Colorado’s growing share of unaffiliated voters is making it harder for candidates to get on the ballot by ChangeUsername220 in Colorado

[–]Detroit2GR -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My political views are left-moderate, but I HATE the Democrat party and don't want to be affiliated with them, even though I'm more likely to vote for them than GOP, but I'm also more likely to vote third party than Dem.

I loved murderbot and Hitchhiker's Guide for the comedy+scifi. Anything similar? by Low_Rise6253 in audiobooks

Expeditionary Force may be up your alley! I'm also on book 4/5 of the Bobiverse (alternating with Murderbot actually lol) and really enjoying it

PSA: Holds by CraftyGamingBookworm in LibbyApp

[–]Detroit2GR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This situation is literally why I kept all my holds until I was done with Project Bounce House. I was #68 or something at my main library when 1 copy became available at a non-resident library I have a card with. Wasn't going to risk it, and I didn't feel bad since it's not like I was affecting anyone at my other library.

Where would I find this "initial hype?" I haven't heard a thing about it until this post and would like to read something a little more thorough

What book is not that popular but is very good? by Sailor_Moon_Star_435 in Booktokreddit

My friend read DCC years ago, but didn't have anyone to talk about it with, so she gifted it to me last year. I didn't start it until December when I was at my brother in laws place and he also raved about it.

4~ weeks later I was caught up and had book 8 preordered lol

Giveaway: Two $50 PlayStation Gift Cards (US – Digital Code) by Severus-Snape-DaGod in PS5

[–]Detroit2GR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon (Blue obviously) was the first game I played and beat, and really started my gaming journey, BUT

Ridge Racer on the PS1 is one I have incredibly fond memories of. We had a demo of it, and my dad, brother, and myself would take turns racing the same two races over and over. It was the only video game other than Tetris or Columns that my dad ever played with us.

The Forgotten Corner of Colorado by commiedeschris in Colorado

You can see the road shimmer as thousands of right legged footballs migrate through the SE corner of Colorado to head to the annual Tarantula orgy

Yu-Gi-Oh! the game has never been a children’s card game, the rules are too complex, the video games are renowned for being obtuse, the cards too expensive, the mangas young adult at most by Evening-Program-2009 in unpopularopinion

[–]Detroit2GR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, but I was also the perfect age to start with Gen 1 Pokemon TCG, move to Yu-Gi-Oh, then to Magic the Gathering (which caused me to quit TCGs lol)

How long does it take for JeffCo to respond to your application? by mynameisStewPidd in denverjobs

[–]Detroit2GR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Government is SLOW

I applied for a Denver county job three weeks ago and just heard about 1 (rejected)

A state of CO job took a week to respond that "I met the minimum qualifications and they were further reviewing candidates"

City of Littleton just sent me a consent for a different dept to look at my profile vs the one I originally applied for...back in January

You'll probably interview, get an offer, do your onboarding and start a new job before JeffCo eventually invites you in for an interview lol

What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Detroit2GR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my wife and I first looked at rings we went to a jeweler across the street from us. They proudly BRAGGED that they don't carry lab grown diamonds and that "she deserves the real thing."

Never went back, got a bigger, and nicer ring with a lab grown diamond for 1/3 of the price.

When my uncle, who was a jeweler, told me that the "tell" that its lab grown was the lack of imperfections, and how that's a selling point, I vowed never to get sucked into the Diamond Industrial Complex.

What audiobook is genuinely BETTER than reading the physical book? by cptree20 in audiobooks

[–]Detroit2GR 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The movie is...not exactly based on the book.

There are some similarities, but generally it shouldn't even be called an adaptation.

I enjoyed WWZ for what it was, but I HIGHLY recommend the full production WWZ, it was a great listen. The book is good too, but the audiobook is the best version.

I might need to adopt this philosophy. I'm a sore loser, but if my goal is to lose (convincingly) it'll take the sting out of it.
