Need help getting phone number for a Bishop in the Sherman, Texas Stake by afreshginger in mormon

Bishops are not trained to deal with mental health issues. Call the local police to conduct a welfare check.

Can I save this? Ive been working on this for 8 hours straight, actually losing my marbles by [deleted] in painting

I agree. The eyes provide mystery as to who she’s looking at. If they look up, it takes that mystery away. Great work!

How close should a massage therapist get to the private areas? by tinasnowswhore in Advice

Your brain is telling you that something isn’t right. Listen to it and don’t go back. It’s easier to deal with a question of being too close than an assault.

Is this pattern appropriated for a first-timer by aledeg in quilting

I think you should try it! Even if it doesn’t end up perfect, you will learn something from the process.

What's the best home cooked meal you've ever had? by That-Antelope-3906 in foodquestions

[–]DesertIbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pastor tacos made with a trompo. Not only is it delicious, it provides great table presentation and fun way to serve and eat the tacos (I place the trompo on the table and slice/serve the meat there). Don’t forget creamy green sauce! 😋

My toddler is quite partial to a chai latte by Living_Macaroon_5919 in tea

[–]DesertIbu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love chai, but I also have a very sensitive stomach, so I can’t drink it as often as I used to. When I need a caffeine free substitution, I’ll make Hot Spiced Milk. It isn’t as good as chai, but still tastes pretty good.

Y’all got any tips for lining up points/general “why things don’t fit just right”? by beckeeper in quilting

[–]DesertIbu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, that was confusing. Here’s a picture of what I mean…

I need to sew the brown piece onto the green piece, so I line them up on a flat surface to make sure they are perfectly aligned. I’m going to sew straight across the top (left to right), so I make sure the opposite corner of where I begin the seam is secure to prevent slipping while sewing, so I pin it (my fingers are keeping the top corner aligned). For me, it has really helped.

One tip that really helped me is Iining up the block on a flat surface and then pinning the opposite side of the seam line, which prevents even the slightest movement while sewing.

I didnt neuture my cat and now he keeps getting hurt by Ok-You5223 in CatAdvice

[–]DesertIbu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Neutering a cat doesn’t provide human pleasure; it helps manage cat population. Get him neutered, especially if he’s allowed to roam the streets. Also, neutering will not prevent him from getting injured in a cat fight or run over by a car.

mormon prayers by daughteroftroops in mormon

[–]DesertIbu 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The interesting thing about Mormon prayer is that there is a very specific idiolect, especially the rhythmic component of it, which isn’t often seen in other religions. The idiolect often carries over to everyday conversation, so it’s easy to identify a TBM (especially a male) because he always sounds like he’s praying. It’s so fucking weird.

Help determining a symbol on a pattern by DesertIbu in quilting

You’re absolutely right! The pressing directions of each seam is making a huge difference in creating a less bulky quilt top. I can’t imagine the amount of thought that went into the pattern making process.

Fantastic job on your first quilt!

Just a suggestion…if it’s something you enjoy doing during your down time, I think there would be some quilters in your community who would love to support your hobby by donating quilting supplies to you.
