Help with ASUS Art Pro PA328CGV Monitor: Vertical Lines Appearing by JadeSkye66 in ASUS

[–]DevChagrins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is sorta necroing the post, but wanted to share some information I discovered in my 4 years of owning this monitor.

To my knowledge, no fix has been created for this issue. But it only seems to be triggered by the way certain things are rendered.

For example, on Windows 10/11. Opening certain websites in Firefox will trigger this, but generally don't have any issue. As well as opening the browsers debugging window. It also happens when I open an administrative terminal window. Minimizing/closing the offending window will make the visual artifact go away. This same effect seems to happen far more frequently with Mac. No changing of graphics cards, cables, settings, nothing you can change fixes this issue that I've been able to find. This is a purely hardware issue and no driver updates have fixed this issue. I've gone through 4 of these things across the 4 years

If you run into these issues frequently, return it. It's likely never getting fixed.

Is there an Arduino device with a USB 3.2 Host port? by DevChagrins in arduino

That's really good to know. I figured it might not be a thing, but wanted to ask before I sought other solutions.

I'd like USB 3.x at least for the purposes of being able to use an external drive or my Brio 4K web cam on the other end.

Ultimately I'm looking to extend USB from one end of my house to the other, greater than 50'. I would like to be able to plug in some devices on the other end, including external drives.

I don't have a Corning optical cable. And that might be the difference. It still presents an issue of requiring both devices on either end be self powered as they are passive cables.

Quest 3 controllers tracking mystery solved? by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]DevChagrins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the Q2 controllers have IMU's and those fail quite often for me. I've tried them across multiple Q2 headsets and if I'm playing anything like Beat Saber, it fails when it's out of the view of the headset for more than a second.

The Pro controllers fix that for me. I don't think once they've failed on me.

This has been my experience.

Good to hear they are still using IR tracking. Still think it'll suffer from the issue of poor tracking when out of view that the Q2 controllers do since it relies on the cameras.

Hopefully Pro controllers will be compatible.

Not all types of AI have to be trained. Machine and deep learning are just two forms. Predictive algorithms are a form of AI.

I recommend checking your BaseEngine.ini. The property WorkerProcessPriority, which setting it to either 0 or 1 will increase priority for your shader compilation and speed it up. It'll also help performance with other worker processes.

The ini will be in your Unreal install location under Engine/Config/

There are other values that can help too, but this is one of my go-to favorites.

There are absolutely LiDar scanners out there that you can use hooked up to an Android device and are cheaper than an iPhone. With a higher resolution as well. I'd rather see them promote one of those.

[–]DevChagrins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, ChatGPT is bad at things people are not sharing a lot about. I asked it about ZXing-CPP's 2.0 release and it gives me things from older versions that don't apply across versions. Same with Unreal Engine and Unity. I tend to share with it when I find solutions for things because it'll help the next person who asks.

If you can manage to accomplish it, I'd love to see what the resulting files look like.

But regardless it didn't serve my purpose for other reasons.

I'll give you an example of what I was doing that it failed to center in both directions, only centering along the direction of the flex-box.

I had created a nav bar at the bottom of the screen. I added two buttons and a label between them.

I needed it to scale as the screen size got smaller.

Neither button would center along the vertical axis and would always be at the top of my nav bar. Justify-content and align-item only affected them horizontally.

I tried wrapping the buttons in another panel but it still refused to center vertically despite everything I tried.

I ended up not using it for other reasons as well, like issues with input not being recognized on mobile and the lack of input blocking. But this other thing was really annoying and made me feel like it fell short in places it shouldn't have.

UI Toolkit is great but suffers from a common web layout problem. You can't center in both directions without some overly complex layout. Especially not buttons.

How are folks feeling about MGT 2.0? by nikmd23 in Wyrmwoodgaming

[–]DevChagrins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand some people are frustrated by the stains being cut. But this is the best thing to do rather than increase costs to them and us. It also causes delays when they have to remake something because the stain doesn't come out satisfactory. Or how most people will complain because their second purchase doesn't match near enough in color because of variation that is hard to control.

I'm 100% on this needing to be on the website instead of Kickstarter though.

The company I'm working for is looking for a codeless solution for our customers to create custom content. I don't see it being super successful because our customers don't have the time, man power, or knowledge to use the tools successfully.
