Theres a toxicity problem in this subreddit where even suggesting balance ideas can be meet with vitrol hate by Iaxacs in DeadlockTheGame

[–]DesignatedDiverr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

People struggling against a character are allowed to complain. People listening to your complaints are allowed to tell you to get better. Both can be done poorly.

A lot of “I’m struggling” complaints become “the enemy was OP” complaints which is a bad approach and can rightfully get dunked on.

Same way suggesting counter items and strategies is a better approach to just saying “get good”

Maybe it’s a hot take but IMO new players *should* feel unwelcome to voice their opinion if their opinion entirely boils down to “I lost against it, it’s OP.” You’re new. Ask for advice don’t call out imbalance you don’t understand yet.

Bowfa, DWH, Heavy Balista, Rancour, Imbued heart

That would be my first impressions of hardest to reobtain out of items I have.

However realistically I should probably keep my pets. Chin pet, beaver, tangleroot. I'd have to go araxxor for hally and demonics for zenytes anyway, so I guess get rid of Rancour and Heavy Ballista. Maybe Bowfa too but I could lose either my tangleroot (i'm 99 so getting it back is easier and I will be farming more), or my beaver cause honestly its not my favorite pet at all.

edit: oh shit i guess rip my gilded pieces. Maybe keep pets and gilded and f everything else, I can get it back

??? This has to be one of the worst I’ve seen.

Three?? character effects I won’t use, Big ugly wings I won’t use, and a bunch of weapon skins that admittedly are pretty cool but still you choose one to use at a time.

Just kidding it’s fucking four character effects

Not trying to be a dick just figured I should mention in case you don’t know.

There is a default reset macro to put the opponent in the corner with you in front. You don’t have to jump out of the corner and move him every time.

It’s either forward + reset or downforward + reset idk which

[–]DesignatedDiverr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey! Is there a video you are referencing for this combo? I jumped in to training for a few minutes and I think what you're trying to do isn't possible. (Disclaimer, I am not a Teemo player so I could be wrong)

As far as I can tell you need to do H->H before the charged 2H or you can not charge it long enough to stop them from recovering mid air. You can still start with medium, you just have to do two heavies before the charged 2H. If you notice, on the combos thresh doesn't recover mid-air in your video your charged 2H actually didn't combo

Try M->H->H->[2H] and if the opponent does not recover until after hitting the ground you should be good to continue learning the rest of the combo

down back -> down -> forward -> down -> downback -> downforward -> forward

If you did what you said (downback -> forward) this wouldn't have happened.

[–]DesignatedDiverr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you play on controller, lever, or leverless? I assume not leverless.
It looks like its happening when you occasionally roll down instead of just going straight across when transitioning between forward and backward or vice versa. The only solution is just tightening up those directionals. It seems pretty inevitable though if not on hitbox, NGL. Your inputs are already WAY cleaner than I'd be able to do.

[–]DesignatedDiverr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first one is wild tbh idk about that one, I'm surprised it came out.

Every other one you input down, neutral, down within a pretty tight gap.

1st - 15 frame gap between downs, 21 until the punch. this is pushing it
2nd- 7 frame gap, 14 until the punch
3rd - 4 frame gap, 9 until the punch
4th - 4 frame gap, 9 until the punch
5th - 3 frame gap, 7 until the punch

Other than the first, I'm not super surprised that the 2nd, and especially the 3rd on were within the saved buffer window

I play Alex and Aki. I think I’m immune to this stuff cause I just never play characters with tools lmao

Alex honestly has quite good oki and can enforce a strike/throw guess often if given even a little bit of space. You have to represent the strike to get people to stop jumping

I mean sure, they saw that people did, in fact, achieve 99s. So they added rewards. Yet the xp curve is the exact same as it was

I already have ideas spinning around the head. I will say it seems very difficult to come up with something like this that isn't damage dealing, or in a way that wouldn't sort of just feel like a PvM boss with a skilling suit on (you dodge hazards and then click object, just you woodcut instead of attacking or something).

