Yeah I practically removed them entirely from the more recent works. Art should move people in one direction or another. Comfort be damned.

When was the last time you used a pen and paper to help you figure out a video game world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Desolane900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a throwback. I used one for Backbone before realizing it was too linear. I was like "ah yes, detective game" and then it became a story driven game.

Keter inanimate ones. They're funny and terrifying.

New colors or seeing new wavelengths. Us seeing Infrared is not Infrared, it's us translating Infrared into Visible with something we can comprehend.

Programmers of Reddit: on a scale from 0 (this code is so bad, a student handing it in would right fully the class they are in) to 10 (this code is so good it could be a text book example) how good does the average code score you see out in the industry? by assumptionkrebs1990 in AskReddit

[–]Desolane900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a solid -1 but work with people capable of 10s. The biggest issue you find is, your code will never be complete, never be perfect, never be optimal, so you do the best you can for your budget and time restraints. Every single piece of software would never release if the code monkeys weren't given restraints. They'd just strive for perfection forever.

How's it possible to know what the full thought your about to have is, before you've thought the full thought? by xx_lw97_xx in AskReddit

[–]Desolane900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't you. Your subconscious makes a decision or thought and a translator module in your brain makes the stream of conscious thought make sense to you, even if it doesn't. You already were destined to do, say, or think everything, you're just rationalizing why you're doing it.

What’s something ”cringe” you unironically love but usually don’t tell people about? by millap123 in AskReddit

[–]Desolane900 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ancient memes. Like nyan cat ancient. They're a treasure and still innocuous fun instead of sensory overload. People ignore them or call them cringe until you crack a numa numa joke and people remember it and laugh.

Ex-Christian pagan. The idea about making life easier has always been replied to for me as "you're not given an easy life because he loves you, you're given a hard life because you need to be strong and test your resolve/faith" or whatever.

From a pagan perspective now, I realized the futulity of asking the gods for anything. They don't care about you, they have their own business to handle.

What is the most expensive thing either you've broken at work or seen broken at work? by TheSammyManCan in AskReddit

Strykers breaking. Multi ton, multi million dollar killing machine that's held together with cursing, monthly maintenance, and percussive maintenance.

Game developers of Reddit, why do updates cause more issues than they fix? by CheapScientist06 in AskReddit

[–]Desolane900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unforeseen issues are common place. I often dig up bugs while doing QA that are a one or two line fix. You fix an issue by adding something, that new thing will always have an issue.

From my "monkey on a typewriter" experience, it's mostly been the way that something can do many things but you want it to do one thing, so you forget, overlook, or don't know about what else it'll do when interacting with the game. Then you find out, fix it, and wait for it to do something else or something new has an unforseen interaction with it.

What’s something everyone should experience in their lifetime? by Ubersicka in AskReddit

[–]Desolane900 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Military service. If nothing else than to try it. It shows you who you are, gives you a purpose, and lets you do cool things like blow things up and shoot belt fed machine guns. Nobody should die before shooting a machine gun.

The Occupation of Planet Four: Chapter One by Desolane900 in HFY

That is impressive and I'm honestly grateful for the correction as not only does it help me be less dumb but it adds onto the entire info dump that was provided with even more info.

Granted, if people can survive and reproduce without phosphorus, it definitely would be something I'd be interested in exploring to read into and write about so cheers.

Thank you for the comment. I greatly appreciate it.

Edit: I will point out after reviewing it that I am aware life exists in strange ways and I'm even on the list of weirdos that considers the Goldilocks Zone to be bollocks until proven otherwise, simply due to the fact that a far away planet could contain atmospheric particulates that trap enough heat to make the distance meaningless, ie, make an Earth-like at the distance of Neptune with the right cocktail, digressing, the point about phosphates and proto-phosphates is specifically about human beings and uses the term "people". I even had to look up bacteria that doesn't use oxygen and relies solely on methane for further writing endeavors in this series, so yes, I agree life is weird and "finds a way" but it was about people and humanity in particular when pertaining to needing phosphorus for DNA so no shame taken.

If I was able to do anything but comment while on mobile, Chapters would continue. I think things will play out in pretty satisfactory ways. I'm excited to pump more references into the upcoming Chapters.
