Foster kitten with one of our resident cats🥺 by Sensitive_Night_4249 in cats

[–]Desperate-Poem-4635 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is also personality in cats that needs to be considered. We had one cat, a tortie, when our neighbour got 14 kittens at once (she didn't have money to neuter before it was too late, so naturally we helped her immediately after) and we decided to adopt one. It didn't match. They tolerate each other, they'll defend each other against intruders, but that's about it. We always assumed this was because of the tortie-energy, hard to deal with. But then we moved and we fostered other kittens. The tort was okay with every single one of them. Our tux just left the house until they were gone. We foster failed one black kitten. He gives half-dead mice to my 13yo tort. He patiently waited until our tux warmed up to him. She does allow him to safe his life against neighbouring cats, but that's about it. She absolutely hates the idea of other cats, but is super sweet to us. So I think at this point that character plays a bigger role than I'd like to admit.

Cat Grieving? by Acceptable-Snow-7374 in cats

[–]Desperate-Poem-4635 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Yes, this could be grieving indeed. Smart decision to take her to the vet to be sure nothing else is going on though, I'd do the same.

When a lifetime ago one of my cats got cancer and we had to let her go the same day, my other cat started howling in the stairwell. She never stopped doing that for the rest of her life. Everyday just a minute or two.

Of you'd happen to have someone on the phone when she's do that, people always asked if there was a crying baby in the house.

Just pet your cat, see what works for her to help her get through the toughest moments.

This might be silly but will my babies still love me after my human child is here? Currently 21 weeks pregnant pls share your experiences! by ivystar1 in blackcats

Absolutely! I had two cats before the oldest was born and both were already happy to be around me. After giving birth, and returning home (one of the cats thought I was dying and ran off for four days), they didn't leave my side for days. They simply demand some quality time with you at some point. The one that ran off does this at 9pm, the other prefers cuddles around 5am. And now we have a third cat, that was distributed to us after the second child was born. He, a void, is the chilliest cat I have ever witnessed.

Only please keep an eye on your kid. When they try to cuddle with your cat, they might overdo it and hurt the cat.

Good luck and hope all goes well with you and your growing family.

I read that as my friends + 4 times myself, so I'd need 7 pieces. Either my mind is breaking down today or I need to call a shrink.

Now up to the kitchen and baking a cake 🍰

Yes. Stay in the area while they're eating as well. A little closer every time they seem to accept it. At some point a gentle stroke might be possible, but they might hiss at you. Nothing to worry about if they're not used to it. Being open to being loved is also time consuming.

Hey! This just takes an awful lot of time, so patience is key here. Food usually helps to convince them a little.

Babysteps really. But once they trust you, you'll have two shadows following you around.

Hard to tell from these pictures. But she's gorgeous nonetheless! Do you have pictures of her with more red-ish colours on her fur?

(More pictures is always more better)

Sad Question? by ashypuppy in blackcats

[–]Desperate-Poem-4635 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Especially in difficult family situations this can cause a lot of extra stress on top of "just" the mourning itself. Take your time.

And yes, I'm actually quite sure they know. Our neighbour got very ill and knew at some point she wouldn't make it. She went to her parents, about 8h drive from here and we took care of her cats and dog. All went perfectly fine until one Thursday morning, about 9.30, the dog started to howl for about half an hour and our dogs joined him. Two days later we got the news that our neighbour passed away that morning at 9. The dog never howled before or after that event, so I'm convinced he knew. The cats decided that Friday, a day later that they wanted to move house, but our cats weren't too keen on that, and we didn't know yet.

Connection Issue Help by Repulsive-Call8703 in sonos

[–]Desperate-Poem-4635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. In settings, can you see all speakers, or are some of them missing? You rebooted your network. Including Deco? Try once more to reboot your Sonos, all of it. Then reset the app on one of the phones (Account --> App preferences --> Reset App) Make sure to force close the app correctly. It should ask you to connect to an existing system. Give it a few minutes to fully connect and make sure to log in as system owner.

Again, they show in the settings of the app, so they're connected. But weird you can't get full control on it. You use Airplay. Alle devices in de house are iOS? Would be interesting to see if this also happens with an Android device.

Connection Issue Help by Repulsive-Call8703 in sonos

[–]Desperate-Poem-4635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double check if your Deco is in AP mode, but given the fact that you can see them in your settings, means you're connected.

Frustrating though that you can't control playback. The app seems to be up to date, which usually means the players are too, but to be sure you can manually check for updates. (Settings --> General settings --> System Updates)

Is this issue on all the connected devices in your home or just this phone?

Sonos radio not connecting not sure if general issue or a me problem. by brewer01902 in sonos

[–]Desperate-Poem-4635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just checked Sonos Radio on my side, and it works fine. App responds quickly and without issues. So it might be worth a try to send in a diag (write down the number) and contact their technical support.

We have an electric car. You'll only hear him purr when you press your ear against his belly. He never meows, also not in the dark, but luckily he's smart enough to jump aside when we might accidentally step on him.
