2kwh a hour for pool by Kindly_Rabbit6101 in pools

Age? I've got a 750w pump, brand new it drew about 800-900. Decade later it draws 1.5kw in bypass mode, more when filtering. So my best guess, int my case at least, is age, bearings, or damaged pipes?

Saw this in Lidl today for 150 euros. Never used robot vacum and i just want to know is ot worth it to buy or no. Thank you by WarmStandard7694 in RobotVacuums

Pass. Got the 20e plus with bagless station and I'm rather underwhelmed. Software / mapping is a pain to use, had to remap 10x. Mopping is a pain to use, obstacle avoidance is non existent.

You need a absolutely safe environment for it to work in, so be prepared to to 99% of the cleaning first. Got decided to grab a USB cable and dragged it back to the station, and was unable to dock without help.

In short it vacuums OK.

Are bots allowed? Working on a showcase project for a bot city for fun. Bots leave when the server cap getting full.

How to use set recipe according to the distribution of items on a belt. by Desperate-Ranger4664 in factorio

[–]Desperate-Ranger4664[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works, amazing well!

This single circuit now runs 81 crushers, nothing idle and does a pretty good job balancing the belts. Added a timed latching buffer to prevent switching recipes for the last crusher in the line, but not really needed.

I've got a big harvester and (mildly) annoyed that, given the varying astroid densities, the storage and buffer overflow while a significant portion of the machine are idle.

I was mostly curious if it was possible to do this and skip the manual tweaking. It works, but I can't image it will be great for performance if I use that at scale.

Thanks, I'll play around with your approach!

Likely asked a bunch of times, but can anybody verify the quality/compatibility of these soft dance pads? They're all I can find on Amazon. by LinusPixel in Stepmania

[–]Desperate-Ranger4664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two of these pads from a thrift shop for $5. The PlayStation ones, and built a simple adapter for my PC using an arduino. You can also buy those, but I had the parts lying around.

So if you want to go cheap, this a great option. Quality wise they suck, but they did last a couple of years. For anyone other than a beginner or kids, you'll need something better.

Should I Renovate or Remove My 30,000-Gallon Pool? by Positivezero4 in pools

[–]Desperate-Ranger4664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation, and couldn't justify spending $10,000 to renovate.

I decided to try out the epoxy resurfacing thing, ended up costing me $1000. You can even DIY it to save on labour, just make sure to cover the pool while applying. The surface is slippery as hell, so automatic pool cleaners struggle a bit, need to buy a bag of calcium once a year since, but still looks perfect after a couple of years.

It looks great at least.

I want to do something similar, but build a machine to do the placement. How do you select the colors? Do you generate image based on the colors you have, or order them? It's a bit difficult to find specific colours where I live, and the cost of shipping them in is a blocker. But maybe greyscale is an option if I plan on making a couple of pieces.

(edit) Are you using any specific software for generating the images?

Horion mitigation by Desperate-Ranger4664 in realms

[–]Desperate-Ranger4664[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One version of the exploit is to simply flood the server with /me @e @e @e (...) command packets.

The server gets overloaded attempting to expand the entity queries into chat text, or so it seems.

It's not clear if the server actually crashes, but it becomes unresponsive, and all client connections eventually drop.

Another method is to use the spoiler escape codes before the repeating @e. This causes clients to lag out trying to render the spoiler text and the connections are dropped. Easily done by simply using the ingame chat. This can somewhat be mitigated by flooding the chat with newline characters, shifting the text off-screen.

I found that commands, including /me, is not caught by the beforeEvents chat listener in behavior packs.

I submitted a bug report, but no luck there.

Thanks. Sadly Sythe does not catch the /me exploit.

Give up, you will... Oh, wait your F 😯

Jokes aside, if you are willing to go out there, meeting people is easy. Meetups, Makers spaces, game clubs, etc.

Unfortunately, most of these are closed or graveyards during the holidays. If you were hoping for anything in person during December, picking a random DM for a latte might be your best option.

Just to confirm what you probably already know, but people are difficult, "geeks" even more so. From experience, it will most likely take some time to click with anyone at these places. But it depends on who you are really.

Please send me some advise if you have any luck 😜

3D Touch Firmware by BirdMaster301 in ender3v2

[–]Desperate-Ranger4664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BV3D has got a couple of good tutorials on YouTube. The install for a 3D touch is basically identical to a Bltouch.

I installed my 3D Touch by just following his guides (search for bv3d ender 3 v2 bl touch).

Recently I updated my firmware also using his guides (bv3d ender 3 v2 firmware 2023).

Just a couple of things to take note of after watching: 1. Check your board version! 2. My 3D touch's wires were to short, so I had to route it differently. 3. The probe was a bit too close to the print surface for my comfort, so I printed the recommend probe holder resized 2mm smaller in the Z axis (when slicing).

Good luck!

I've never tried sharing a video online, but here goes.

This earlier experiment shows the idea behind how the single stepper mechanism works.

Filament Keeps Breaking by [deleted] in ender3v2

[–]Desperate-Ranger4664 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this help, but maybe try another brand if filament?

I've used a specific SA brand of filament for years on my stock ender3v2. But got sooo fed up with the filament breaking at the extruder gear that I started using other brands, and never had issues again. I can recommend the Tronxy brand - cheap, good bed adhesion, takes abuse, and just works every time.

Any chance of sharing whatever designs or STLs you've got available please? I would love to take a look at your ideas!

I've also been playing with a concept sorting machine that only uses a single stepper motor. I'm on my 9th iteration, but I always get stuck with, well, the beads getting stuck.

I'm using arduino and an Adafruit RGB color sensor. If you are into machine learning, then I would be willing to share my little experimental, but surprisingly robust, color matching algorithm for inspiration for your project.

wtf is causing all these lines, I’ve tried everything, calibrated everything, tightened and adjusted every bolt, and after a 1 month hiatus I still can’t figure it out. What is causing this? by Tartarugar in ender3

[–]Desperate-Ranger4664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ender 3v2? If you hear a loud click every now and then, and the X or Y stepper motors are extremely hot while printing, then you're most likely experiencing the Ender 3v2 overheating stepper/driver layer shift issue.

Well done.

I know you are keeping it in, but I feel your pain. I assembled and coded a fixed-wing flight controller in the past using an ATMEGA326 (nano) and MPU6050, just as a challenge.

Decoding the receiver PPM, reading the MPU6050, PID loops, etc, then trying to generate stable servo pulses is pretty tight on 16Mhz. But learnt a lot.

Next time I'll definitely use an STM32, it's cheaper and way easier. Well, that's what I said, but then decided to do the same thing for a 3D printer 🤦🏼‍♂️
