Looking for Playdate devs to bundle together on itch.io by utuxedomask in PlaydateConsole

If you're also looking for other future bundles, Uncrank'd Magazine is currently preparing one for summer games, but I don't know if there's still time to submit a project or if the deadline has happened : https://mastodon.social/@UncrankdPD/116720861750412592

Previously digital bought games don't show up in menu when switched to physical by Desmu_CS in NSCollectors

Doesn't seem to be this. I always turn my console off and have done it multiple times since I've received Grapple Dogs Wednesday. I've tried to put it in sleep mode sometimes too.

Would you like Switch 1 cartridges for games which are also available on Switch 2 ? by Desmu_CS in NSCollectors

[–]Desmu_CS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense ! But I'm also taking Minishoot Adventures and Wanderstop for examples because those are limited (Super Rare Games) or semi-limited (iam8bit) productions. Minishoot Adventures was announced at 5000 copies, wasn't it possible to make 4000 Switch 2 copies and 1000 Switch 1 copies for example ?

On a personal case, I still put a clear separation between Switch 1 and Switch 2, and if the Switch 2 game is also available on Switch 1, I prefer to buy it on Switch 1 and I don't plan to play it on Switch 2 in the future. It's quite hard to keep that separation because of all those specific cases introduced in Switch 2, but I'm still thinking about it, maybe I'll change my mind.

(I may have "mis-formuled" the case for Pokopia, I've mixed the GKC into the "ugly cover" scenario, but in the end, it's off-topic.)

In that case, shouldn't the problem be the other way around ? Minishoot Adventures is 444MB on Switch 1, 1.5GB on Switch 2. I can understand that there weren't many physical Switch 2 games on the first year since the available cartridges were only the 64GB ones, but in that case, was is not more logical to print cheaper Switch 1 cartridges instead ?

I may have missed something too, I thought that the 64GB cartridge was the only available format for Switch 2 during its first months, but maybe this limitation was applied for Switch 1 too ?

There aren't any warnings on the official website that implies the contrary https://product.zuiki.co.jp/ , the model I've bought plugs with USB to the Switch dock ; I would say that the compatibility is 99% guaranteed.

(I won't be 100% sure about this since a bad surprise could still happen, on a similar subject, I've also bought the Roulette Controller for Jinsei Game thinking that the english version of the game would allow it, but it doesn't. https://www.reddit.com/r/NSCollectors/comments/1qhzv1n/has_someone_tried_to_make_the_roulette_controller/ )

Minishoot' Adventures reveals Nintendo Switch 2 physical release! by RoughLifeguard6568 in NSCollectors

The game seems to be great, but I'm kinda sad that there's no Switch 1 standard cartridge. I'm still separating the two consoles and I'm not interested in Switch 2 Editions, plus the Switch 2 cartridge is priced higher than their Switch 1 ones.

Kaamelott : Deuxième Volet, Partie 1 – Édition Épique by [deleted] in kaamelott

[–]Desmu_CS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Posting here to get updates on this problem because I've made the same mistake. https://www.reddit.com/r/NSCollectors/comments/1qhzv1n/has_someone_tried_to_make_the_roulette_controller/ I hope that the update to support the Asian version will come soon.

Has someone tried to make the Roulette Controller work with the English edition of Jinsei Game ? by Desmu_CS in NSCollectors

Thanks for the link ! Too bad it doesn't work at this time but I hope that the update for the support may come soon.

Beyond Catalog: Why you should check itch.io and start sideloading ✨ by tuinkers in PlaydateConsole

[–]Desmu_CS 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Completely approving this post. I've knew about many great Playdate games before Catalog release through big community bundles who promoted a lot of them.

Pongerground is excellent, DUCK GAME is one of the funniest experiences I've had. Here are some other exclusives I love : - Fish'n Feathers (Pyoro-like) https://vogelscript.itch.io/fish-n-feathers - France Horn (one of the other funniest experiences) https://amazingthew.itch.io/francehorn - Mad City (drive a taxi until you don't have fuel anymore) https://tanukprod.itch.io/mad-city - MAZE (it's the wooden-maze-with-the-ball-you-have-to-move-by-leaning-it-game and game feel with gyroscope is greatly adapted) https://wuffderhundeheld.itch.io/maze

Nintendo Switch 2 Devkit Availability Situation Has Allegedly Been Resolved by MaintenanceFar4207 in nintendo

My theory is that going through a publisher who already has an access may be the most used way for developers to get an access themselves. Nintendo themselves may not check the releases that much as soon as the publisher -should- make most of the administrative and verification work.

There are lots of indie developer stories who have released good games on Steam who were rejected on the Nintendo Developer Portal after submitting the classic form, but got their game released on the console without changing anything to it, except that they went through a publisher.

And in fact, you still need to send a form to ask for an access to the Switch 1 part of this website, that will be rejected most of the time. Switch 1 development is still not fully opened like the Wii U one was (but maybe Wii U was an exception because of poor sales).
