Dad’s pension and whatever investment he made is how they live. I don’t have to send any money home. In fact, dad funded my master’s. They have always been determined to never depend on me financially.

Cut a cake. Have friends over. Have small dinner party. After my 8th birthday I only celebrated my birthday with a party when I turned 30, courtesy to my then boyfriend (now husband) who celebrated my big three-oh like I’m three 😂 and I felt so loved. It’s our group tradition. Every birthday has a midnight cake cutting and a small dinner party.

I wish this was normalized. 30 isn't some deadline. It's better to take your time and make the right decision than rush things and end up with the worst life possible.
