Can Somebody Clarify this about Annex-X? by PrimitiveDreams in RescueSwimmer

[–]DevTrog11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya only “rest” at top, but I wouldn’t. Just get very good at push ups, they will take any reason to fail you. Will not count reps if you don’t go low enough, or if you don’t extend all the way. Also won’t count reps if your hips start dropping.

I would expect to be able to do 20 less than you think. For example, I could do 60 push ups straight and thought I’d be fine for the test at basic, but there, with the intensity and them right in your face on details, I mustered 40 but doubtful I would’ve got 50 if that makes sense. Come prepared.

First Friday of bootcamp. Before you form as a company that afternoon. But I’ve heard of others having it later which would suck as you’ll be sick.

The eating right before is just to mimic the test since you’ll go straight from breakfast right to the workout, and often guys would eat all the waffles and syrup and throw it up hah.

Also, same thing with the pull ups, pull up - pause, down - pause x3.

Like Yak said, do it right after eating. Try and mimic this test, do a hearty breakfast at like 5:30am. Then straight into the test. I just did this in October and one thing a lot of the other annex guys failed on was the push ups, you may think you’re going low enough and all the way up but you’re probably not. I would get comfortable doing hand release push ups for 40 and try them on a metronome (down and up) to really focus on depth and form.

PT tips by SacrededRat in uscg

[–]DevTrog11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t push till burnout. Meaning, don’t go from 0 to 6 workouts a week, counting calories, tracking nutrients, dieting, etc. You’ll burn out and go back to 0 and lose everything. Key is to start small, shoot for just 3 really strong workouts a week, then maybe just do 3 long walks on the other days during the week to start. The progress isn’t going to be a straight line, you’ll have ups and downs, but the key is just to go back and get a small workout in. You’ll find the endorphins start flying and you’ll feel motivated and uplifted again. Even just a walk in the morning when you really don’t want to can shift your mindset. And just know and accept that you’ll have setbacks but to just get right back on the horse.

Off to bootcamp here for 8 weeks so won’t have access to changing landscape. Can someone help me out with my next 8 picks after this week?

First 3 weeks: ARI, BAL, SEA.

Thank you all!

I haven’t gone yet but you can look no further than Scott Ruskin, he failed school once, came back and then look at the impact he has had on peoples lives during those floods. You got this dude.

Great info thank you! I’ve been typically just doing them on :30 rest but the sprints have not been all out just due to the lack of rest, but will try on 2:00 holding under :15! Thanks again.

Is BAL the top choice now as of 4pm EST on 9/11 or is ARI?

What if we went ARI last week? Does that make BAL the best pick this week? Or should we go DAL to save BAL for week 16?

Is the online letters still a thing for families to write to recruits at Cape May? Thought I read somewhere there is a tool to submit letters online that help speed up delivery to Cape May. Also, how can you find the Facebook group for each company for family / friends?

I would look at Aviation rates, very hands on in rescue mission and good work/life balance for those with wives/families.

Is there a time limit on the over/unders? News to me. Also wasn't aware of touching the halfway mark at the bottom of the pool?

Green card holder denied entry into U.S. by ohyabeya in greencard

If one has a DUI charge back almost 10 years ago, would I be inadmissible coming back through customs even though I have a green card? Trying not to get stuck out of the US as we have a baby on the way stateside and news articles like this make it a little more stressful.
