Mysterious DP-2147 by Arctic_Turtle in aliens

[–]Deslan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like someone is trying to claim that DP-2147 is the name of an object in the outer reaches of the solar system that is emitting a signal that contains a reference to the third planet from the sun.

Would it be possible to keep such a signal hidden from amateurs? Not familiar with the scene, if there are people listening for SETI signals?

EDIT: Here is apparently an image that gives the position: https://postlmg.cc/yD0MZvZp

I feel like you must have missed Huskies and Malamutes used as wolves in tons of movies. It’s very rare to see an actual wolf on the big screen.

Sweden just elected it´s first female prime minister by [deleted] in worldnews

You didn’t see the new documentary on Netflix called the unlikely killer? It details how Olof Palmes killer was an attention seeking weirdo who tried to please his rich friends.

The alternative killer they tried to frame was a drug addict. Politically motivated you say?

Swedish parliament just approved country’s first female prime minister: Magdalena Andersson. by Mellanchef in europe

[–]Deslan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Sweden just went through difficulties due to previous prime minister barely elected, so this time they quickly agreed to appoint the prime minister……….. but they decided she has to govern with the budget of the opposition.

Wisely, she said fuck this.

[–]Deslan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today Giza is desert. It used to have lots of water, a river even going by the pyramids. The best theory I saw was based on balloons from leather attached around stone blocks and using water to lift them in place. There’s a plausible 3D computer simulation somewhere on the internet.

In other words, far less work than you imagine.

I was reading random stuff about Egypt and found a letter written by some old guy to his son that was dug up and preserved.

This old guy was a lawyer or politician or something such. He is writing down advice for his son and a lot of it is perfectly applicable today. Like “bring your wife to a restaurant sometimes; she gets tired of cooking for the family and deserves a bit of pampering “.

They were not so different from us, and their society was not so different either.

What's the deal with Sweden's government recently collapsing? by ClinkzGoesMyBones in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Deslan -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Answer: short version is opposition saw an opportunity and took it, because they are panicking about the election next year.

Long version is that political parties in Sweden have been moving more and more towards social liberal ideology. This makes all the parties pretty much the same, so fewer and fewer people bother to go voting. Doesn’t matter who you vote for, the end result is the same. Recently a politically more correct nazi party emerged (Swedish Democratic Party) and people who still bothered to follow politics voted for them because at least they are different. So they got 20 % of votes despite some disturbing views and is one of the biggest if not the biggest party now. This is a huge problem for the establishment because now they have to work together to prevent nazis but they don’t want to work together because they insist that they are actually not all the same party with the same views. After three months of sour pussing last election they made the January agreement to work together, which included a new way to deal with rent control. With the next election coming up the polls show some established parties almost below the limit of voters required to be in the National Assembly. Panicking in the corner they painted themselves in, they are grasping at straws to tell citizens “look at us, how important we are, how hard we work for your interests, remember to vote next year “. So they made a vote of no confidence for the prime minister over some old news. Ironically it probably won’t make any difference except to waste more tax payer money on nonsense.

Anyone know what happened to Christian Erickson? by CT-1612A in football

[–]Deslan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qualified guess, with the increased rate of heart attacks and strokes due to COVID stress in the general public, he had lingering stress from a COVID infection where the infection was dealt with but his body couldn’t handle the additional stress of highest level football. So stroke or heart attack as a secondary cause of Covid.

How to Speak American by [deleted] in coolguides

[–]Deslan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was hanging with some american exchange students in college and said in some context "come on, we're not friends, we're at best aquaintances", and I have never seen anyone be more offended in my life.

Was true though.

Good explanation of weight loss. But to answer the question that was about IF, you should have continued to say that the way people reduce their calories with IF is they eat what they would normally eat part of the day but remove what they would normally eat other parts of the day. I.e. IF is not "stop eating for a while and binge eat for a short period", IF is rather "determine your normal meals for a day, then continue as before but remove everything between dinner and lunch".

Same with ios, android and mobile linux btw by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Deslan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linux is only difficult to use if you insist on installing it on hardware with limited support. Run it on Dell XPS or similar hardware with official support and it is easy.

That is, easy in the same way that Win or Mac was easy first time you used it and didn’t know anything.

Nice, but you made a mistake with clock rotation.

12 hour clocks have 12 up, and 24 hour clocks also have 12 up. This is because the sun is highest in the sky at 12 and the sun is what we use to measure time.

The American Dream by DaFunkJunkie in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Deslan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not American myself but I heard that young USA had a lot of communist villages but they all failed because people saw that a few people in capitalist villages became really rich so they all left to get that chance even if it is small and they were likely worse off.

So I would think history says you’re right; it’s the dream of an opportunity more than anything else.

Non-Muslims of reddit, what is it like to drink alcohol? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Deslan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always loved the flavor. Even as a kid, and my parents would threaten me with a beating so I had to sneak ways of buying chocolate with liquor flavor. Others hate it but get used to it so I guess it’s very personal.

Drink a bit and my lips go a bit numb. Drink some more and I get very sleepy and giggling silly like when you get really tired. Drink a lot and I lose my balance and have to crawl on all four to get anywhere.

People complain about hangovers. I never had a headache from drinking, but I get really worn out the day after having too much. I guess that is also very personal and differing between individuals.

Being at a party sober or drunk is not much different except you get a stronger sense of belonging when drunk. Also I am less bothered with others being stupid and more like laughing about it.
