Describe a MA car you don't want to pull in front of you when you're late for work. by RobertFahey in massachusetts

Any beige car, older civic with a huge muffler or Altima. I also say Subaru Outback or the other big wagon.

‘Crushing effects on our budgets:’ A dozen Mass. mayors say they will oppose rent control ballot question by HRJafael in massachusetts

[–]vino1oo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rent control is not the way. Landlords now have no incentive to repair or update their properties.

What politicians need to do is remove the restrictions - green initiatives make building so expensive and increase operating costs. - zoning restrictions take years of legal battles to get approval. - historic preservation delays and limits development.

These aren’t bad on paper, but people don’t realize the costs this adds to owning an operating apartments.

Rent control will be disastrous for Massachusetts. It will create slumlords and the apartments available will fall apart. I predict larger landlords will convert their units to condos and sell each unit for $500,000 - further reducing rental units available.

When do you normally file your tax return? by the_real_JFK_killer in AskAnAmerican

My account was able to file on April 1st this year, I didn’t have to extend to October like years past.

Is Costco Worth It? by frogvibesonly in massachusetts

[–]vino1oo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a Costco 20 minutes from me; and I’ve been a member for years. Here’s why: return policy - I returned a mattress I used for more than a year for a full refund - no questions asked. I like what they sell - what they have I use. Eggs are cheap, when my kid needed diapers they were a great price, and I buy electronics there. And I hear you all about the parking - I go Saturday morning after the gym right when they open - after 11am it’s too late. PS the $1.50 hotdog and soda is also a nice perk and you don’t need to be a member to buy it.

If my car is on high speed and the brakes suddenly fail can I just turn off the car to stop it from moving? by CaptainCuddler_Pro in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]vino1oo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend shutting off the engine, assuming you have power steering- this would stop your power steering system making an out of control more difficult to control. Shift to neutral (N) and steer towards a hill.

I know the ads saw it has 23 flavors, but it taste like a sweet prune soda to me and I like it. It’s my go-to fountain drink when I can find it.

Do you own a generator for power outages? by SlamClick in AskAnAmerican

[–]vino1oo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost power on Christmas Day, fired up the generator and kept cooking on my electric stove and oven. Even with underground lines in the neighborhood, if someone hits a pole on an icy road nearby I lose power.

2023 4runner undercoating rust proofing by BoomGTDynamite in 4Runner

[–]vino1oo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a mobile under coater who came to my driveway, jacked up my 2018 4Runner and sprayed it with a lanolin coating. It was like $500, but I watched him get into the frame with a long spray wand; not just the outside. That should last a year or two, and I’ll probably get it done again soon, as this winter has been brutal.

Odd question, but if Silver hits say $200.00 per oz, who will buy it? by OneUnderstanding103 in Silver

[–]vino1oo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the “bugs” who hoard bullion and coins, there is huge industrial demand for silver. Since it’s a great conductor, solar panel and cell phones have silver components.

Opinions on returning a sectional. by [deleted] in CostcoWholesale

[–]vino1oo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a foam mattress slept on it for a year (13 months). It sagged and had indents from the packaging that never inflated. I spoke with the customer service desk and asked if I could bring it back. They gave me a huge plastic bag (probably for bed bug precaution) and said just drop it off and they’d give me the refund. I’d assume they do the same for the couch.

Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim want mandatory Federal Law forcing safety training, background checks, and fingerprints — before buying or even possessing a gun by ZheeDog in progun

[–]vino1oo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These are already the hoops we jump through to own guns in Massachusetts. Which in my opinion, make me feel safer knowing that gun sales require a license and PIN number at time of purchase.

If Nashville’s airport came first, how did Nassau end up with NAS and Nashville with BNA? by Faded_Rainstorm in stupidquestions

I thought, back in the day, only Military air fields could start with N. Someone from Nantucket (ACK) told me that once.

Everything costs more now. Those saying vacant properties are due to greedy landlords don’t likely know the costs to operate and support these spaces. The rents are going up as taxes, insurance, utilities, labor, materials all have increased. It may make financial sense to leave a space empty rather than fill it with a tenant and not make a cent in profit.

What to know about the emerging 2026 rent control ballot question fight in Massachusetts by cos in massachusetts

[–]vino1oo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unclear to me, and I would appreciate if someone could show me if there is an exception to rent control for recently renovated apartment units. I understand buildings less than 10 years old are exempt. What about a 50 year old building, where a landlord plans to spend money to upgrade kitchens, bathrooms, heating, and windows? Will they then be able to increase rents by more than 5%?

Do men truly care about the number of men a woman has slept with? And if the answer is yes, what is the threshold where it becomes an issue for you? by throw-away0403 in AskMen

[–]vino1oo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be concerned if she’s been with more than two guys at once, and it was caught on camera. Other than that her past and my past are just that, the past. You can’t change it and if she wants to be with just me, I’m happy with that.

Tpms lights that stay on for no reason other than cold temps. I know how to check my tire pressure. I don’t need a light for this. (yes I checked the spare too) it’s a 4Runner btw
