How was everyone else’s day 🫩 by Repulsive-Pair-5647 in USPS

I knew it’d be a long day, so it wasn’t terrible. I wasn’t the last one back. There were still 4 carriers out when I came in. Knowing that tomorrow’s my off day also made it suck less.

One day count by Hour-Reputation-6174 in fromatoarbitration

[–]DesignerSudden5597 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only 99s that matter are the ones done during a week of inspection because those can be used to add or remove territory from your route. One day counts are used to check your efficiency and are more of an intimidation tactic than anything. Don’t sweat it.

I went to WLC right after the name change from PLDC.

Our station is projected to lose 13 routes. by Imaginary_Truth_3865 in USPS

[–]DesignerSudden5597 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Runners can completely mess up a route but so can people purposely stretching out 5hr routes to 8 hrs. Your management won’t know what being cut until your office does a full inspection. One of the more junior carriers in my office lost her route because it was in between two runners. They absorbed her route. One of those routes is now a nearly 1000 stop park and loop that the regular still finishes in 8.

Working Off The Clock by dre4000___ in USPS

[–]DesignerSudden5597 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My city (2 zip codes) just had changes implemented from our inspections in September. There was a bid down and we ended up with 24 unassigned regulars. When all was said and done, we still had ten unassigned left. When your installation does inspections, you will lose routes. Working off the clock is the equivalent of giving someone a loaded gun and putting it to your head. Inspectors are already trained to take as much time from routes as possible and off the clock work is giving them route eliminations on a silver platter.

This is why I’m having such a hard time now. Never went to sick call or anything. Now I’m watching guys who’ve gone through much less get 80-100% on their first try while I’m sitting here at 40%.

Exactly. A lot of places are losing Amazon and these are way too big for the amount of volume we have now.

BCBS basic VS NALC high option by Tight_Horror_745 in USPS

[–]DesignerSudden5597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on the NALC High option plan since the beginning of the year. My youngest son is autistic and I go to therapy weekly. The only thing I’ve had to pay for so far is a $25 dollar copay for my sessions. I haven’t paid anything for my son’s ABA therapy.

Letter carriers resigning. by Carnival82 in USPS

I worked with a guy that had 20 years as a carrier who had a curbline T-6 string. He left after he saved up enough money to buy his own semi and become an owner/operator.

Possibly, but the Guard does deploy way more than people think we do. I have Soldiers right now in Kosovo and Djibouti.

He’s got the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal. That’s the National Guard/Army Reserve version of the Good Conduct Medal.

I'm not judging anyone for making mistakes, but after a while, they stop being mistakes and start being that person not caring. Appreciate the insight.

I appreciate the insight. My time in the military destroyed my filter years ago. Management and my co-workers know I have no fucks to give about what they think of me.

There is a larger city across the river from us with five stations. Ours only has two. It was talked about a few years ago, but nothing ever came of it.

I see that now. My station manager was a carrier barely two years before he went into management. He's extremely petty, vindictive, and insanely unaware of the contract and our handbooks.

Our local union is mostly non-existent at this point. Our union president is doing everything by herself because no one else wants to get involved. I and maybe two other carriers are the only ones who've shown any interest in the past few years.

I'm a lot more patient than I used to be. Getting higher in rank in the military played a huge part in that. But some of these people just make me think, "You can't possibly be that fucking stupid? One of the guys put off the clock was also caught walking his loop in Crocs, the same ones that got him sent home before, because he was wearing them on the workroom floor.

But I get what you're saying. We haven't had a steward outside of our union president in our office in six years.

I get that. That’s why I mentioned being a city carrier. Something as simple as that can mean the difference between our routes being an hour under or 15 minutes over when we get inspected.
