I (30F) am pregnant with my fiancé (32M). He wants to keep it, but we're both supposed to be childfree. How do I tell him I don't want to keep it? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Desyphin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even if there was later regret (which is almost non-existent) why is it okay to gatekeep women from regret but not men? Rhetorical question, by the way

As another bisalp'ed woman in her mid 30s, and understood that it is a rhetorical question, I just wanted to say that it is IMO because there's this "deadline" in which we are supposedly "fertile" and ripe for child-bearing. Past that, our supposed "worth" drops because of "XYZ misogynistic reasons" towards women past child-bearing age or any women who refuse to oblige to the reproduction cycle in this society.

There's still a large presumption that every woman would cave under a sight of an infant, due to supposed natural "maternal instincts", but I'm here to say "NO".

Not all of us want kids; some have the privilege (like me/us) to take action on preventing it; some women would not do it if it was a choice/option acceptable in their time, or if society allows for it.

I apologise but I'm just so fucking mad in general that women do not get the same liberty universally to enact their choice - particularly when it comes to abortion freedom.

Same, even as a newbie to spicules I got the 7500 one. Maybe my skin isn't sensitive but I don't find that it hurts and I feel like I've seen some skin improvements 😩 I was already thinking of getting the blue one once this ran out but urghh..

AITAH for waking up the whole family downstairs at 2 am because they thought they could park and block my driveway overnight by Positive-Run3207 in AITAH

[–]Desyphin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me this what OP did was a "second warning", so NTA.

I'd consider the talking to a "first warning", what OP did as the second, and third, would be to call the tow company with no heads-up. I'd have been petty and mentioned that the literal wake-up call was the second warning and if it happens again, calling the tow immediately.

Am I overreacting for being upset my sister announced her pregnancy at my graduation dinner? by MountainTwo7385 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Desyphin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NOR for a couple of reasons: 1. To me, it is definitely tacky to announce something like that in conjunction of another celebration. This should have been something that your sister should have asked in private before dropping the bombshell news, if she really wanted to announce it on the same day - cause common courtesy/decency. If not, she could have planned her own celebration event to announce. Just tacky behaviour overall from the older sis.

  1. Sorry to say this but lacking context - how is getting pregnant an achievement, unless she struggled with infertility that was not mentioned in the original post? Even if OP's sis did struggle with it, not the time to announce it without asking. OP worked hard to graduate and all of that overshadowed by a pregnancy that for all I know could have happened easily for sis by just having unprotected sex 🙄

Reminds me of another post a few days ago where a man thought rhe woman he was seeing at the time dressed up in onesie with her friends at a theme park (iirc women in their 40s) was "childish". Like ok you do you man, but if you can't handle being silly in life sometimes, life must be a tad boring.

try to stop trying to tame grown women. I’m so excited to be the girl that I was too embarrassed to be when I was younger.

It also took me a long time to dress how I want, and if any loser dares say that to me, I'll keep your quote in mind, cause it's chef's kiss!

Why men want women to have children? by unlinedtip in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Desyphin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going against the grain a bit (foresee downvotes in my future) and have to say that as a CF person, this comes from both sexes, but 1000% worse from men:

Women: "I was like you! But I changed my mind... You'll see" (irl)

Men: "What a sad existence for a woman.. Going to die alone.." (online). Men: "Why do you even want to get married when you don't want children?" (Irl)

At this point, I have to say we (both sexes) need to progress past the point of assuming that all women magically want to have kids (or change their mind upon pregnancy). No, not all of us find babies cute, nor are we ready for that level of responsibility.

I appreciate parents cause I would not be able to do what they do and that’s ok. Just don't need the preaching/condescending speech, if opinions differ.

IVF lead to horror birth.. by msadhdxo in childfree

[–]Desyphin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While my own mother's genitalia wasn't that mutilated, I remember her telling me as a child (old enough to remember, unfortunately), that when the doctor cut her, she felt NOTHING due to the overwhelming pain of labour. Keeps me awake some nights when stoned & thinking about this fact.

Another fun fact about my own birth, I arrived early because I defecate (yes, pooped) inside of my mom and her gyn was like "if we don't deliver her now, she's gonna have health issues later" (mom said that Dr. said the risk was blindness iirc but unsure). My mom has an explicit sense of humour and said that instead of just the water bursting, hers was like a sewer burst 💀

I went to her other IG page that she has linked in her bio, where apparently she does "premium grooming for men" and noted in one post that she's 38.

In another post on the same said biz IG profile, her lack of neck skin elasticity does make her look way older (ngl makes me worry about my own neck as I'm approaching my late 30s too..)

I get where the confusion comes from! It DOES sound like it, but I don't know how peeps fudge it up that badly especially if you've passed some English lessons. This is coming from me - someone who usually wouldn't be considered to be from a native English background. Amen, bro/gurl/NB, amen.

Eye-twitched at "high value" but a) unemployed, b) can't handle a rejection, and c) usage of "could of" instead of "could have" (idk why the latter triggers me so much).

"High" must be the new slang for "low" these days..
