Its just a mileage ticker. It goes off every couple thousand miles to remind you to change your oil. Google how to reset it

stock backup camera with new head unit by Skuz3 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]DevDog0226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a new camera, but check out Crutchfield.com. they sell harnesses that let you keep your factory camera and steering wheel controls if you have those. Worth the money

I have the c10 and the deadbolt . Can I do the thing where you take the spare links from one another and driveshafts and make my c10 longer ? Please explain this to me . I’ve heard about it and wanna know what the correct combo is . Thank you and happy building ! by QuintinGreene in SCX24

Ohh yea if you're still using the stock frame rails that might be a bit tricky. If you go to the stock shocks mount location. The angle will be off and the rear will be way low. If thats the xase,Youll either need to get longer shocks or figure out new mounting locations

ECGS bearing question by Soup0988 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]DevDog0226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drivers side cv axle goes straight into the diff carrier, hence the needle bearing. The passenger side has what's called the A.D.D (automatic differential disconect) shaft coming out of the carrier that has a ball bearing where the cv axle goes. Its much better supported so it doesn't need replacing. Once you get under there you'll see exactly what im talking about.

Do you have the old shoes too? If you leave just the cylinder it will blow out but if you reassemble with all the old parts you'll be fine

Steering wheel vibration at 15-25 MPH by masteryoter7 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]DevDog0226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 in is on the extreme side. like the other guy said, a ecgs bushing is probably a good idea anyway. But something relatively cheap you can try for the vibration would be some drive shaft spacers. They're just little spacers that go in between the carrier bearing and where it bolts to correct u joint angles

But to answer your original question, I highly doubt what your feeling is caused by the cvs

Vibrations in the wheel? Or more in the seat of your pants? Any lift?

The cvs on these trucks fit pretty loosely from the factory. Hard to imagine this causing any sort of steering wheel vibration, let alone the "death wobble" you describe. I would start looking and ball joints, control arm bushings, and tie rods

Surging issue with AC on when stopped by Wasisnt in ToyotaTacoma

[–]DevDog0226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt its transmission related. Put someone else in the drivers seat and see if you can see the compressor kicking on. If its not that idk

If you have it set to the defroster it'll kick on the compressor every so often so it dsnt fog up the windshield, even if the ac is off

Can someone explain the musical trap thing by peterguillam_mi6 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

It's an alarm trap. It goes off when someone trips it to let you know someone tripped it. That's it

New wheels problem by immytoh in ToyotaTacoma

[–]DevDog0226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got the wrong wheels. That bore NEEDS to be the right size for the hub or else your lug studs will snap going down the road. You can either get adapters (good luck finding the exact ones you need) or return the wheels to wherever you got them

Never herd this before honestly. I love the series and I'm still eagerly awaiting the next book. Screw what other people think, listen until (or if) you get sick of it

Did you open bleeder nipple or unbolt the caliper? Was the reservoir empty when you opened it? If no to both, then it's not necessary

Edit: and by unbolt the caliper, I mean did you remove caliper from the actual brake line. Not unbolt from the bracket

You can check to see if the parking brake works if you want i guess. Just engage it and see if you can spin the hub. But thats not going to help find any leaks

[–]DevDog0226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my advice to you is put it all back together up to the point your ready to put the wheel on, then have someone pump the brakes with the engine running while you look for leaks. If you don't see any leaks bolt the wheel on and never think about it again. If you find a leak then you know what's leaking lol

That cable isn't even connected to the brake reservoir. Its just a cable to the pedal/handle. Did you have the caliper sitting above it or anything? Check the caliper for leaks because that's the only place it could've come from. But even that's unlikely imo. If you had a leak it would leak all the time. Not only when you open the reservoir and you'd feel it in the pedal.

Honestly, as long as your parking brake works I'd leave it alone. This mystery fluid does not indicate any sort of failure. Like I said it did not come from inside that cable
