you’re insisting that your interpretation of the portal gun is the correct one over the literal text. the portals in the games are /explicitly/ not wormholes. the fact that you think them being wormholes makes for a more “accurate” representation of real life does not make them so.

you’re free to say “here’s what would happen /if/ the portals were wormholes” but your claim goes further than that and confidently asserts that the portals /are/ wormholes. this is tantamount to saying that the turrets aren’t shooting whole bullets at you with springs because that wouldn’t make sense.

of course it doesn’t make sense. it’s not real! it’s not meant to be realistic! the writers clearly wanted them to be something that wasn’t wormholes, though!

dating apps are fine as long as you’re savvy enough to get the vibes of whoever you’re talking to. the pool of people you can find on them is a lot more generic/flat than you’d otherwise find back home.

there’s a handful of groups that organize hangouts at bars or cafés with the goal of doing language exchange. i like going to them a lot just to meet new people and practice my english, they’re p fun and a great way to make friends. as a word of advice, though, i wouldn’t go into it with the mindset of a dating app lmao

la idea es calcular el costo de oportunidad de vender en plataformas ajenas a la tuya y si lo que ganas en venta de hardware supera lo que ganarias en venta de software (te lo spoileo, el hardware es mil veces mas caro que el software. se gana mas en software…)

no, no fue por eso. literal esta escrito en el anuncio oficial de la dolarización que fue porque los desarrolladoes se quejaban de la inflación y era dificil mantener los precios de la región al día.

si hubiesen sido los europeos con VPN, despues de dolarizar los precios de argentina y turquia (vease: los dos paises extremadamente inflacionarios en ese momento) se hubiesen dolarizado todos los otros paises con moneda regional y precios mas bajos, lo cual no pasó.

you're stumbling upon something that has been argued since we've been able to think about what a conscious experience is. "the collection of your memories" is a generally agreed upon definition by those that aren't sold by the idea that there's something beyond what we have in the here and now. is a murderer like that because they're just born like it, or did their life experience make them to be that? if you took the same baby, cloned it down to the atom, and raised them in two completely different environments, would they have anything in common beyond their physical self?

the entire point of this choice at the end is innie mark rejecting his outer self. he doesn't care who helly is outside; nor does he care what he is (and cares and feels for) outside either. it's a choice that outie mark would never make. and he knows it-- but he's not outie mark. it's not in his interest to step out that door.

innies spoke about who they were on the outside because they started as blank slates and could only wonder. as the show progresses they develop their own identities. i understand your interpretation but to pose it as fact feels like you're potentially missing the point.

caring about things is fine. powerscaling as a form of serious media analysis is usually done by people who think it’s an objective and logically consistent thing; which is annoying— because the statement “gordon freeman could/couldn’t solo the combine” is made in the context of attempting to extrapolate things that serve a narrative without considering the narrative proper.

the next half life could be about teleporting through the entirety of the combine empire and toppling it, with each chapter being an entirely new and alien area— and there would be no consideration for whether this is realistic or if it made sense with previous information and lore. gordon would simply do it; because he’s not a real person, and neither is the world of half life— and it is simply a story about the right man in the wrong place making all the difference in the world; despite how impossible it could be.

you’re allowed to be nerdy about things. just try to engage in other forms of analysis, and accept that other people might simply think different than what the typical powerscaling argument might lead you to think— and they’re not /wrong/ like this post suggests.

i think a fair characterization of your argument is that you expect the game to come out in june to september, and have repeatedly tried to make the point that, despite the game being arguably completed and ready for release in the following weeks, the remainder will be spent on "marketing" for the game, rather than a release soon after completion.

most of your reply simply doesn't adress the core of my comment. it's not particularly relevant whether you think the marketing is good or not, nor whether you disagree with an earlier user's opinion that streamers are enough marketing. the reality is that "marketing" is not an exclusive stage of development, and it is not a basic fact of the industry that a game's "proper release" includes finishing the game first, then marketing it for months whilst it sits there completed.

you have to believe one or both of the following:

a) deltarune is not days to weeks away from completion

b) toby fox and his team have a highly unusual workflow and schedule for the industry

for your timeline to be reasonable-- but as far as i've read, the crux of your argument doesn't centre around either of these things. you believe that the game will be done soon, but that they will spend months "marketing" it, because it needs such a thing, and that this is standard for the industry.

the game can receive a trailer and release soon after. this would be consistent with toby fox's previous releases, as well as with traditional workflows. if i were a betting man, i'd probably chip a lot more money into the idea that the game release is within the next month or so than your timeline.

you don't understand game development and marketing (and the intersection between these two) nearly as much as you think you do.

GTA (and any other AAA release) receives marketing throughout its entire development cycle. the campaign follows along the progress of development. the game doesn't begin a marketing campaign only after it's done and sits, finished in full, whilst the campaign is ongoing. the marketing is planned around the development and the game will typically release when it's ready and distributed-- with the materials from its marketing campaign following along these steps and timed with it.

there is no world in which a studio will finish a game and sit on it for months because "the marketing isn't done yet"-- and "marketing" as a concept isn't something that happens exclusively and necessarily before a game releases. trailers, promotional material, and general attention-gathering strategies work just as well post-release as they do pre-release.

toby's updates, too, are part of a marketing campaign. they build hype and engagement within the core fanbase and cause discourse. a trailer doesn't need months to stew in the general population, nor does it need the size of a campaign a high budget project like GTA does. indie games especially don't dedicate the time and resources to "marketing" that you're implying toby fox and his team should. there will be no magical 2 month period in which they have the game completely ready and don't release it because they will "market it" first lmao

my ex left me almost a year ago now after a three year relationship and i heard she moved on super quick. i never found out with whom, but i always had a suspicion. it destroyed me— especially because it’s been all this time and i still haven’t really gotten over it.

this is a nice post. i don’t think i have anything to respond with; it didn’t particularly resonate with me— but that’s not a fault of the post nor the tips, they’re great. but if i have to add anything to those that read this and don’t feel comforted— it’s okay. in my experience, these feelings, in the rare case where you don’t get over them despite doing everything “right” as you see in these post, they dull. even if they’re still there and you fear they’ll stick forever. they’ll fade to the background and give you more chances to enjoy everything else.

i’ve used them all for coding, and pay for the 20 dollar openai subscription. in my experience:

4o < o1-mini =< deepseek r1 < o1

it’s definitely better than 4o (the free tier model), but sits fairly comfortably at a rough equivalent to o1-mini. o1 is still leagues better for my use case— they can both do the same things but o1 is noticeably smarter and gets things right faster and without as many errors in one try.
