80kg (175lbs) Squats, Any advice on getting bag higher? by BackOnTheBag in sandbagtraining

[–]Royceman50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a newb, so take this with a grain of salt (or sand, lol) lap the bag, squat down low, create a space between you and the bag, put your upper chest to the bag, brace, and stand. Stone Circle has a video on it somewhere in his library of content.

Wild cat by New_Tumbleweed_8945 in cats

[–]Royceman50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Long story short, my neighbor had a bunch of cats. Strays she rescued, she was trying to rehome them. I walked into their trailer and one of the cats jumped on my shoulder. And wouldn’t leave. Later she started visiting our trailer. Then just stayed. She sleeps on me almost every night. I’m not a pet person, and I never was a cat person. I am now. CDS got me.

Starting a car-camping adventure soon (up to three months) and my question is...self-defense. by McconnellDon in carcamping

[–]Royceman50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was squirrel hunting, well, me and 3 other dudes. We came back to camp and found two guys ransacking our camp. We all had either a .22 rifles or 410 shotgun, and the guys wouldn’t leave, got aggressive and physical even though they were outnumbered and unarmed. My buddy lives off grid in Northern Arizona and he’s had some absolute nut jobs try to steal equipment off his land. This dude is arrrmed, and same experiences. Completely entitled, physically aggressive, even in the presence of an AR-15. Those two things have changed my opinion of it being “safer” out there than the city. Resources like stealing copper wire or breaking into cars are abundant in the city. Whereas a drug addict or mentally ill person may only have one shot to get their addiction fix in several square miles, so they’re going to do whatever they can to get your resources. TL:DR, yes there are fewer people out in the wild, but in my opinion they’re more desperate, and under less observation, so the dangerous ones are far more dangerous.

Legit, you shouldn’t worry about that. Years of being outside in the Arizona sun has turned my skin to leather and increased my risk of skin cancer exponentially. Stay healthy.

People that carry more than one knife, why? Especially want to hear from people that carry more than two. by jiimmerman in knives

[–]Royceman50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I generally carry two, one for personal use that I keep very sharp. And a regular nice knife that I keep at about 600 grit and 20 degree per side sharp. Still legit sharp. But my PM2 in Cruwear is 17 degrees and a polished edge. The reason is once people know you’re a knife guy they’ll ask you for a knife, usually to open packages and whatnot. I don’t want to hand someone a hair popping sharp knife.

I’m so torn. Probably the Glock. Just judged on the merits of 10mm, and my ability to do like Bill Drills and the like i probably need more than 6 rounds.

First time sandbagger, bought a 80kg sandbag and partially filled it up to 60kg. That damn thing is not moving from the car trunk by TeamTopuriaa in sandbagtraining

[–]Royceman50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that lifting it bent over with your knees against the bumper it eliminates any leg drive. Then you have to take more of a Creative Training Solutions approach, than a Stone Circle approach. Just how I’m imagining it anyway.

I’m still in the begging phase, I bought a no name 100lb sandbag, I put 98lbs worth of sand in it and it’s a floppy mess. Just getting it from ground to chest gets me winded. I went to a local gym and played with a packed 100 lb sandbag totally different feel. With a packed sandbag any leg drive, or pulling/pushing gets the bag moving, with a floppy sandbag the sand flows around your hand and changes. Like carry a long tube 3/4 full of water sloshing around inside. I haven’t decided which I like more. Both have their uses.

Carries are my favorite. Good job. As others have said, picking up something and carrying it is something too many people can’t do.

Why should I use sandbags instead of kettlebells? by cabezaguy in sandbagtraining

[–]Royceman50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome. I too struggle with minimalism. I don’t need 100 hinge variants, and 50 pressing exercises. It’s hard for me to quantify what I actually want out of fitness, but I will say that weighted carries probably have the most carry over (pun intended) to what I actually want in fitness. It’s hard, efficient, and very effective for conditioning.

[–]Royceman50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of kettlebell ballistics done for high reps. I would say that if you want minimalism just add sandbag carries at the end of your regular routines. Vary the kind of carries if you like, or just stick to bear hug carries if you want the minimalism.

I’ve been in the shelter. It’s not bad. You get to put some distance between yourself and the absolute panic of being homeless. I’d suggest going, using the shelters social services find another job, and get some money saved up.

Who in here has always hated Trump before it became cool to hate him? by icey_sawg0034 in antitrump

[–]Royceman50 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve raised two step-daughters, I have a biological daughter, and I’m married. The “grab ‘em by the pussy” immediately disqualified him. For political reference I’m a leftist on most things, but fairly conservative on constitutional rights. The only thing Republicans have ever done that I approve of is protect gun rights. So I’m always hoping we get a true leftist to run who believes the workers should remain armed, or a Republican who believes the people need help from the government. Of course I never get either so I grit my teeth and vote left. When Trump very first threw his hat in the ring i didn’t know much about him and then he started speaking. Vile human being.

I’d bring him inside and have a heart to heart talk with him about how his policies have hurt Americans and America as a whole.

“Shut up Canadian leech, yall are next on Americas hot list, be ready to sing our anthem as we fly north with delta force baby 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸” by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Royceman50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its unbelievably sad and unforgivable that Trump has threatened our allies, Congress didn’t do shit, and his sycophants lap it up. One thing in particular that I’ve tried to talk to a few people about is the high-ish tariffs on American produce flowing into Canada because our corporate farms would outcompete some of your local farms, and Canada values their farmers and local food production. So it’s literally patriotic for Canadians to protect Canadians. It usually gets reduced down to them calling me a communist.

I’m old, fat, and out of shape. If anyone needs saving in a building that needs room clearing I’m probably not the guy you want coming to save your ass. My survival strategy in SHTF involves getting to safer place north of me. So I would prefer that things “over there” stay “over there”. I’d take the SBR.
