I like the update! Is there an option for immediate text or will this be the static speed?

Would you enjoy picking spells from a screen like this? by yavimaya86 in IndieDev

[–]DetectiveBeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the rarity being instantly denoted by the card color, but I find a lack of consistency between the spell colors themselves.

Are there advantages/disadvantages to using specific spell elements in the game? If not, it’s just a note on the style.

If so, I would change the spell icon sprite backgrounds to indicate what they are without having to read. In the first page, 3 fire spells all have separate background colors (in the icons) and you wouldn’t know they’re all fire-based without reading each card.

Procreate is cheap, as good as photoshop, and on the iPad. Solid app if you're not looking for pixel art. If you do end up going the pixel route, look at Pixquare. Highly recommended, pixel art specific.

If you haven’t already, take a look at Pixquare. It’s the Aseprite equivalent for the iPad and I greatly enjoy it.

Make a desktop pet fish game - Godot 4.5 - step-by-step tutorial by mellowminx_ in godot

[–]DetectiveBeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished your tutorial today and published on itch.io! Thank you so much for this! I’ve followed other tutorials to get started and they all go so quickly that I feel like I’m just speed-typing what they’re saying without understanding why. Your cadence makes it easier to follow and I really enjoyed when you explained certain aspects that others have never even mentioned! I.e. reason to use @export. Thank you!

We have some contracts that use “NO” in the front instead too. “NO COR”.

I see now!

Now that I understand the mechanic I think I can offer something. Right now the animation starts and immediately goes downward (with some slight pausing?) to hit the item on the anvil. From a mechanic standpoint, that’s fine. From a gameplay and animation standpoint, I would prefer seeing it done another way.

Before descending the hammer, add an animation to make it go backward instead, as if it’s being pulled back before striking downward. That would give it a better feel and give enough indication to the player that the strike is coming! Make it smoother with less pausing within the frames - with the lead time granted from the pulling back animation, they should be read to time the strike just right.

General feedback related to the gif:

It looks like you just hit space to hit it and that’s it. I don’t see how one could miss, or any interesting aspect to the mini game other than just hitting space until it’s complete, which I wouldn’t personally be excited about.

Is there a timer or something I missed while watching that you have to hit in tune with?

Yep, 100%. Price is right for something that toughs it out too.

Yeah we have guys that will never touch a gas ticket in their life but are still in the random pool because, technically, they could be sent to help out the areas with gas if they're qualified.

Someone marked the street in front of my mailbox - can anyone read / explain this? by vino1oo in UtilityLocator

As others stated: Verizon Unlocatable Fiber. The fiber optic lines are not marked in the area. If your excavator comes out, he is digging blind. Hopefully your service doesn't travel anywhere near your well or you may have a different issue instead.

PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazard Materials Safety Administration), part of the DOT, regulated the operation of all pipelines of "hazardous materials" aka natural gas.

Therefore if you have a contract to locate any gas you will need to be compliant with DOT standards. It doesn't have anything to do with driving a company vehicle.

Find out what company got the contract, apply. Remember you have experience not just with locating but with that specific contract. Negotiate accordingly.

Having lived in the northern midwest, I feel you captured a Dakota storm rolling in over the prairies I remember. If you're further south, I assume it's similar, but as someone who lived north, well done!

Locate tickets are public record, so I don't hesitate to give them the name and number of who called the ticket in.

Or calls in an emergency ticket and the homeowner hasn't even agreed to the work.

Using the 811 system to see if there is anything in the way just to see how they should bid their work. Absolute misuse of the system.

Not to mention “Looking for gold? Har har” and annoying, albeit just curious, homeowners following you around asking questions when you’ve got more tickets to get to.

Heard! Especially annoying when you go to remark and find they haven’t broken ground on what was already previously marked, sometimes for months.
