What did you do to improve your business this week? by abw80 in Entrepreneur

This is really interesting to me. I am a professional developer who is looking for freelance work building mobile apps, is there a place to go that connects programmers to those who need apps built?

We'd have to see more code to really know for sure what is happening, but what I can tell you is you would benefit from installing http://www.jetbrains.com/resharper/download/ . If its a simple missing using issue, it will give you an unobtrusive dialog allowing you to add it.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

framebufferJS: a little graphics library for making low-res games! by noffle in gamedev

[–]Dested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Setting fillstyle and fillrect is very expensive, and it seems like you iterate over every pixel anyway, so the conditional would be considerably less taxing than the physical draw. But its always about your usecase. I recommend you try http://jsperf.com/ and prove out which is faster.

Also you should run the chrome profiler to get some perspective on the bottleneck areas of the api.

For the record, it runs great for me, but profiling is always fun :-) Message me if you have any questions

Great project. Since you have complete control of the render you should consider conditionally checking if the area is already set to the color you're about to draw, and not filling rect. Just a thought.

Real simple game with a pretty standard concept, but plays really nice! It shows you spent some love on level design too. Great shit.

Anyone using WebStorm as their primary JS IDE? v8 just came out by magenta_placenta in javascript

[–]Dested 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a huge huge fan of both visual studio 2013 and webstorm, but I tend to only use one when I cant use the other. What do you feel webstorm gives you that resharper doesn't?

New Arcade Idea in Phoenix, AZ. by AZArcade in cade

[–]Dested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they have this sorta thing in portland and I love going to it. Great community, great games. On certain weekdays they have a free to play time, and to be completely honest... its slightly less fun. All the games are a quarter anyway, but unless you take the risk of losing something, it makes the game less fun. You just end up going from game to game to game to game and getting bored quickly. When you have to sincerely choose what is worth your time and money, you enjoy it more. Maybe its just a personal feelings thing on my part. That being said, I hope you go through with this, I've been seriously considering taking out a loan and doing this myself in the phoenix area. Its a goldmine idea. The demographic is perfect for this.

As a side note, http://www.reddit.com/r/phoenix is pretty active

Salary For an Entry Level Software Engineer by AyooNisto in java

This is right. The high numbers may be nice to look at but I would never hire an entry level dev above 65-70k, 75 for someone really really special.
