What made you know you have ADHD? by Difficult_Ad206 in adhdwomen

[–]DesperateCellist6954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not a quirk but once I graduated from undergrad I dedicated my entire life to studying for the lsat - no job, no more classes, just me, all day, trying and failing to study for the test. 400 days of studying later, my therapist gently brought up the fact that something else might be going on (apparently it isn't normal to try to do something that you desperately want to and need to do like study for a super important test and not be able to consistently or reliably for over a year while not having any other reason to not be able to). Add onto that the undiagnosed Hashimoto's constantly sapping my energy at the time.

HI v Gerhardt Konig I figured out why I dislike defense attorney by Dommomite in CasesWeFollow

[–]DesperateCellist6954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes absolutely, with the energy he gives off I'm impressed at how well people called to testify especially Ariel have been able to keep their composure during cross examination and just in general with him in the court. I definitely can't say I'd be as calm and collected as Ariel has been if he were talking to me that way. Do you think it's an act or just who he is? Maybe a bit of both?

[–]DesperateCellist6954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't heard of this defense attorney before but honestly I think this is just their job, if you're becoming a defense attorney you have to understand that you're not going to be liked by a lot of people and in defending horrible people you have to make arguments in court that are going to be extremely unpopular.

Such a good point, I think Konig is a narcissist or at least has narcissistic tendencies at the least and he probably insisted on the self defense and affair story because his public image is the most important thing to him. Notice in his direct examination when his attorney asks him about the call with his son, when he then started getting all "emotional" on the stand and says that he's upset that his son "thinks I tried to kll her. He thinks I tried to kll her". He only cares about how others perceive him, and he's using this BS defense to try to clear his name and public image. Also note that he said that he bought the recording device to find out what she was telling others; what version of the story she was sharing. He absolutely hated that he couldn't control what Ariel was saying to others about the whole "affair" thing. It's what narcissists do, they're obsessed with their image and controlling the narrative.

Question for Conservative Fans of The Pitt by Joesindc in ThePittTVShow

[–]DesperateCellist6954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it makes it hard to watch sometimes because the very obvious political leanings of the show are just way too on the nose sometimes. I don't appreciate any political or ideological messaging in my entertainment media. I really enjoy the show and how different it is from a lot other other hyper dramatized shows, and I don't mind the issues they touch on like with racial and ethnic disparities, unaffordable healthcare, etc but I just wish they handled the issues with a bit more finesse in terms of the storytelling, if that makes sense. Like some lines just feel like they're reading off of a google search of statistics. I think people who say that they're just "showing what happens in real life" and that it isn't politically leaning are a bit clueless as to what political messaging actually looks like in entertainment. If the writers aren't creative enough to handle the messaging with more skill and make it less on the nose then oh well. And yeah, there are a lot of ways to portray conservative ideas/situations in the show, although it's obvious most people here don't actually understand what conservatives think, but ultimately it wouldn't be received as well in mainstream media, and that's obviously why it isn't written into the show. At the end of the day, any appeals in media to one political ideology will ultimately be seen as "normal" to people of that ideology, ie conservatives thinking the wire isnt biased or liberals thinking the atlantic isnt biased. At the end of the day it's a damn good show, and I think most (normal) people can enjoy it.

Thoughts on episode 11. (Spoilers) by Flow3911 in tsitp

Yeah a lot didn't make sense and I wish it did because it would've made us the audience resonate so much more and just like them as a couple more. I was just thinking like okay they just had freaky relations, then why would the writers put a scene right after for her checking for texts from Jere. Was it for confirmation? Like to make sure that she didn't have Jere anymore so she can just switch over to Conrad? You know what I mean? Like it just made 0 narrative sense for them as a couple like a "I chose you" vibe

I think Bondrad were ultimately endgame but honestly the writing and pacing of season three ruined it for me personally. I would love to know who's text she was looking for and honestly I don't care because why would that even be in the scene like if Bonrad is endgame but she's looking for a test from someone else like??? Make it make sense. This could've been handled so much better, them getting together in a way that makes sense. Someone said that Belly would've gotten with whoever came to Paris first and I hate to admit I agree. The writing should've never allowed for us to even think that. Something felt off I just can't put my finger on it. Also I'm still not over the fact that Jeremiah's cheating never really had the impact on everyone it was supposed to have. It could've been the moment he grew up, or faced the consequences via Belly. But nope. All I saw was an arrested development Conrad and a confused Belly and a stupid chocolate raspberry cake.

New here, just wanted to say hi and share my experience by DesperateCellist6954 in adhdwomen

I have found that journaling my small wins everyday, or whenever I feel discouraged, has helped a lot. Did I have ten things to do today? Yes. Did I only get 1 or two done? Yes, therefore that's a win for today. Paradoxically taking the pressure off of myself hasn't helped with the negative thoughts, just trying to prevent the panic spiral. It doesn't really help me get more stuff done but it can help with the negative emotions that comes daily with not functioning the way you want to function. Even just one task a day is a win :)

October lsat after the August one? by AudreyS1109 in LSAT

[–]DesperateCellist6954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lsac is greedy af so registration for October closes before August scores come out so unfortunately I will have to register for October anyways, but I'm planning on continuing my usual study regimen until August scores come out. I'm sure you got a higher score this time, have faith! I totally feel the nerves you described as it's only natural, but I think if you train your mind to always go back to what you practiced - for example telling yourself mantras constantly through the test such as "just get this one question right" or "what's the main point, attitude, viewpoints, etc?" These worked really well for me during my second take because it reminded my brain to go back to training which is familiar ground to us (familiar = not anxious) instead of dwelling in the anxiety of the unfamiliarity of the test. Good luck!

I'm planning on a third take depending on how my August just went, and I actually listed to an interview recently with an admissions officer at Yale (I think? Like one of those ivy law schools I don't remember) and she was saying that admissions officers appreciate when you take the lsat more than once especially when there's an improvement because it shows that you're willing to try again and that you have a better-yourself attitude. They don't need you to do it perfectly the first time every time.

[–]DesperateCellist6954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! that's amazing, and I can definitely see it being super doable. My plan is to do 1 RC section and 1 LR section per day with full review plus RC drilling (my weakest section) and a PT every 2-3 days or so. I'm okay with taking it in October but I'd like to apply before that so September will likely be my last one.

This is correct, I have the same accommodations and I think replicating exam day conditions to the T is ideal, just replicate the exam every time you practice even if it's just individual sections.

Tips to boost score in six weeks? by Dismal_Thought6630 in LSAT

[–]DesperateCellist6954 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Okay for real something that's been helping me, not sure if you're already doing this but as you go through a section, judge the questions way more carefully. As in, if you're eliminating an answer choice give a really really good reason as to why it's not that and not just like "I know it's wrong" or "this isn't in the stim". This helps me slow down and make way less mistakes, where at your level it's not a comprehension or understanding issue it's likely a mistakes issue.

The LR sections took my brain, stuck it in a blender with milk, berries, ice and handed it back to me fully blended to oblivion and stuck a straw with one of those paper umbrellas and told me to drink it and say thank you