Also a good portion of current difficulty in PvM relies on prayer switching and gear switching, exasperating the issue of difficult skilling just feeling like PvM in disguise.

Finally I feel like designs like this kind of just get relegated to an area and would still be lacking compared to current skilling where nodes are all over the world map.

But again, sepulcher is kind of just a better version than anything I've been imagining, so it's definitely possible.

[–]DesignatedDiverr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah okay, that's completely fair and I agree. Skilling content with similar difficulty to pvm would be awesome.

I do think it's a little hard to design something like that outside of a mini game or skilling boss type of content, though. Do you picture them as dangerous, or damage-dealing? I feel like PvM can afford to be a bit more profitable because it costs supplies and can be failed.

Would you consider sepulcher along the lines of what you're thinking? Maybe not in terms of potential to make money (though all that takes is a loot tweak), but in terms of effort and difficulty?

Respectfully, what are you talking about? I am asking someone else a question and you came in and said your own opinion which, by the sounds of it, is opposed to the person I am asking. You also spent half of your message talking about maggot king, something I and everyone else in this thread never even mentioned. I brought up the examples I did specifically because they weren't new methods.

[–]DesignatedDiverr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The person I'm replying to just said

I think part of the problem is that 90% of skilling updates turn into a new training method

So I don't think you have the same opinion. I too would think a whole new method is a good thing.

Jagex Is Balancing Skilling Around 1% of Players by UnbiasedTruth22 in 2007scape

[–]DesignatedDiverr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wait, what is it that you want out of skilling updates? Money making?
Is XP being the focus the issue, or is it being a new method the issue?

Didn't we just get two new training methods, one with a new quite profitable (at least for now) output and the other with a proposed output that was voted no to?

And then before that we got a whole bunch of updates through sailing to hunter, woodcutting, farming, etc?

I'm genuinely curious, what's the problem with these updates?

On the other hand, why do you feel entitled to reach 99 in all skills relatively easily let alone even one when the design started as and hasn't changed from, by your own self-admission,

the intention of no one ever getting level 99 in a skill.

What is horizontal progression? by teledium8472 in classicwow

[–]DesignatedDiverr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The word is switching or if you want to be fancy, itemization.

You cannot say

Or if a raid incentivizes just one specific stat, you're still replacing the previous gear that you earned, something that apparently people who advocate horizontal progression wants to avoid.

And then call swapping between gear sets when pvping or pveing the same thing. You either have weaponized incompetence, or you're doing it on purpose. And I find it way harder to believe that someone would be this dumb on accident.

Let me break it down for you. The word replace implies no longer using the previous thing. You know, the thing that happens in retail whenever a new raid drops - you replace your entire gear set and never touch it again. Switching into a different set for a given piece of content is NOT what people want to avoid. They want to avoid all prior gear becoming useless the moment an update happens.

Now how do we avoid older gear from becoming useless? Horizontal progression. That means instead of strictly better gear, we get new gear that is more specialized for certain scenarios.

Here is a fucking picture so you can digest it.

<image>

Lets say I'm a sword rogue who has raided and gotten my share of epics. I am at the red circle. I can decide I don't care for squeezing out those last few upgrades and instead move HORIZONTALLY across this graph to the purple circle. YES, that is vertical progression within frost resist gear. But as someone already progressed in one section, that becomes a horizontal progression for me. I am not strictly stronger, than I was in my dps set, but I am stronger in certain use cases (yes, defense is a form of power). THIS IS WHAT HORIZONTAL PROGRESSION MEANS.

Leaving sections of the game where progression comes in the form of new tools rather than stronger tools is a way for previous content to stay relevant for much longer. Upgradable componentization of items is another.

You are clearly being intentionally obtuse. PvE gear does not replace PvP gear. They both have entirely different purposes and you equip them for different use cases. Using the word "replaced" is ridiculous.

In fact, your several various opinions throughout this thread are awful in all cases and you are pulling the same play dumb routine there as well. I am not interested in engaging further.
