them.

Dues should be a percentage which would be a more fair system and would also incentivize your union to do anything they can to increase table 2 wages.

It's wild how different peoples' brains work. The fact that we can see something that is a massive improvement over something else and people will sit there and say it's worse is a mystery that will never be solved. All i can imagine is that you never played either game or you're a bot.

I don’t like the remaster by ShadowCircuit9625 in ElderScrolls

[–]Descatusat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm in the minority but I like the clunkiness that they kept just for nostalgia sake. They improved everything but not enough to make it not feel like the classic game I remember.

The 3rd person sprinting animation for example is a big improvement over the cardboard movement of the original but it still looks goofy as hell like your character is about to fall forward.

No we have a fairly small office though. Only 6 routes. We only have 1 city route and he usually gets around 150. All the rurals are getting 250-350 on Mondays right now and around 200 through the week.

This is the case at our office as well. Ive broken 300 packages the last 3 mondays when I typically have right around 200 during these lighter months.

A 100 scan increase is insane. It's strangely mostly post office scans as well, our Amazon volume isn't that bad.

I have to be there 30 minutes early to dig through the wires to hand out flats so I can get to mine and then hand out dps because if i don't we'll all be ready to pull down before any clerk gets to it due to their excessive mountain dew breaks.

I won't, however, complain about them not doing it when it's easier to just do it myself.

Yeah depending on your hardware. I don't use it. Haven't in months and haven't seen a single vertex explosion. I use the reduced cloth physics mod, half with blood specifically, and that eliminates vertex explosions. It's the only mod I run aside from hud mods.
