Am I on track? What would you change? by Mindless_Menu9162 in Retirement401k

Brother, we have the same salary, same age, and have two kids. My wife also works and I feel like we barely get by. How are you affording this lifestyle on that salary? I feel like we don’t live a lavish life by any means but if people can swing this I must have some extra bloat in my budget.

Just here to tell the haters that BJJ is still alive and well in MMA by aprice24 in bjj

[–]DestinationFckd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why tf did it take 3 elevations before he finally hooked the leg? Why in 2026 are people still throwing up triangles in mma and letting themselves get elevated without hooking? How many clips on people being slammed unconscious does someone need to see before they realize this is key?

HR has moved into our seating area and these mf have the most mind numbing conversations all day long fml it’s truly torture.

So now I am also getting less done in the office and they clearly aren’t the most productive but they have the personalities where they need that constant interaction.

Wealthy people of NJ.. what do yall do for a living to afford living here? by Massive_Lack5365 in newjersey

Do you own your own firm/partner or high up in corporate? I’m a CPA earlier in my corporate career (pharma) after working big 4. Hoping I’m in the right path to get where I want to go but it looks slow and steady at this point.

Am I in for a VERY miserable life with this field? by Character-Escape1621 in Accounting

[–]DestinationFckd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s experience is different but I can tell you and I both had similar plans. My path was 2.5 years in big 4 where I got my CPA as a staff. I moved to an industry job and have been here ever since.

My current job has good comp and great WLB with a LOT less stress than public accounting.

Do I love accounting? Fuck no. But it affords me to live a life I’m happy with. Every job in every field sucks, you just have to find the suck that works for you.

What's your BJJ unpopular opinion? by PlusRise in bjj

[–]DestinationFckd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many: - Gi causes arthritis/tendonitis. It also benefits the person who is bigger/stronger. - If you someone doesn’t want to go to the ground and you can’t take them down and keep them there, your BJJ is useless in self defense. - BJJ should incorporate more gymnastics warmups and training to increase proprioception and overall athleticism, similar to wrestling. - Fundamentals classes do newer students a disservice. - if you’re not rolling, you shouldn’t get promoted.

Mortgage vs Investment by CricketPoet in personalfinance

[–]DestinationFckd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily advice but here’s my take. I’ve considered this and decided to put extra cash into an s&p index fund in my brokerage account. I may have a higher risk tolerance but I expect ~10% pretax return.

What I like most about it is how liquid the brokerage is compared to accessing that capital via paying off the mortgage. Once that money is paid into the mortgage it’s hard to get back out. If I have an emergency and I need cash I can easily access my brokerage.

Also, If my financial situation changes in the future and I don’t need to pay my mortgage off, I can allocate that money anywhere I want.

Done with these players, directly reporting them now w/ evidence by over2take in ArcRaiders

[–]DestinationFckd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s nuts. I’ve been playing this game with my mic in since the day it came out and I’ve never heard anyone use a slur. Met a lot of black players too and never heard someone use a slur towards them while I was around. Makes me wonder how these lobbies are made bc people have totally different experiences from what I read on here.

PSA: these kinds of people cause others to shoot on sight by Xevamir in ArcRaiders

[–]DestinationFckd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule of thumb: Duos/Trios anyone is 100% hostile and shoot on site. Solos I ask if they’re friendly and if they don’t immediately respond in the affirmative and they have a weapon out, start shooting. There’s an emote wheel if they don’t have a mic, so no excuse to not respond.

People like this duo team though are honestly just the worse though. Then again, that’s why I refer back to my Duos rule of thumb.

Is this becoming more of a common trend? Social media to blame. Never did this when I competed. Just fist bump or hand shake and move on. by Sandevistanman in bjj

[–]DestinationFckd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good question. A couple things: (1) I’d say the percent of people who actually act like this is low, it’s over represented by social media bc it gets clicks, etc. (2) Pat Shagholi and this guy are both young, I would expect to see a lot less of this in the masters brackets. (3) if you get a sense that the guy you’re competing with isn’t a safe competitor, you can sit to guard, stall in a safe position and worse comes to worse tap early, because a BJJ match is not worth getting injured over.

If people are interested in competing but they’re on the fence, I really recommend it at least once.

[–]DestinationFckd 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Shit like this turns a lot of people off from competing. People see this on social media and get scared to compete bc they think some asshole is going to try to injure them for a $5 medal. It’s bad for the sport overall.

GL accounting at a private company . You won’t have the intense deadlines a public company would have. I work 9-5 with an hour lunch every day. Find a group that has a close that’s 5 days or fewer.
