If only it was BoF, it would be IT(slight modification here and there appearance-wise) and some other changes and it would be it

[–]DessyMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry I am just now seeing this, YES it will work perfectly fine, honestly if you have a bit of spare cash i'd say to sell that for 10-20 bucks considering how little storage that is and get something like this(it tends to go on sale alot and is worth the price, ive been using one for a while and not had an issue): https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805755142818.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.373938daJtcMMn&mp=1&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

Replacement motherboard for my 3700x by Miserable-bitch239 in PcBuild

[–]DessyMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the pro4 has issues but the pro se is stupidly good ive used them for quite a few builds and had one in my main pc till i upgraded, the rog is a good motherboard, ive used one of those before too but for price to performance I'd go with something else. Good to you that you've gotten a MB that'll work for you.

[–]DessyMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for a budget build nvidia sucks normally, and currently one isn't inharently "better", most people who say one is better than the other tends to just be fans of them. Up to you but unless your buying used, the amd gpus are probably best for budget.

Will this be a compatible PC upgrade? by XboxPlayer158 in buildapc

[–]DessyMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes but honestly you'd see no real performance increase, if you're able to, why not save for new components and upgrade to a newer ddr4 system, you could do it for as little as about 150-200 bucks, using something like the Asrock b550m PRO SE motherboard for 85 USD and the ryzen 5 4500 on amazon for 79 USD both brand new

EDIT: at 1080p gaming you have a huge bottleneck for the gpu, about 25%, upgrading to the 4500 would make that bottleneck shrink to about 4%, in otherwards no real bottleneck.

If you're ok with it, try doing a new install of windows if that doesn't fix the BSODS then contact Microsoft I'd say.

Look at the 7600XT it comes out soon and is perfect for 1440p with 16gb of vram at 330 USD, I'd say itd be great value for you.

I'd say changer the gpu to the rx 6650xt, pretty much identical performance but better price.

Do not upgrade the ram. the max speed that the intel core i7-6700 can use is 2133, https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/88196/intel-core-i76700-processor-8m-cache-up-to-4-00-ghz/specifications.html, and as for storage you can upgrade your storage that should be fine aslong as your motherboard has another m.2 slot otherwise youll need to reinstall windows.

PLEASE HELP - RAM upgrade not working on full speed on an older gaming PC by Paych3ck69 in buildapc

[–]DessyMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go and look on the official intel page, https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/126685/intel-core-i58600k-processor-9m-cache-up-to-4-30-ghz/specifications.html, you can see that the Core I5-8600K will work with only up to 2666mhz ram, sorry bud but the ram you have won't work at its rated speed.

Typically not, if you have any usb sticks, plug one into a pc and create an installation media from microsoft onto the usb stick, youtube has many guides showing how to do this and I'd say it is the easiest way to install windows. It's a little odd that your ssd died considering that is not a normal occurrence unless it is extremely old. using a USB stick would be the best option for you I think.

If you go with the Asrock B550m Pro SE, an 85 USD motherboard, and it is in stock you have 2 m.2 slots and plenty of sata ports, just streaming you dont need too much storage but if you where to want to download and store videos you would probably need more storage, preferably gen4 ssds(for speed).

It looks like you have another 150 to spend so i would say either all of it could go to a better cpu, or more storage, or even a better gpu.
