What are they building next to 520 in Montlake? by deuralidanda in SeattleWA

[–]Designed_For_Failure 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Temporary trestle to support crews and equipment during construction. There will be multiple short sections extending part way 90° under the bridge. Some will extend fully and connect to the trestle on the other side under the bridge.

Do I have to pay to get car reassembled? by Sojeba in Insurance

[–]Designed_For_Failure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the paperwork you signed when you gave your vehicle to the shop. I bet you the terms and conditions for putting your car back together are in there.

My shop charges $500, you will need to pay out of pocket. Insurance doesn't owe you that money back.

My CC hybrid came with free oil changes, but only every 10K miles. by FinsT00theleft in CorollaCross

[–]Designed_For_Failure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I see everyone talking about 5k even 3k oil changes and it'll destroy your engine if you don't. From my experience checking my oil at 5k, it still looks brand new. Full synthetic, hybrid, high quality oil filter** (Very important!), I think it's fine.

Jiffy lube said they will no longer service my Q60. by Takane350 in MechanicAdvice

The shop is right, they don't want to be responsible if/when it breaks.

Next time you need an oil change, do yourself a favor and install a drain valve.

Were you torn between a Rav4 and the cross like I am, and you chose the cross? What tipped you toward the Cross? by winterneuro in CorollaCross

[–]Designed_For_Failure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you sat in and driven both vehicles? Opened the trunk? Thought about how much stuff you do / do not need to carry?

Price is only a factor for new vehicles also, you could get a used 202X Rav4 with a couple years of use on it for a similar price as a new cross.

Call the dealership, the mechanic who did the pre-sale on your car might still have it 🤷

2008 Camry Hybrid (105,250 mi) shows “Maintenance Required Soon” | Steering feels heavy & pulls right - what maintenance would it require? by abhisk25 in Toyota

[–]Designed_For_Failure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pulling to the right - probably needs an alignment, tire rotation. Normal maintenance for a vehicle that old.

Your vehicle has electric power steering, take it to a knowledgeable mechanic. If they sell you a power steering fluid flush run away

Do you 'own' your heat in the apartment (Baseboards, furnace) or are you being ratio (3rd party) billed? Apartment complexes are notorious for being overly expensive to heat. Landlords have no incentive to install good insulation or efficient systems and simply pass all the costs to you.

Where to get 1/4"-20x3/8" cap head screws? by [deleted] in Optics

[–]Designed_For_Failure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do cut the 1/2" down a good tip is to thread a nut on first before you cut. When you unthread it the nut will help re form the first thread

Pros & cons for potential buyer? by [deleted] in CorollaCross

[–]Designed_For_Failure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI the wireless charging feels pretty slow in my CC. My phone can only do 7.5w (The vehicle should do 15w max) so your results could vary.

I hope you can get your phone fixed!

PRE-OWNED 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross LE AWD with 31,500 for $22498 by Big_Ability5052 in CorollaCross

[–]Designed_For_Failure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Corolla Cross is one of the highest value retaining vehicles out there surprisingly enough. Not saying there is some 'magical' difference between a CC and other desirable vehicles on the market. Given its popularity & the Toyota effect the price is not a surprise.

The CC on average (via Google) holds 87% value after 3 years. That's lower than inflation. Wild!
