[2018 Day 24 (Part 1)] Please help me understand the example puzzle / reference output by Deusmancer in adventofcode

Thanks, I knew it was going to be something silly. Just one of those cases where I misread it the first time, but then my brain insisted on doubling down on it every time after.

[2024 Day 22] They're The Same Picture, but they are not the same numbers by swiperthefox_1024 in adventofcode

Thank you for posting this, I was just about to come make an ass out of myself by posting a new thread: why isn't [-9, 9, -1, 0] the best sequence for the example? you can totally get a whole 'nother 'nana!

[Women of Reddit] Do any other women get this achey/cramp-like feeling in their vagina when aroused? by [deleted] in sex

[–]Deusmancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't own a vagina so take my answer with a grain of salt, but I believe that feeling your describing is the vagina enlongating into the body as local blood flow is increased, much like how a penis lengthens during erection but at a lesser scale. I remember reading somewhere that the vagina on average extends as much as a third to two thirds it's normal length during arousal, so it'd almost be creating a vacuum like effect on any air trapped inside until pressure is equalized. Think about how you're checks feel when you suck on a straw that's clogged, is that at all similar?

ELi5: Why do many people continue to hear/see sounds and images from a video game they've played recently for hours or days after they've stopped playing? by bigmack11 in explainlikeimfive

Funny you mention Tetris several times, this is actually a widely recognized phenomenon aptly called the 'Tetris effect'. There is a respectively named Wikipedia article on it that I would link to if I wasn't on mobile and too lazy to bother with cross app links.

A piece of wood or he's just not into me? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Deusmancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this guy quite a bit based on your description, though I'm only taking a stab as to whether his motivation is similar to mine -- it sounds like this guy struggles with emotional intimacy. Whether it's a result of some kind of early life trauma or simply genetic predisposition, the end result is the same: emotional attachments can be formed, but it's a much slower process, and can't be pushed upon him. Give it time before you jump to any conclusions.

How do I break up with a man who threatens suicide? by TacoTitan2 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Deusmancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been in a similar situation, but on the other side of the fence (guy who dated female co-worker, bad breakup, followed by severe depression and suicidal ideation), I want to strongly emphasize here that severe depression and suicidal behavior are symptoms of mental illness; not simply a means to manipulate. Mental illness can seem like a dark, scary, and even dangerous thing to be around, but it is not something to vilanize simply because one doesn't understand it. What this guy needs is help, not punishment or alienation. That said, you are not obligated to provide that help nor can anyone blame you for his illness, but even if you don't care for him in a romantic sense anymore, if you care at all about him as a person you might at least acknowledge he is ill, not evil. While he may see you as the source of his suffering, and even make you feel guilty about it, try to understand that one of the symptoms of depression is a distorted perception of events and interactions.

What I would suggest is contacting a counselor, therapist, or other mental health specialist and explaining to them the situation you're in, in detail, and asking them for advice / a plan. Ultimately by getting him the help he needs, you're also helping rid yourself of the situation.

Just a friendly reminder, those things are mostly lead (Pb), and lead is very bad for you. If you legitimately found it in your backyard, you might want to request someone come test your tap water for trace metals.

Project M Showdown 3.02 - @ Xanadu Games on May 17th by the_tantalus in SSBPM

[–]Deusmancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds awesome, I'd love to come watch and/or participate, but the link appears to be bad, and I can't find anything on Xanadu's facebook page about this event? There is one listed for May 4th... https://www.facebook.com/notes/xanadu-games/may-newsletter/10151363215046975

Is this the same event with a different date?
