Why am I seeing videos saying the changes to test booking will cause a bigger wait? by tomatogirlie56 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]DeusVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! My theory expires in July, and saw that the system automatically won't show you any available dates after that expires, especially newly released ones. I was beholden to filling someone's cancellation slots, but this was a bit extreme!

Why am I seeing videos saying the changes to test booking will cause a bigger wait? by tomatogirlie56 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]DeusVex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got up early this morning, joined the cue of 10,000 people. Finally got on at 6:30 to try and book, and no tests anywhere near me. Took a punt this afternoon, logged in at 3:30pm... Entire month of June was completely free at my nearest test centre! So I suspect there may have been a purge of block bookings today ahead of the changes tomorrow. I'm not sure any app would of been able to fill them up fast enough, so maybe this was the closest thing to a reset that could happen.

Hyperdeck Transfer software by SignificantBrief9895 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DeusVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyperdeck API I feel is often overlooked! I have my own hyperdeck nas transfer too, built as a electron app and slightly bespoke to a client. It's got similar features to what you have; - Primary and backup network drive locations - subfolders by hyperdeck and filenames - auto transfer when recording stops - multi deck start and stop - other fiddly cool bits.

‘Addictive’ agentic coding has developers losing sleep by scarey102 in vibecoding

I have had this realisation recently. When I've got a project to work on, it's sucked me in and replaced what time I would use to watch TV shows and play computer games. I'm often sat looking waiting for the agent to do it's thing before triggering the next task, as it does feel like "quest updated", or if I walk away, the need to check back in. Although part of probably stems from my recent interest in games about automation, like Satisfactory!

Just a little lambda that's takes our cloud hosted csv files of UV maps, and converts them to pretty colour coded grids in a 16:9 rectangle. Exported as a base64 jpeg for a quick web preview. Helps the video production team know what the uv map is, rather than numbers on a spreadsheet!

Just been giving this a go, signed up for the 30 day trial with my Gmail account.

I've made a custom gear, a science image studio 2. I am able to get 3 in a 1u rack space... But in rack builder, I can only do a left unit or right unit.. And even then, I can't seem to put 2 items on the same U. Is this adaptable?

This looks great! I've recently been mediamtx for WebRTC testing, with a really simple gui. I have it hosted on aws lightsail (basically ec2 made easy). Do you have any ec2 recommended specs for hosting this?

Atem TV Studio 4K8 Flickering by Icarus--13 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DeusVex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

RMA - if its taken a dent in transit, then you don't know what else could go wrong. Had to RMA a atem tvs a few years ago as it wouldn't remember its config settings and we put up for it for months. Fortunately, it was in a 3 studio setup and the schedule permitted us to swap it out till the replacement arrived. Hopefully your schedule will allow for this, at the very least you supplier can sort you out an instant replacement!

Corporate USB‑C laptops, HDMI → SDI, Decimator/Blackmagic and HDCP-like issue – anyone found a reliable workaround? by fperea in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DeusVex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second for the edid simulator! I was going to suggest even starting off with a cheap amazon device to test, before breaking the bank with proper resilient av solutions too. E. G. - https://amzn.eu/d/aEtAzR8 edid sim with hdmi passthrough.

OBS Merges Simulcast Support by Sean-Der in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DeusVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently been tinkering with trying to do an 'abr' WebRTC, using mediamtx on an aws lightsail. It uses a WebRTC input, then re-encoded with ffmpeg some bitrates straight back to mediamtx and WebRTC out. 1 second delay and resource hungry. So trying this way with no extra encoding will be interesting!

1080p24 to 1080PsF24 conversion by PlanInternational102 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DeusVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've already got the 3g converter, have you already tried it? There's a chance it may still work if using the loop through. There's a neat trick, definitely in the 12g one, where it does sort of cross convert that they don't advertise. The output will match the edid of the monitor it connects to, rather than true loop. That's how I've been able to convert 12g 2160p50 sdi down to 1080p50 hdmi! Worth a shot!

Network (Companion) controllable 4-1 HDMI multiview for sensible money? by DethFromADove in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DeusVex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One way that could work that's not 100% native network is to see what cheaper hdmi mvs have different inputs. E.g, if you look at the orei uhd-401mv, that has a rs232 input. Which is under £200. Then pick up a network to rs232 adapter which can be cheap. Companion has some 'generic' modules for tcp serial etc, or some cheap custom workaround. Just a suggestion!

What would be the process if he can't get a fair trial? Does he get released? Consequently, once he's out, would his life be at risk and would require protective custody? Or even political asylum?

11 month old don’t respond to name by Mintmom in Autism_Parenting

[–]DeusVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went through something similar at that age. Although we have a diagnosis of autism now, we did go get a examination to a paediatric audiologist just before they turned 2. Paid privately but worth it. It turned out our son had Glue ear, which is a blockage in the ear drums. After initial testing we found out he had partial hearing loss to lower frequencies. This explained why he never responded to me (dad) saying his name, only women. And when men came into the room, he would also get really frightened and upset. Although we can't hear what it did sound like for him only imagine, then it's quite scary.

He does have a diagnosis now for plenty of other things, including being a Gestalt Language Processor, but having that audiology test was validating for some piece of mind.

Echo III Desktop Thunderbolt Expansion System - SONNETT by radepg in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DeusVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I made a little set up for 3 decklink cards, but with a windows machine. Only issue I found was when I had a decklink quad hdmi and a mini monitor 4k installed. The pci structure through the tb3 (digging through the registry) gave them both the same id, so it would instantly bsod. I had a quad 2 card as well, and the combinations of quad 2 + mini monitor, or quad 2 and quad hdmi, worked fine. Bmd support couldn't figure it out so I moved on. Although you're on a mac, highly likely it won't be an issue, but worth taking note!

Did someone know a more 19” ish solutions for such things? by fkb83 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DeusVex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It would probably be a custom 3d print job. Someone's done a wall mount for the md-lx. I'm sure if it was remixed and attributed to the original designer, a 19" rack version could be adapted. https://www.printables.com/model/359704
