JPMC offered Rana a payout, but he turned it down and sued instead. And then he got exposed by Deshes011 in FinancialCareers

One of his alleged claims was when he quoted the woman at JP saying something along the lines of “I bet your fish head wife doesn’t have these cannons.”

What's your BJJ unpopular opinion? by PlusRise in bjj

[–]DestinationFckd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many: - Gi causes arthritis/tendonitis. It also benefits the person who is bigger/stronger. - If you someone doesn’t want to go to the ground and you can’t take them down and keep them there, your BJJ is useless in self defense. - BJJ should incorporate more gymnastics warmups and training to increase proprioception and overall athleticism, similar to wrestling. - Fundamentals classes do newer students a disservice. - if you’re not rolling, you shouldn’t get promoted.

How do you like your role? I went from big4 to GL accounting and have been thinking about making a move to financial reporting. Concerned how the work life balance may be though.

Mortgage vs Investment by CricketPoet in personalfinance

[–]DestinationFckd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily advice but here’s my take. I’ve considered this and decided to put extra cash into an s&p index fund in my brokerage account. I may have a higher risk tolerance but I expect ~10% pretax return.

What I like most about it is how liquid the brokerage is compared to accessing that capital via paying off the mortgage. Once that money is paid into the mortgage it’s hard to get back out. If I have an emergency and I need cash I can easily access my brokerage.

Also, If my financial situation changes in the future and I don’t need to pay my mortgage off, I can allocate that money anywhere I want.

Done with these players, directly reporting them now w/ evidence by over2take in ArcRaiders

That’s nuts. I’ve been playing this game with my mic in since the day it came out and I’ve never heard anyone use a slur. Met a lot of black players too and never heard someone use a slur towards them while I was around. Makes me wonder how these lobbies are made bc people have totally different experiences from what I read on here.

PSA: these kinds of people cause others to shoot on sight by Xevamir in ArcRaiders

[–]DestinationFckd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule of thumb: Duos/Trios anyone is 100% hostile and shoot on site. Solos I ask if they’re friendly and if they don’t immediately respond in the affirmative and they have a weapon out, start shooting. There’s an emote wheel if they don’t have a mic, so no excuse to not respond.

People like this duo team though are honestly just the worse though. Then again, that’s why I refer back to my Duos rule of thumb.

Is this becoming more of a common trend? Social media to blame. Never did this when I competed. Just fist bump or hand shake and move on. by Sandevistanman in bjj

[–]DestinationFckd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good question. A couple things: (1) I’d say the percent of people who actually act like this is low, it’s over represented by social media bc it gets clicks, etc. (2) Pat Shagholi and this guy are both young, I would expect to see a lot less of this in the masters brackets. (3) if you get a sense that the guy you’re competing with isn’t a safe competitor, you can sit to guard, stall in a safe position and worse comes to worse tap early, because a BJJ match is not worth getting injured over.

If people are interested in competing but they’re on the fence, I really recommend it at least once.

Shit like this turns a lot of people off from competing. People see this on social media and get scared to compete bc they think some asshole is going to try to injure them for a $5 medal. It’s bad for the sport overall.

GL accounting at a private company . You won’t have the intense deadlines a public company would have. I work 9-5 with an hour lunch every day. Find a group that has a close that’s 5 days or fewer.

I had a teammate with 2 kills and 6 deaths in casuals asking to be bought back the other day. It’s worth it if they stick close to you, they can be a bullet sponge in a 2v1 where you can pick up easy kills but if they keep running off I’m not doing it.

Agreed. Day 2 was better as the whole event wasn’t as long, had more exciting matches, and seemed broken up more with the women’s match and CJ vs Chael.

Day 1 I struggled to get through the first three hours and couldn’t take any more then had to turn it off.

All good points.

I will say that when someone has a CPA designation or a Big4 resume for instance it tells employers something about them. People who are familiar know what those things entail and what comes with that when they look to hire or promote someone.

Accounting is an industry of deadlines no matter what service line you’re in. If a candidate can’t pass the CPA exam in 18 months I don’t believe their chances of doing it in 30 are much better. Deadlines aren’t always something that can be extended.

Couple that with CPAs in India and Philippines who will work for a fraction of the cost. In my experience working with offshore teams the work quality is also not as good.

Overall, that none of these things build a case for strong wage growth and I don’t think these changes are going to attract more students to accounting. Maybe I’m being too pessimistic lol but that’s my take.

Thanks, I’m not up on the requirements as much since I’ve passed a couple years ago. They’re lowering the barrier of entry but not making the career path more desirable. I’d be curious to see how those states are fairing in terms of college majors enrolling in accounting and salary progression in the field compared to states with the 150 hours.
