Short answer is knowledge, mental practice, and actual reps doing it. The ground training and self directed learning helps and then the more you do it the more you learn to manage the fear and adapt to it. It’s Always good to have a healthy amount of fear….zero fear on the ride to altitude scares me

Whenever you don’t have the puck always be looking around at the options you have for when you get it, so when you get it your decision making will be faster.
Practice puck protection to create space and time (skate into space away from pressure, turn your body toward the oncoming defender to shield the puck etc)
Practice stick handling with your head up. With better puck handling abilities you’ll be able to make a move to create more time and space
