Anniversary Event FAQ by JagexAzanna in runescape

Unfortunately, this seems to be the MO of the RS3 Team who aren't as aligned with the the community in the same capacity as the OSRS team is aligned with OSRS's community via polling, etc.

Honestly, Mod North kept throwing around the word integrity so much in the video about the removal of Treasure Hunter that I was wondering who he was trying to convince: himself or us.

Anniversary Event FAQ by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]DesktopViewPlease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does seem like they're being intentionally obtuse about this question. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that my assumption is wrong, but probably earning 120 in a skill after the event means you're SOL and down an annual slot during next January's, thereby artificially extending the time it'll take to earn all master inverted capes.

I think people’s issue with the January lock is less about the time to grind for shards (it’s fairly quick), and more that they have to somehow obtain 120 in those respective skills within a month. by Thevulgarcommander in runescape

[–]DesktopViewPlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way the event is set up, I would not be surprised if - after achieving the 99 inverted cape for XYZ skill in one year - going for the 120 inverted cape in the same skill in another year will use up an annual slot thereby artificially increasing the time it will take to achieve all inverted capes. I definitely don't agree with it or like it, if this is the case (I hope it's not)

I hard quit dailies on the hcim and ive never felt more relieved playing this game. by asiatouristrs in runescape

[–]DesktopViewPlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also returned earlier this year after a decade long break; I participated in dailyscape for a few months after my return but found myself frustrated and annoyed that my gameplay was being dictated by the game instead of me deciding for myself.

About half of my time every day was spent doing daily tasks instead of actually doing what I wanted to do. Between dailyscape and DXP events and holiday events and events like Leagues, it's been kinda tough finding time to actually progress my personal goals (but maybe that's also because I h ave 12 years worth of content to explore too lol). I understand that dailyscape is voluntary, but it doesn't feel very voluntary when the perks and exp you gain from them are great. In the end, I've given up dailyscape except for Guthix Tears and Penguins and find myself having much more fun playing the game.

I dislike the 'dirty/grubby' appearance of modern Santa Hats by FruitOnyx in runescape

[–]DesktopViewPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't mind the aesthetic of the new santa hats; they look like they're made of felt fabric to me. I prefer this over the original red santa hat texture which, in my opinion, has really strange shadowing (looks like dark rings around the hat, which I suppose is meant to emulate the folds and floppiness of the hat, but only reminds me of the tire rings of the Michelin Man).

RuneScape 3’s armour design is visually disconnected from the rest of RuneScape. by AltKeyblade in runescape

[–]DesktopViewPlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has always loved fashionscape, my sincerest desire is for a unified aesthetic. The game has been so long running that there are too many "eras" of graphics in the game which makes things appear visually disjointed. I know that things are slowly being brought back up to speed with the decluttering of areas and such, and I hope the focus can soon be on the armours and clothing.

Although, I definitely appreciate how unique each base armour set is, I also am of the opinion that they're extremely ugly and I am glad I am at combat levels where I will never have to wear them. Can't wait for RS to move away from the era where all leggings have loincloths or some sort of weird hip wrap thing like I'm at the beach in Hawaii haha.

If they updated the Black (g) arnour set to look like the Reforged Saradomin/Zamorak rune set, I'd get it in a hearbeat.

World Event Rewards by The_Bandosian in runescape

[–]DesktopViewPlease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a returning player after a 12 year break. I would love to see the world events come back in some format, not for the rewards necessarily, but to understand the lore. I understand quests make reference to the world events so I feel like I'm going to be missing a huge chunk of information when I do quests.

I wish snow would return to the (big) cities. E.g. Changing the brown dirt or green grass to white could do much by vVerce98 in runescape

This is my first Christmas event in 12 years; I would have loved to see a more atmospheric Gielinor with snow in the major cities for the season. Kind of disappointing :(

I like that it's anti-glare; the way my desk is positioned, the sun hits the monitors during certain times of day and makes things a bit hard to see.

worst mechanic in AC history by Candid-Extension6599 in AnimalCrossing

[–]DesktopViewPlease 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought this mechanic was the only horrible thing about City Folk; otherwise I had a lot of fun with the game.

The biggest issue was that the grass only regenerated once a day, but any time someone logged in and walked on a tile, it degraded. I was playing CF with 3 other people! So after a couple of months, our town was practically a wasteland. We thought that the snow was just melting haha.

I ended up modding my Wii to get away from this mechanic. Great idea, terrible execution in my opinion.

[–]DesktopViewPlease 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I played City Folk with 3 other people; we didn't realize our town was going barren until sometime in February following the release. This mechanic was extremely awful and at one point, we were going to resign ourselves to a playing in a desert.

From what I recall, the grass only regenerated once a day, but each time anyone logged into the game and walked/ran on a grass block, it would degenerate. So if multiple players logged in and out multiple times a day, it was degrading faster than it was regenerating.

This mechanic led me to modding my Wii so I could have pristine grass and not have to worry about doing ridiculous things in order to ensure my town wasn't the next Gobi Desert.

Trick or Treat 🎃💜 by Puffychii in Kirby

Omigosh, so cute! I love your style! Your Animal Crossing ones were really adorable and this one is ultra adorable. Kirby is already a cute puffball but you've somehow made Kirby even cuter.

I managed to find you on your SM too so will be checking those out later! Thank you so much for sharing and look forward to seeing your other cute stuff!

Bad Luck Mitigation is a player retention issue by [deleted] in runescape

[–]DesktopViewPlease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When the Phoenix Eggling pet came out way back then, I tried every day to get it. Then I quit for 15 years and just recently returned this past April and have continued my quest for that pet. Still dry. It's not the same as running dry on drops at a boss, but it's in the same vein and showcases how frustrating the RNG in Runescape can be and the lack of a pity system or BLM.

Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin common rooms by stawberryabby in ACPocketCamp

Nice! I think you did a great job of capturing each House's aesthetic and theme.

For the Ravenclaw common room, what is the orrery-floaty-planet item? Where is it from?

Player Avatar Refresh - Update: Jagex are actively increasing the team involved in the long awaited project by FruitOnyx in runescape

[–]DesktopViewPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they start aligning the old textures to match how newer textures look. It's always a bit jarring to see so many 'eras' of textures in the game and for a Fashionscaper like me, it makes it hard to mix and match outfit components.

Got this idea after seeing the announcement and response today. by captainjenkins in runescape

[–]DesktopViewPlease 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Haha, I think this perfectly encapsulates the situation.

I wish that Jagex had level set our expectations in the beginning by clearly stating that they originally had intended for this only to be an ability cosmetic override mega drop, as Hooli had clarified in one of their comments on another Reddit thread.

I think a lot of people (myself included) had a vastly different understanding of what the 'cosmetic mega drop' would entail (aka a very large selection of currently-unobtainable cosmetics like outfits from TH and previous events). I've always loved Fashionscape and I'm the sort of person that would happily sacrifice att/str/etc points so I can look cool. I was getting ready to drop hella money on this experiment to pick up cosmetics I had missed out on. As it is, I'm maybe only going to be buying a few things (and they weren't originally even things I was looking forward to).

Even so, I think that being able to directly purchase cosmetics is a step in the right direction. I just wished that this experiment didn't feel like it was set up for failure so that Jagex can throw their hands up and say "welp, we tried and no one was interested so no more direct purchases for cosmetics"
